2 minis & a layout...studio 490 style

a layout?????

WHAT??? I don't do photos...
I don't know how to scrapbook...

I'm headed to Columbus, Ohio tomorrow to demo for Stampers Anonymous @ Memories Expo, which explains why I wanted to do something with a photo...but that comes later...

First...the minis...

Since Stampers Anonymous now has Maya Road products
(for your shopping convenience!)...
I thought I'd make a few samples for the booth.

This background was fun...sort of a mini sampler of studio 490 background stamps.

They're stamped on squares from Maya Road's foundation tin. I used the matching frames on other projects and had some extra squares...

perfect for a sampler...

the bird is from the birds of a feather set...

the base is a scalloped coaster.

I like the distress ink combo of broken china and peeled paint...

all stamping is done with jet black archival ink...
ALWAYS!...unless it's coffee archival...ha!

tim's idea-ology snaps added the finishing touch.

Another favorite color combo on the next mini...
vintage photo and broken china...

The flower is from the blossoms 2 tin...and it was run thru the Cuttlebug folder, then inked using Ranger's blending tool.

The stamps?? studio 490, of course!

The yummy brown flower is Maya Road's beaded felt blossom.

Now the layout...

Since Memories Expo is a scrapbook convention...what if people expect to see layouts in the booth?

I had none!!
NEVER made one...ever...YIKES!

But it was my lucky day...
we happened to find this photo in the basement of Rick's aunts home...

just the perfect sepia color for me and it was already mounted on a cool cardboard frame...

The papers are from graphic 45...I LOVE them...
perfect for vintage...

The embellishments on the left corner are stamped on grungeboard & grungePAPER...with studio 490 stamps...
there are a few mini chipboard flowers in there too...

FAMILY is spelled with Maya Road's brand new mini jonathan alphabet.
This is my most favorite product from their new release...
seriously...

I used tim's new metal corners and if you look close...there's a trinket pin in there too.

So there you have it...my first & probably ONLY layout ever...

I'm off early tomorrow...REALLY early...like 4am??? YIKES!

If you're close to Columbus...please stop by & say HI!

It's fun to put a name to the face...and to meet blog friends.

I'm planning to meet some friends from 2peas there too! Can't wait!

I'll be there to...

Make(demo)art!

wendy

PS...and if you live close to Philadelphia...there's a convention there this weekend...

Mr. Stampers Anonymous will be doing demos ...stop by...tell him that I said HI!

I guarantee...he WILL make you laugh!

and...coming Monday...lettuce & red pepper...

Sound like something to eat?

NOPE...It's Ranger's new PIGMENT inks...I made a little something & I LOVE these new earthtone colors...stay tuned...I'll show you on Monday.

first Maya Road cha-w 09 project

When I opened my box of Maya Road goodies...this was the first one I pulled out.

This assignment was chosen just for me...
the Flower Chain book.
A flower...
It made me laugh.

Here's the cover...

The first thing I did was to use charcoal Maya Mist on each page.
It made the perfect background for the art...

I'll share a few more pages...

If you read the "altered trinkets blossoms" tutorial yesterday ...here's another option, if you need a silver flower. I used Ranger's silver (alcohol ink) metal mixative & pounced it on to change the color from brass to silver, then followed the same procedure for altering the flower.

This page was fun... The huge pebble is made by Prima. As soon as I saw the package, I knew it would be a flower center..yes...I know...nuts! I see flowers in everything!

I love the jewel pins...they were the perfect little embellishment for the scroll. Also, in the previous photo, the same pin made a great flower center. The paper is from Graphic 45. It's yummy stuff!

Since I always load my pages with embellishments, I wanted to make a simple, but effective page. Here's my attempt...

I LOVE the texture the Cuttlebug embossing folder adds...

This was fun...I stamped on the buttons...

and ran the "U" thru the Cuttlebug...
Another page...

And a closeup...

This is the back cover...
I used a butterfly stamp from Maya Road...stamped it on grungeboard, then covered it and the Maya Road heart with distress stickles...The tall skinny flower is grungeboard & it's in the nature set.

So, I hope you've enjoyed these photos and that I've inspired you to...
Make ART!
wendy
ps...COME BACK...more on Monday...or maybe tomorrow if I have a chance to take more photos...

Over the river and thru the CUTTLEBUG?

Yes...anything that is NOT moving is fair game in this house!
I LOVE this thing.

Here's a little peek of a new class...it's the Maya Road mini tab 3 ring book.

Small ='s TOTAL fun!

We'll get to use tons of distress inks...and a bunch of studio490 stamps too.

Here's the back cover...from plain jane to.............

COOL TEXTURE! How simple...I added vintage photo & black soot distress inks for a great vintage look.

Here's some news.............

I just heard that the ACRYLIC COVERS for studio490 stamps are now shipping from Stampers Anonymous. I'm so excited to see what cool ideas you have for personalizing them. Send me photos & I'll be happy to post them on the blog!

Well.......I'm supposed to be getting groceries.........but I'm headed back to the studio. I'm on a roll!

Have a wonderful ARTY weekend!

Tuesday talk...

hey...it's Tuesday.

Accomplished this weekend...

One hour sun time on the deck. I better take advantage of every day. Summer is almost over here.

More class kits done! YIPPEE!

I got 6 HUGE background stamps sent off to Stampers Anonymous and a few stamp ideas are down on paper...but not yet ready to submit. FUN STUFF & versatile designs we NEED.

It's hard to believe that CHA-W 09 is just around the corner and it's 2 weeks earlier than last year! YIKES! No time to waste.

Then we did some major organizing of class supplies...Bought some shelving...bought some containers...started an inventory list...I like organized...still need more containers...I'm winning the organizing war...

THEN...

I HAD to take a little time to play... The gals @ Absolutely Everything requested a mini book class. The timing was good...

My order came from Maya Road and I ordered plenty of their new cute 3 ring mini tab books. Just what I thought...PERFECT for a class. Above is a peek...can't show more...because the other pages are still naked. tim's hitch makes a fun doorknob...hmmm..I think I recognize that face behind the window...

Then...a little shopping. Not only do I LOVE the Cuttlebug embossing folders...I LOVE these guys too. I think they will come in handy for art parts for classes. I already cut some felt & I LOVE IT!!!...Why did I wait soooooooo long to get this machine??? I had no clue that I NEEDED it...

That's the talk for today.
Happy Tuesday!

A tip for today...Take 2 ...

Swivel clasps...

Add a jump ring...and make a hanger!

Just a little reminder to look at things for what they COULD be.
It's so much fun when it...works as planned.

Stamp (studio490, of course!) some grungeboard, add it to a Maya Road chipboard page, add the hanger...done!

Here's a closer look...anything can be a flower center...

And yes........... I took the plunge...thanks to all your comments...

I REALLY like the Cuttlebug embossing folders...Now all I need is some spare time to play...

Keeping it short today. I've got LOTS of kits to get done for upcoming classes. Anyone want to help??

Have a GREAT week!

What??? No Cuttlebug???

I was talking to some friends @ CHA & the Cuttlebug came into the conversation. I was the only one in the group who does not own this thing. AMAZING...(shopper that I am)!

Anyway...I'm a stamper, not a scrapper so I never thought I really needed one.

Then I saw these embossing folders...

So, I brought them home...but NOT the machine. Still thinking...

Do I NEED this???

Do you have it???

Now it's YOUR turn to be an ENABLER...

Tell me all about it!

Do you LOVE it??? What do you use it for??

Should I buy the machine??? Or return the folders???

Talk to me!!
wendy
ps...the decision would be easier if it was BLACK...that's the OCD peeking out again!
