finishing yesterday...and new today...

After blogging yesterday, Rick & I had a date...

Hobby Lobby, the grocery & lunch.

It's sad, but true.............We're pretty BORING.........and I was a CHEAP date.
But look out...one of these days when I have some time..............

Anyway...then I came home to a million emails about my post. OK...maybe not a million, but almost 30. YIKES!

It's obvious that I neglected to tell you about the papers & products used. OOPS...sorry!

So...here we go with the answers...

The Maya Road landscape binder is 4 1/2 x 9. Pretty big.
Lots of room for play.

The plain green background page (the inside back cover) was done with the green Maya Mist. The "Enter" page is the charcoal Maya Mist. It's a great color, because it's dark...but you can still stamp on it with jet black archival ink to make cool backgrounds.

On to the paper questions...

From left to right...in the photo...

1. Cosmo Cricket
2. Graphic 45
3. CI...Christine Adolph
4. Mustard Moon

Next shot...All 4 of these great papers are made by Graphic 45...

For those of you who guessed that the houndstooth was a new studio 490 stamp...NOPE...it's a current Stampers Anonymous stamp (#U4-1043). It's a favorite....

The Graphic 45 paper & the stamp coordinate well...

I think that covers everything...

NOW!!!!!!!!!

ready for some cha project photos??

Ok...here they are...

But first, a WARNING!!

NO VINTAGE PHOTO was used on this landscape binder...or any of the pages!

I KNOW...
It's SHOCKING...

I look @ this & wonder who made it...

First, the cover with another version of the altered trinkets blossom...

A better look @ the flower...It's fun to stamp on the buttons...

This was fun...I embossed only the center of the page and left the sides plain...I like the look...

More houses...

Another page...

It's hard to tell, but I stitched the bottom of the felt blossom & pulled the stitch tight to gather the flower. Now it's smaller & altered...

More embossing...

The tiny butterfly is a Maya Road stamp...stamped on grungeboard & cut out. I love the dimension it adds...good thing I have bifocals!

This was a really fun page...I like the long skinny legs on the bird. If you look closely, the flower stem is made with 2 photo turns, left over from the mini 3 tab book...

Another style of altered trinkets blossom. The wings are grungeboard, painted with metallic crackle paint. The finishing touch was pitch black pigment ink. I rubbed it into the cracks to highlight them & to tone down the metallic look.

I don't sew...only on paper...but I wanted to do a quilt like page.

Getting to the end........

And Rick said.........

The metal corners are Maya Road thick photo edges...
So there you have it. A ton of photos. This baby took me about a week to complete. I'm very slowwwwwwwwwww...
***
And no...........there are no new studio 490 stamps on this! ha!
All the emails from my last post made me laugh. NOPE no new studio 490 stamps there either...
But.........I PROMISE YOU...
SOON!!
VERY SOON!!

There's still plenty on the CHA TO-DO list, so I better get in there and...
Make Art...
Thanks for stopping by!

first Maya Road cha-w 09 project

When I opened my box of Maya Road goodies...this was the first one I pulled out.

This assignment was chosen just for me...
the Flower Chain book.
A flower...
It made me laugh.

Here's the cover...

The first thing I did was to use charcoal Maya Mist on each page.
It made the perfect background for the art...

I'll share a few more pages...

If you read the "altered trinkets blossoms" tutorial yesterday ...here's another option, if you need a silver flower. I used Ranger's silver (alcohol ink) metal mixative & pounced it on to change the color from brass to silver, then followed the same procedure for altering the flower.

This page was fun... The huge pebble is made by Prima. As soon as I saw the package, I knew it would be a flower center..yes...I know...nuts! I see flowers in everything!

I love the jewel pins...they were the perfect little embellishment for the scroll. Also, in the previous photo, the same pin made a great flower center. The paper is from Graphic 45. It's yummy stuff!

Since I always load my pages with embellishments, I wanted to make a simple, but effective page. Here's my attempt...

I LOVE the texture the Cuttlebug embossing folder adds...

This was fun...I stamped on the buttons...

and ran the "U" thru the Cuttlebug...
Another page...

And a closeup...

This is the back cover...
I used a butterfly stamp from Maya Road...stamped it on grungeboard, then covered it and the Maya Road heart with distress stickles...The tall skinny flower is grungeboard & it's in the nature set.

So, I hope you've enjoyed these photos and that I've inspired you to...
Make ART!

ps...COME BACK...more on Monday...or maybe tomorrow if I have a chance to take more photos...

a fun tutorial for you...

It's my turn today to show a technique on the Maya Road design team blog.

I bet you could guess...I chose to make a flower.
The official title is...

ALTERED TRINKETS BLOSSOM.

I made 42 of these guys for a charm swap for my friends @ Holiday Hideaway.

The complete instructions are all on the blog, along with some cool posts from other DT members.

Take a look...there's lots of ideas & inspiration posted.

Want to make the flower a charm?

Use a tiny bit and drill a hole, then add a jump ring...

I've said it before...but I'll say it again...

always look beyond what it IS...and think of the possibilities & what it COULD be.

That's how this idea developed.

Head over to the Maya Road blog.

You'll enjoy it.

*** NEWS FLASH***

We can start showing some of our Maya Road CHA projects...

I'll be back tomorrow with the first one...

Until then, I'm off to

make MORE art...
