more on MONDAY...*EDIT @ END of post*

today I'm sharing new stamps...

new art parts & 2 new fun ideas ...

let's start with a brand new set of stamps...

this is titled "optical art"...

the tour starts on the top left with the
"french optical sign"...
this is from a 1903 magazine that we found @ a flea market...
it was falling apart...
terrible condition, but with some GREAT images...
this is one of them...
more coming...

"I may not be perfect"...
I *think* this applies to most of us...
BUT...
we do have AMAZING parts!

"she had an eye"...
I designed this one to fit with some past images...
I have a THING for eyes & the word ART...
I bet you figured this out already...

"weird found object"...
fun saying for altered art...
I have used these words individually too...

"the queen has spoken"...
I LOVE my current queen stamps,
this is a perfect fit...

"we will live"...
this is something I have said since the day Rick & I met...
I say it lots, because it's true & makes him laugh...
so I thought...may as well make it a stamp!

and @ the bottom...
a new "giant background stamp"...
if you've been following along with the new release posts,
you'll see that I LOVE this stamp & use it LOTS...
it's great in any color ink...

and here is...
OPTICAL ART...

also new in this release...

FINALLY...
I cut this next art parts set from the January release,
so it's been #1 on my list for MONTHS...

introducing...

art parts "Queens & Crowns"...

in this package you'll find 8 pieces total...

2 large queens... perfectly sized for this stamp...
2 small queens...perfectly sized for this stamp...

2 large crowns, which fit the phrenology head too...
and several other "men" art parts...
and it makes a fun flower pot too...

and 2 mini crowns...

this is an art parts ATC, using the mini queen & mini crown...

now because the crown is a separate art part,
any background stamp can be used, to totally change up the look...

here's a fun new trick...
I used tim's hanger clips over scraps of paper & filled them with Glossy Accents to create...
custom epoxy wings...

the tiny white dot in the eye was made with Ranger's white pen...
a tiny detail...
but it draws your attention to the eye...

the tiny attacher is strong enough to attach the film strip ribbon to the art part ATC...

there's the new saying...

and again...
vermillion archival stamped over the crown...

I'm quite certain Ranger adds something *addicting* to their inks & that vermillion archival got an extra dose...
@ least my pad DID...

if you've taken a class from me you KNOW that I'm always digging something out of the trash...
it's a joke here...Rick makes fun of me...

I HATE wasting stuff...

which leads me to this...

here's the base of a new project, using the new art parts sweetheart frame...

I had leftover scraps of tim's kraft resist paper...
so I used them to cover the frame, then inked over the whole thing with brushed corduroy...

the scraps are random sized...
whatever width was left over, is what I used...

I found it easiest to paint a section of the frame with Glue N Seal...(I like the matte)...
then lay a strip of paper over the glue & brayer...
add more Glue N Seal...
then keep adding scraps until it's covered...

here's what I have done so far...

here's a good value tip...
buy the small jar of Glue N Seal (it has the brush)...
and refill it with the bigger 4 ounce jar, which does not have a brush...
(and save $$$) instead of buying 2 small jars...

and the last thing...
I had several questions about how I colored in the small window area on the new art parts lamp post...
scroll down & you'll see it in the previous post...

the magic tool is Ranger's Cut N Dry nib...
it's how I color the lips & eyes on the queens & phrenology head...
it's great for inking small areas...
and for adding shading in spots where the blending tool is too large...

HUGE THANKS for the comments & emails...
YOU make me happy...
see you tomorrow with MORE...

it's crunch time now...
only 6 more days to...

make art...(before CHA)...
wendy

favorites on Friday...

I actually have LOTS of favorites...
there's a surprise...
NOT...

but today I'll show you a new favorite...
ART PARTS FRAME and...
another NEW studio 490 stamp set...

and I think I'll throw in a second art parts reveal!
yippee...it's THE weekend! let's celebrate!

one of my MOST favorite art parts that we currently have is the pocket watch...

so I thought...why not make it larger?

this guy has grown to 5 1/2 inches in diameter...

I've used it for several CHA samples...
and I can honestly say that I had a BLAST...
I'm thinking this will make a great gift, when family photos are used...

included in the "Timely Pocket Watches" package are...

2 of the solid pocket watch bases...
2 of the coordinating frames &...
2 of the circle cutouts...

this gives you 6 pieces total for...
"making art"...

I laid tim's ruler next to it, to give you an idea of the MEGA size...

moving on to a new stamp set...

this one is "he ruled it art"...

here's a quick tour of the set, starting @ the top...

there's "the flourish" again,
but it's a mirror image of the flourish I showed in this post...
I like the option of having both orientations available...
and stamping both of them creates a cool border...

"OMG"...
I am so excited to see where people go with this one...
it has a million hilarious possibilities, for sure!

"the gentleman"...
also has a coordinating art part...
I've "altered" him in several different projects...
you'll see that next week...
he can wear all sorts of things...

"the lamp post"...
I flat out LOVE this! And it too has a coordinating art part...
be still my heart...

"specimen collected"...
is great to stamp on a tag or on an envelope that contains a specimen...
it's very easy to use portions of this stamp too, by masking it with Post-It notes...

"you ain't seen nothin' yet"...
gives a hint of what's to come...

"the stache"...
I used this on my large queen stamp...
yep...on a girl & it's funky fun...

and...TA*DA...
one of the "ruler stamps"...
this stamp has a perfectly sized art part, so no more need to chop up pricy vintage rulers...
I like this stamped in jet black archival...
then inked in any color, with distress inks added to the edges, to create an authentic looking vintage ruler...
and the best part...
in ANY color your project requires...
very fun, if I do say so myself...

here's what "he ruled it art" looks like on the storage sheet...

I've been so excited to show this next art parts package of goodness...

meet "mustaches, men & more"...

yes...
that hand is giant...like 3 3/4 inches tall...
so it has plenty of space to stamp a saying!

I wanted to show you a close up of the art parts lamp post...

I stamped it with jet black archival...
inked over it with walnut stain distress ink...
inked the little window area with mustard seed distress ink,
then added rock candy distress stickles for some vintage shimmer...

hmmm...
do I see a hint of another new stamp in the peek above?

speaking of art...

I have more new stamps & art parts to show you again today...
yippee!

let's start with NEW studio 490 STAMPS...

this next set is the title of today's post...

"speaking of art"...

at the top is a "pen nib"...
it's stretched to make it about 1 1/2 inches long...
you'll see that it has a coordinating ART PART...

"limited edition art"...
I like this as the title for a project...
or stamp it on the back of your art...
the perfect spot to sign your work...

"big girl panties"...
some days are good...some days NSM...
like the stamp says...
deal with it! LOL...
I CAN NOT wait to see what blog friends do with this one...

"official rubber stamp collector"...
pretty much says it all...
we may as well tell the world what we do...

"field notes"...
fun to use as the title of a mini book...
or use just the word "notes"...

"some assembly required"...
I see this used to add some humor to our art...
I had fun with this one!

"the pencil"...
this pencil stamp also has a coordinating ART PART...
stamped in archival then inked in any color...it's stinkin' cute!

"artist definition"...
this guy is 3 x 4 inches & defines who we are...
it's sized for the front of a card or I love it as a background, stamped several times on a larger base...
there are lots of words in this stamp that can be used individually...

this also makes a good sign for your studio or work space...

"speaking of art"...

next up is another art parts set...

this set is "tools for art"...

on the left are 3 art parts rectangles, each a different width...
there are coordinating RULER stamps coming in a reveal soon...
they are all different & they are sized for a perfect fit...
these pieces are also great to stamp with any background stamp to create a dimensional border...
or cover them with patterned paper...

in this peek...I used them to make a shelf...

also in this package are 2 art parts scissors...
which have a coordinating stamp shown in this post...
I like to paint them with a metallic paint dabber, then stamp with jet black to add the detail...

next...2 thimbles...
they too have a coordinating stamp...
see more in this post...

and to the right are the 2 pen nibs which fit the stamp shown in the set above...

last...
those 2 little spools fit right on the label stamp I showed in this post...

just ink the label stamp...
lay it on your table...
then press the art part onto the INKED stamp, for perfect placement...

and the package looks like this...

ahhhh...
it feels sooooo good to finally be able to show you what I've been working on...

that's it for today...

thanks so much for stopping by!
if YOU want to speak to me about art...
I'm waiting...

now for me...
it's back to the studio...
I gotta...

make art!

art for men...

continuing on with more ...

NEW STAMPS!

this set is titled...
art for men...

starting with "the boy" on the left...
with his hand out, he can hold ANYTHING...
a fish...an umbrella...a sign...just a word or number...

I am IN LOVE with "the guy with the cane"...
he fits in with vintage & steampunk...
LOVE his boots...
he is the focal point of a very fun project that I'll show you later...

"the fish" are fun to stamp with archival ink,
then over-stamp using Perfect Pearls Mist...
that places the shimmer just where you would expect to see it on a real fish...

the "mini mustache" is so fun & fits several faces that are coming soon...
as well as this face & this face too...

it also works as a...??? yikes...
that's coming soon too...

and "the flourish" on the bottom works well in collages...
since it's a solid image, it's fun to KISS it with other stamps to totally change the look...

*** and here's the best part***
the top 5 images all have coordinating art parts...

this new art parts set is called...
OUTDOOR ART...

here's what the actual package looks like...
so you can see what's included...

there are 2 umbrellas...
2 different sizes,
which can be inked then stamped with any background stamp...
and if you look @ the art...
once again I used wild honey distress stain and stamped with vermillion archival...
can you say...addicted...

I also used the distress stains once again over tim's kraft resist paper...
addicted...

the 2 fish are sized to fit the stamps above...

the fence = fun...
LOVE the bird in black or any ink color...he looks good stamped with a background too...
and the lamp post...
this looks so cool when used with my residences art parts...
with outdoor scenes...
or in a collage...
or with the guy with the cane shown above...

as you know I totally love flowers...

but let me tell you that I have had fun playing with these guys...

talk to me...

gotta run now...

time for me to...

make art!

introducing...

the "artful shrines" art parts frame...

here's another brand new large base for projects...

this guy is 5 3/4 inches wide @ the base & 8 inches tall...

there are 8 pieces in the "artful shrines" package...
2 solid art parts bases...
2 cut out frames...
2 of the cutouts &...
2 extra trim strips for the base...
because it makes the base thicker & like a little shelf...

again, like the other art parts ...
use one piece or layer them...

I used just the cutout with an art parts bookplate for a project...
hey...
it doesn't HAVE to be a bookplate...
it's actually, just a frame......

one more thought...

I rounded the top of the shrine to resemble a snow globe...
a GIANT snow globe...
I have an idea...

how about some NEW stamps next?

this set is called...

"label it art"...

starting @ the far left is a "distressed numbers border"...
it's long...5 1/2 inches...
use it as a border & an easy way to highlight a date or significant number...
use the whole stamp...
or just a portion...

next...the 3 labels...
these are a perfect fit for tim's corked vials...
or...this art parts ink bottle, from a previous release...

when designing, my goal is to add to current products, to refresh them with even more options...

the #35927...I needed a filler for a project...
this fit the bill...
are the numbers significant? NOPE...

next is the "warning stamp"...
my lawyer thought I should notify friends...
LOL...
it's true...rubber stamping IS addicting...

"this side up"...works for lots of things...
like mail art & more...
it can be funny too...
you'll see soon...

the "love potion label" fits the art parts ink bottle & this bottle stamp & again...
tim's corked vials...
the label is good for lots of occasions...
wedding, anniversaries, Valentine's Day...

"serum of art..."
this is pretty much everything I say in classes...
read it & laugh...
but YOU KNOW...
it is all true!
you can use just a portion or a word from this stamp too...

I *think* you'll be seeing a new large bottle art part that is a perfect fit for "serum of art"...
coming soon to a blog near you...

and the last one is a "notice to the IRS..."
art supplies NEED to be tax deductible...
it's as simple as that!
AGREE?

I don't do politics, but maybe we should all write our congressmen & tell them our thoughts on art supplies...

and here's the stamp set...

I used the "artful shrine" and new stamps to make this...

I liked it so much that this is the cover art for book #5...
I haven't seen it yet...I'm patiently waiting...
I'll show you as soon as I get it...

ok...that's my thoughts...
what are yours?

as always...

make art!

locked in the studio...

well not actually...
it doesn't have a door...
LOL...

I still have LOTS to get done before I leave on the 17th...

YIKES...that's just 2 weeks from today...

which explains this mini post...

I'll leave you with this...

I do LOVE tim's Adirondack Color Washes on art parts...

just a quick blast of the color...
dry & you're ready to stamp...

and here's a peek @ the end result...
with a few NEW peeks...

*** my newest tool addiction***

it drills thru metal & ART PARTS like they are tissue paper...
it makes perfect holes for jump rings & fasteners too...
I like that the holes have perfect edges...

I used this 4 times yesterday alone...

GREAT TOOL! you'll like it too!

I'll be back on Tuesday morning with LOTS more reveals...
new stamps & new art parts too...

A HUGE thanks to our wonderful military for keeping us safe & allowing us to celebrate JULY 4th!

I sincerely appreciate my freedom to...

make art!
wendy
ps...my other newest addiction...
vintage door knobs...
be still my heart...OMG...
if you find one or 12...grab them...
I made something really fun...
I'll show you soon.

sentimental Saturday...

thanks a MILLION for the sweet comments & emails...
I'm thrilled that you like what you've seen so far...
guess what?

there's LOTS more...

now about those rulers & labels...
we'll get to them soon...
I promise...
ps...they're cute!

ok...the reveal continues...

today we have another LARGE art parts frame...

this package is titled...
"sweetheart frames"...

included in the package are...
2 of the solid bases...
2 of the heart frames, with the cutout...
and 2 of the cutout pieces, which are 2 inches x 5 inches...

so 6 pieces total in the package...

use each piece alone...
or layer them like I did in the sample below...

there are tons of uses for the cutout pieces...

the frame is about 8 inches x 8 inches, @ the widest points...
so lots of working space...

the art parts scallops are sized to work with these frames...
the large & the mini both fit...

all art parts are designed to mix & match easily...

here's a sample...

I covered this "sweetheart frame" with tim's kraft resist paper, then inked it with the distress stain...

I've had quite a few requests to talk about how to use the stains on art parts & the resist paper...

basically, once you activate the stain flow, by gently pressing the stain bottle to the craft sheet...(that opens the little valve inside)
simply...swipe... & stain right over the surface...

you'll see that because the stains are so fluid, they go on dark & when dry, the color lightens up a lot...

sometimes you'll see streaks too...
but once the surface dries, the result is pure awesomeness...

you can intensify the color by adding one layer of stain...
drying, then going over the surface again with another layer of stain...

these stains are the reason I designed large art parts...
they make it so simple to cover a large area quickly...
then, just go back & add shading/distressing with the distress inks, using the blending tool...
distress stains & distress inks are the PERFECT inking combo...

and I told you I was addicted to wild honey stain with vermillion archival ink stamped over it...
I wasn't kidding...
here it is again...

moving on to NEW studio 490 STAMPS...

I have peeked this guy several times...

introducing...

"sentimental art"...

included in this set are 5 sayings...

they can all be used as is, or there are some words that can be used alone...

the ticket is an actual vintage ticket we found @ an antique store...
I like it lots...

and @ the bottom of the storage sheet...
my newest favorite (at least for today) giant background stamp...

this stamp is a piece of a curtain we found in Rick's aunt's home...
the curtain was so old if you touched it, it tore very easily...
but for some unknown reason, I saved a square of it & tossed the rest in the trash...
that was about 10 years ago...
way before studio 490 existed...
fate that I saved it?
or preserving the past?

or possibly just sentimental?

that's it for sentimental Saturday...

I hope these NEW art parts & stamps will spark you (JULY 4th...get it?) to...

make art!
