If you've visited before, you've heard me say that I wanted to make my stamps versatile...
Here's an example...
This set is called "lower case art".
Here I used the flower as the obvious flower...
The grungepaper is bent up to create dimension...
For another option...and totally different look...
Turn the flower upside down, curl the grunge back...
and now you have a pumpkin!
the idea is still in my head...
Cut it in half...
scallop the edge, add a handle & you have an umbrella!
get the idea?
OK...to enter the "book celebration" contest...
and have a chance @ a $25.00 gift certificate to eclecticPaperie...
Here's what you need to do...
Choose ONE NEW studio 490 stamp & tell us your idea for using it.

Just leave a comment ...

ps...that Ranger box of goodness is still here...
it's the grand prize for later this month...and MORE will be added to the box!
How about taking the stamp with swirls from the Card Art Essentials and using it as a different type of wings? I would make two and cut out an extra middle swirl for each wing to give it dimension...then depending on what I chose to put in the center of my "wings" I'd either leave it as one piece or cut it in half. I suppose one could go a little crazy and make more than one layer of wings(one a little lower and perhaps part of the inside cut out to pull it in) to really make it fancy...everybody does feathers...but this looks like clouds...why can't angels have wings out of clouds? Anyway...that's my idea thrown into the ring.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that many elements in the dimensional rose set can be used to create a gorgeous wreath. I'd make multiples of the flower, stamp and distress them, arrange in a circle, and use either (or both) of the stems scattered around. Add some red stickles for berries.

I like the what I call the "brush stroke leaves" image on both the Make Mine Mini (at the top, in the middle) and the Dimensional Rose Art. I would stamp two images on Grunge paper, stamping on both sides of the Grunge paper; cut out into shapes of wings and use behind an art doll. I actually see lots of wing ideas with several flowers. I love your pumpkin idea!
ReplyDeletenow Wendy - you are pushing me outside of my comfort zone - I am a programmer! I do not have an imagination! I will try - this is my stretch is that several of the flowers would make great suns - layering them with pop dots of some sort, and distressing the different layers to make them pop more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun - I LOVE free shopping too!
Sandra
I am planning on making some mini albums using your new stamps. They will be titled "notes & quotes" and on the first page I'll have your rules to live by and the subsequent pages will have the quotes from your new sets and previous sets. I'll add areas for journalling and photos and, of course, lots of grunge flowers! Not too innovative but I think they'll make wonderful gifts!
ReplyDeleteFor me with the Card Art Essentials set again with the flourish at the top I immediately thought of a butterfly. If you stamped it on acrylic you could use the alcohol inks to colour or on the grunge paper you could turn the wings up so the butterfly would appear to be flying.
ReplyDeleteLove free shopping who wouldn't
Regards
Michelle M
I see beautiful mini wings in the "make mine mini art" set. I think I would use part of the 8 petal flower for the body and the flourish for the wings to make a butterfly!
ReplyDeleteLinda
I would take the same flower from lower case art ... layer the sections and seperate them and you would have a fabulously dimensional water lily.
ReplyDeleteThese stamps neeeeeeeeeeeeed to be available in the UK soon or I may go a bit doo lally!
ACKKK! I love your pumpkin idea! My idea is for the same set (lower case art) and it is to use that round stamp for a hot air balloon. Thanks for the inspiration! Your creativity always inspires me!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at your "row" of images such as the Alphabetically Art (the one with the alphas, numbers & punc.) and Make Mine Mini Art (the row of flowers & leaves)...stamp/emboss?/stickle on a long strip of Grungepaper to make napkin rings! What a great accent on a table!
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at your Card Art Essentials, the swirls at the top make me think of wings.
ReplyDeleteStamp a flower on glossy card stock.
ReplyDeletePaint the flower with alcohol inks.
Stamp the same flower on grunge paper, color the flower using a distress ink pad, stamp with one of the decorative background stamps, and cut out the flower.
Curl the edges of the flower with your fingers.
Glue center of cut out flower to center of flower you stamped on glossy cardstock.
Mount card on matboard that coordinates with colors of your flower.
Adhere in a shadow box and hang.

I, too, see beautiful wings when using the florish stamp in Card Art Essentials. However, living in Florida, is see wonderful palm trees using the flower without the leaves in Artfully said. The flower head in Life & Art makes a wonderful sun. A wonderful start to a tropical scene on a card. Oh,and by the way, love the pumpkin!
ReplyDeletealphabetically art- the big part reminds me of the old radiator covers. I would use this as a cool background with some metallic paint dabbers.
ReplyDeleteThe scroll from the Card Essentials set could be used to create a fence on a card. A cool one for Halloween. The flower you used as a pumpkin could be an onion too for a "Don't you cry " kind of a card.
ReplyDeleteTurn that cute umbrella idea of yours upside down for a basket. You could add a handle. Fill the basket with your flower stamps! Oh the possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI would be using the big background stamp from It's more Flower Art. I would stamp it on aluminum metal, run it through the cuttlebug with the distressed lines embossing folder; then paint it with some black acrylic paint and when it starts to dry, wipe some of the black paint off and it would look like an old metal roof of a house. You would have the texture from both the embossing folder and the image. Would look really cool on a bird house or as the roof of a house shaped piece of chipboard or grunge board.
ReplyDeleteI am in the middle of creating a "Journal for Life" as a Christmas Present for my daughter. I have already incorporated many of your and Tim's stamps (particularly the phrases) but these will be the added touches to finish it up in grand style. Rules for life is exactly what i needed for the first page or maybe the cover?? Love your stamps Diane
ReplyDeleteangel wings and a paper doll dress collar from the scroll and flower stamps!
ReplyDeleteOn the first set I would use the swirls as "wings". Beautiful stamps.
ReplyDeleteI was using your last set of stamps last night. As I was going through them I tought how wonderful to have a pattern paper with retangles of different sizes with all your quotable quotes. I think I would love to take a shot at that with the new stamps.
ReplyDeleteLower Case Art set: Color grungepaper with Distress Inks. Stamp the flower stamp on the grungepaper and cut the flower in half to use it as a flower pot. Then use either that flower in it's entirety if it is proportionate to the pot or use one of your other flowers to use as a flower in the pot. I would use grungepaper for the flower too making it very dimensional. Nancy
ReplyDeleteThe silhouette flower from the Artfully Said set would make great "crazy" hair for dolls or clumps of grass/bushes for landscapes. I love all the new stamps and can't wait to see your new book!
ReplyDeleteSusan T
I would use the flower border in It's More Flower Art to make a skirt for a dancer/girl. I think it would look really funky. Loving the pumpkin idea. I'm away to play with the grungepaper I just bought yesterday. Looking forward to the book as well.
ReplyDeleteI could use the big flower from the "it's more flower art" set to stamp it, carefully cut out the inner part and use it as a frame to accent someone's face on a photo!
ReplyDeleteMy ideas are for the same flower from lower case art..one is to make a lady bug from it & the other is to stamp the flower over the background image then color/cut/layer
ReplyDeleteI see your original flower(updside down) in bright colors as a Chrismas Ornament! The stem becomes the hanger. Of course the leaves would not be inked or in my case covered with a ribbon to camo my mistake :) Your stamps really are versatille. I do see the swirls as Butterfly wings as well- do delicate and beautiful! Thanks for sharing your creativity. melissa
ReplyDeleteI would take the Lower Case Art flower that you made the pumpkin with and turn it upside down and use them as chinese lantern type images across the top of an illustration or in my journal. That set is my favorite set, by the way.
ReplyDeleteOK, here it is. . . I would take the flower from alphabetically-art and make a . . . . . . flower!!! ta da!!!
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for my Alphabetically Art set to arrive and when I get it I am going to use the alphabet stamp in a abc's scrapbook I am working on for my niece.
ReplyDeleteWendy, I would try to make a bow with the 2nd flower in It's More Flower Art and I would try to use the first flower in Lower Case Art for bird feathers.
ReplyDeleteI see the swirls and / or the holly leaves on grunge paper from the Card Art essentials as possible wings for an altered Christmas bird... I need to go write that down so I don't forget:)
ReplyDeleteThe circle image on Lower Case Art would just have to be a beach ball.
ReplyDeleteI would stamp the rounded, puffy flower from the "Dimentional Rose Art LCS015" set over someone's head for a "thought bubble". Just draw a few circles between the flower image and the photo of the person or animal so it looks like those cartoon bubbles. Stamp flower and draw circles on paper and cut sillouetts out to stick onto a photo card.
ReplyDeleteCan't you see a photo of Ranger surrounded by Grungepaper Flower Art, flower shoes and a flowery thought bubble over his head that says "My Mom loves flowers ALMOST as much as she loves ME!" ?
I can envision the flourish on the Card Art Essentials set used as a sophisticated/elegant "bat" on a Halloween themed canvas wall hanging or even on a mini book. I would even incorporate your "pumpkin" into my design. I can also see these same elements used in a Halloween door wreath.
ReplyDeleteI would take the filigree on the Card Art Essentials turn it on it's side, add another one back to back and use it as a main design on the card. It is so beautiful and elegant! I love your new stamps.
ReplyDeleteWell I am a little on the strange side!! So the first thing I thought of was to use the 'Card Art' one... I think if you take the holly stamp that you would normally use for christmas cards you could use it to make an "evil" little fairy with spikey type wings!! I think it would be great with purples and oranges!!
ReplyDeleteLove the new stamps; can't wait 'til my order arrives! I think the solid flourish in the Dimensional Rose Art would be a dynamite plume on a bird collaged with several of your background stamps.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a large enough print stamp, like the one in Lower Case Art, to stamp my extra large Prima flowers with!
ReplyDeleteOK...so I love the holly on Card Art....I would create it mulitple times...out of Metal and color with mulitlpe colors of green Alcohol Inks...man handle and create a wreath...and dot with red berries of felt! Ohhhhhh what a beautiful card that would be! Maybe my christmas card this year...mmmmmmmmmm!!
ReplyDeleteA definite must have set now that you have the mind whirling with ideas. Great samples and ideas. Thank you for sharing as always. I am going to have to say I would take the large flower from the "It's More FLower Art" set - snip off three petal and make a dancer - draw some legs, perhaps stamp a head image behind. Not sure anyone else can imagine this but I would give it a shot. :) Can't wait to go home from work and MAKE ART!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Wendy, now I will have to get the Lower Case Art set to!! Love the pumpkin idea!
ReplyDeleteOff of the Make Mine Mini Art set I would use the flower that is shaped like a tulip and turn it upside down and use it as a hat. On Alphabetically Art set you could use the leafs as a mustache. Many possibilites on all sets! I have ordered two so far and really hoping they come by the weekend so I can play!!! If I win the gift certificate, I will definetly use it to order another stamp set! Thanks Wendy!
I would use the phrase "our tomorrows" from Dimensional Rose Art in different combos. For example: start with dreams, start today/start tomorrow, our dreams, the dreams start today ...
ReplyDeleteThe fern looking leaf on Dimensional Rose Art - those would be great cut out and used on a water page, or something with tears. Additionally, the larger swirls would be cute individually with some rhinestones alongside as accents.
ReplyDeleteI saw the holly leaves on Card Art Essentials and immediately thought of cutting them in half to use as creepy little bats.
Others have said this of the flourish on the same set ... a cute set of wings on an angel, or creepy little wings for a wretched little witch.
The Card Art Essentials' swirl ... could be used as a photo mat, as wings (butterfly, angel)... I love all your stamps! Simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI would use the half circles on the "lower case art" stamp to create a beautiful border on a layout...Thanks for giving us a chance to win some of this yumminess!
ReplyDeleteI see the text on lower case art stamped on top of acrylic abstract paint on gessoed watercolor paper. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI really like Art-fully Said and I would use the rules to live by for my kids layouts. I like to make layouts for them that "talk" to them...for when I am gone.
ReplyDeleteWow, I just had to let you know I received my two sets of stamps today in the mail that I ordered from Eclectic Paperie on Mon. they are fast! Plus they sent some rub ons as a little gift, they are awesome! So are my stamps!!!!! I can't wait to play with them tonight!
ReplyDeleteWith the Make mine Mini set you could custom build your own flowers add so much dimension to them by layering them.
ReplyDeleteI've looked at the new sets several times down, and I always seem to come back to Art-fully said. I hate to give away all my secrets but...I might stamp the typewriter background on a solid cardstock and sponge it up with distress inks to make it look vintage. Then, I would overstamp the flower several times using Versamark, cut out the flowers, and build up several layers of UTEE on the flowers. Then I would have some 3-dimensional flowers to use as accent pieces on a project.
ReplyDeleteOn the set Card Art Essentials, the very top image would make a beautiful butterfly. Love your examples of the 3D flower and then the pumpkin... way cool. Thanks for this chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI would take the lowercase art flower and stamp it out 2 times on 2 different pieces of paper. I would then color in the 2 images, and then I would cut out th petals on the second stamped image. I would use dimensional on the petals, and then attach them onto the first stamped image. Want to give the flower a kind of 3D effect :)!
ReplyDeleteInky Hugs,
Catherine

I'm spending the day making atc's for a live exchange tomorrow. So I have atc's on my mind. I would use the Make Mine Mini Art stamps. I'd make a background with random flowers ~ stamp "celebrate today" and then stamp some flowers on glossy paper that I've colored using alcohol inks ~ cut them out to make the flowers dimensional. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteI would use the Make Mine Mini Art stamps on ATCs. I'd stamp and ink the background with distress inks, cut out and layer grunge paper flowers, and add lots of TH embellishments!
