First...
let's set the record straight about the photo from the last post...
YES...that REALLY is how I looked when I got a glimpse of tim's new goodies....
I'm just sayin'...
AGAIN...
it's TOTALLY AWEWSOME stuff...
just you wait & see...
BUT, that photo was actually taken back in July in tim's studio
(NOT mine)...when I was there for cruise planning...
I wanted to show it the minute I saw it, but decided to save it for the perfect post...
hey...a girl has got to have a few secrets...
NEXT...
Please don't ask hard questions...
tim has a MAC...I don't...
so I have NO answers about MAC stuff...
MAC apps etc...SORRY!
I can barely get this blog typed!
Remember...
I'm OLD & almost illiterate...sad but true...
But I can tell you this...
you're in for a treat when you meet Lori Hassler...
today's guest artist.
Lori actually lives about 25 miles away from us...
Lori showed up @ my first cruise workshop wearing this AWESOME SHIRT!
I spotted it the minute she walked thru the door...
Here's Lori's recipe for making this shirt...
she kindly shared it...
(actually, I swiped it from her blog...)
Now, this started as a plain, white T-shirt from my local WM. 100% cotton, washed and dried with no fabric softener. I ironed freezer paper on the inside, so that when I sprayed it with Adirondack Color Wash Ink, it wouldn't bleed through the shirt and end up being a big ink mud puddle. Then I thought, "How am I going to apply the words?" Well, some sort of paint would be the obvious choice, so I used Lumiere metallic paints by Jacquard. I also wanted to incorporate some of Tim and Wendy's stamps. I stamped on the fabric first with Archival jet black ink, then used that as my pattern to apply the paint. Now, the painting was done first before the colorwash was applied, it resisted the colorwash, and stood out pretty well I thought. I decided to use a diagonal pattern when applying the colorwash. I used Cranberry, Butterscotch, Lettuce and Stream. I washed the shirt when I returned home, so some of the dye has washed out, but for the most part, is still intact. You do have to heat set the colorwash spray. I ironed over it with an old iron, then threw it in the dryer on high heat after that, before I did the cold water rinse when it was all done. So, here's the little phrase I came up with for the back of the shirt.
"Vecchi + Holtz equals 490 Voltz of Articity".
Here's the back...
I LOVED the saying! It's sooo FREAKIN' COOL!
Details from the front...
I might be prejudice...
but what a cool stamp on the sleeve!
I like Lori's stamp choice on the other sleeve too...
And here is the cute face who made the shirt...
Not only is Lori an artist, she is VERY funny.
If you visit her blog, I guarantee you will laugh.
Her posts are just hilarious...
A HUGE thanks Lori, for sharing your art with my blog friends...

The shirt is really cute - I am using your stamps for Christmas presents - my oldest daughter wants an apron so I am going to use some of your stamps to create her something cute to wear. I always love reading your blog.

I've read Lori's blog. Her shirt is just beautiful. I have been using the spray inks in an online class on art journaling. We spray through all kinds of stencils. Messy but oh so cool. Can't wait for some sneak peeks.

ReplyDeleteHer blog is a hoot...and believe it or not (it is hard to believe) she just started blogging after the cruise! She is a newbie! And yet, has created an interesting and extremely entertaining blog already.
