Like I said yesterday...
blog friends are THE BEST!
There were a few comments & (I got several emails) asking about Claudine's multi medium...
Here's the scoop...
it does clean up with water...WHEN it's WET...
but once it's dry, it IS waterproof.
This makes it VERY useful for LOTS of things...
It's kind of hard to understand the odd properties...
but it's TRUE.
This is another...trust me!
Several people were concerned that heat from the mug would "melt" the multi medium...
NOT SO...
I've been using this tile for a few weeks.
I boil water in the mug for my tea...
believe me the bottom of the mug is plenty hot...
another...trust me...don't touch it!
The multi medium is still PERFECT!
That's my story & I'm stickin' to it!
NEXT...
Here's the link to a NEW RANGER video...
This one shows Jackie (from Ranger) using Stickles to make a card, with a cool stained glass effect.
It's obvious she works with SUZE...
and the BLING effect has certainly rubbed off on her...
(tierra & ALL!)
OH...and this is exciting...
Jackie used my poinsettia & make it merry stamps for the video!!
YIPPEE!!
I use the stamps with grungepaper, but Jackie used them on a transparency, for a totally different look.
That's why I LOVEEEEEEE rubber stamps...
the same stamp can be used with many different techniques...they're so versatile!
THANKS Jackie! It's a GREAT...funny video.
Take a few minutes...check it out...
So...you liked the quickie gift tile project...GREAT!!!
Here's today's simple gift idea...
This idea came about because I HATE wire hangers...
HATE them...REALLY HATE THEM!
The minute I walk in the door with something from the cleaners, I toss the wire hanger before I even take my coat off...sad, but true...
I'm not sure why I thought you needed to know that...but anyway...now you do!
I picked up a package of 2 plain wood hangers @ JoAnn's for $2.50...
just last week...
They are very sturdy and generic looking...
but they have LOTS of gift potential!
a collage of my stamps, stamped using jet black archival ink.
Just stamp & heat set...
add a Maya Road gingham ribbon...
DONE...
5 minutes for this...or less...
Exhibit B...
if you're a blog reader, then you know I HATE to waste stuff...
So those paper scraps can be used for another version of the hanger...
Start in the center of the hanger...
make sure the first scrap is straight...
then add scraps working out toward the sides...
just like wallpapering...
Use a craft knife to cut off the excess...
use tim's sanding grip to distress the edges...
Add a Maya Road gingham ribbon bow...
I present...exhibit B!
So those left overs from a project...
are already coordinated...
use them up & make art!
*
Another thought...
you could stitch the scraps together first...if you're INTO sewing.
*
And it's fun to coordinate the colors with the decor of your recipient...
*
Little things make me so happy!
*
On to Exhibit C...
no photo for this one...it's still in my head...
but here's my plan...
*
I'll make the same hangers with the mini jenni bowlin papers, since they coordinate with our bedroom.
I have been searching for the perfect vintage baby dress...to hang on this hanger.
It has to be the PERFECT one...
I'll know it when I see it...
*
I think it will look cool hanging on the wall...
now...
now...
to find it...
****************************
OK...DRUMROLL.........
our first winner is...
Here's the associated comment...
I bought your book from Eclectic Paperie and received it earlier in the week and I LOVE it. I need some Ranger supplies now to make some of your wonderful projects. Thanks for such a wonderful book. I cannot wait to make everything in it.

great information about the medium and the hangers are great!
Love your stamped hanger- you could have a whole wardrobe full, similar but using different stamps.
Love those hangers! The stamped one would also be great on wide frames.
The hangers are just awesome! Love that idea! I comment because, well, I like to get free stuff! LOL
Another cute gift idea - I have some thinner wooden hangers - will have to try it. Thanks for the information on the medium.
Love the hangers!!! I think I may make some and since they are masculine looking with the background stamps, give them to my sons! Maybe, maybe, maybe, they will be influenced enough to use them to HANG UP their clothes!! I am definately making one with the country kitchen Jenni Bowlin papers (the flour sack ones) for my SIL, she will love it!!! You know if you got a pants on with clippy thingys you could use it to hang in the kitchen to hang hand towels on, or do a bathroom theme and put decorative towels on them in the bathroom, oohhhhhh, the possibilities are endless!!!
The hangers are a wonderful idea. Love them both, but really like the look of the stamped one - could work as a gift to either gender.
Thanks for sharing,
xoxo
I too hate the wire hangers. those wooden ones decorated like that are awesome!
Congratulations Southern Cricut! Enjoy your prizes!
The hangers are a great gift idea! My son LOVES wooden hanger. Guess what he will be getting under the tree? Thank you for the inspiration and the chance to win!
Linda
The hangers are cool. Color coordinating to the decor is inspired. Will have to try this with hubby to see if it helps him hang up his clothes.
I love the idea! It is a perfect gift idea for my hard to shop for person. OOO What about one with a wool added to soften the corners.
Kathy
What a terrific way to use up those paper scraps. I just started saving my scraps and love ideas on ways to use them.
Love the hangers! Think I'll make a few for my husband. He loves everthing I make, and has asked me to make him something "masculine". I think this will do the trick. Thanks Wendy
Both hangers are great Wendy but I really love the stamped one! It's so vintagey looking...Very cool! TFS!!
Inspired to make MORE homemade gifts :)
Very cool hangers! Now I know why I keep so much stuff around, so I can transform it all!
Love those hangers! You will have to buy several perfect little vintage dresses to display!
The hangers are just inspired. And such a great gift. Love, love, love, love, love.
As ever, thank you for the genius ideas.
I wouldn't have thought of stamping on hangers but they look great!!!!!
I'm off to JoAnn's for those hangers. Oh,the things that can be done with them. Thanks for a jump start with your two projects.
DTS
Love the cool gift ideas. Never thought of stamping on a hanger. Might have to check out the tile idea though. Looks like fun. Thank you again for the chance to win.
Love the hangers! I DO have vintage baby clothing (my mom's) & have been searching for some time for more hangers to use with them. These, with Jenni's papers, will be perfect!! Mucho gracias! (<--trying to think cruise thoughts today to battle the cold temps here! lol)
Who ever would have thought about stamping hangers? Wendy, of course, love it!
Wonderful post today. Love your hangers, I too hate wire hangers and have been picking up vintage wooden hangers for alteration for years. I use the wire hangers for craft wire, LOL. Happy Holidays!
Those hangers are a fantastic idea! Might even try myself if I can find any in my neck of the woods! LOL
Thanks for the chance to win today.
xoxo
great idea for the hangers!!!! sooooo simple and sooooooo cool!!!
Love the hangers!
I am ABSOLUTELY NOT surprised that you HATE wire hangers! I would have been disappointed,if you did. Great idea!
As I'm sitting here wondering what would be some inexpensive but attractive gifts I could give but yet have a handmade flare to them, and you show us these hangers. Now I'm off to JoAnn's at lunch time. I give little gifts to my team members here at work and this is such a great idea! Thanks for sharing your awesome creativity.
I hope you are recycling those hangers! Thanks for the great ideas. Keep em coming
love the ideas you keep having! Taking the time to make my christmas gifts this year...more personal..save a few pennies too..and much more nicer!
Loving the hanger ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats to your winner!
Another great gift idea!! Thanks so much. I'm picking up some tiles today & I'll be hunting for some hangers now too. ;)
Great idea on the hangers! I wonder if you ever sleep?! How do you come up with all these ideas? I hope you show us the finished project of exhibit c....
Those hangers are the bomb, I have seen the round wood ones covered in yarn, but I love stamping and that is a piece of art on its own!
I can't wait to try the stickels flower!
It is amazing that you can make even wire hangers look good! I am excited and thankful about the chance to win that multimedium and stickles.
If only Joan Crawford were so creative! (ha,ha)
What a fun posting, and some great last-minute ideas!
The hangers are a fantastic gift to give to the hard-to-shop for person. Thanks for sharing - and of course, the chance to win!
Another great and quick idea, thanks. I'm off to Home Depot for the tiles, do ya think they have hangers?
Great idea on the wooden hanger! I don't like the wire hangers from the cleaners either...however, we collect them and take them back to so they can use them again ... recycled and I don't have to use them! Congrats to Southern Cricut for winning today's prize!
I love the hanger idea.....it's a great idea for someone who doesn't really need anything.....like my mother in law!
I love this project. How simple it that. I also hate wire hangers.
Sue
You definitely see things differently than I do. I need a set of your eyes. I hope that doesn't sound too gruesome. I didn't mean it that way, I just love your point of view. Love the hanger project. I'm going to have to look through my house to see the potential of decorating plain surfaces. Thanks, Wendy, for the ideas.
Thanks for addressing the "heat" issue. And instead of "sewing" the papers...you could just use some seam binding(you know, the ric-rac stuff)...and this would have the added benefit of keeping slinky things from slipping off of the hangers. Just a thought. Or old ribbons...or metal foil tape(if you really wanted to splurge...fancy Xmas papers and metal tape trim...maybe drill some holes along the bottom of the hanger and thread heavy string through to the top or glue in... and then clip...using Tim's clips, of course,....Xmas cards to it). I need to get some of that multi medium. Winning some would be nice. And Maya road. (I already have most of Tim's stuff...not all of his stamps...not all of your yet...working on it). But then can one really have too many distress stickles? I don't think so.
I've been using Claudine's matte medium for a number of things and I LOVE it. Great idea for the coasters. I've been meaning to try some of those and just never have . . . you might have pushed me along. Now for the coat hangers . . . I LOVE them and its a fabulous idea for a quick and easy gift. I now see them as being the focal point of another wall hanging . . . keep adding more is more!
Congrats to the winner ... hoping it will be me next :0) Love the hanger ... soooooooo cool X
Those are some classy hangers! I really like the idea of the little girl's dress on a fancy hanger.
OK...I am so on board with this blog candy. I have tons of distress and other stickles, but I don't have Claudine's multi medium, and would love to play with that stuff!!! I have to go back and look at her acrylic paint transfer techie...I am in the mood to play with that today (after the 12 tags for the day is done, of course). Crossing my fingers here, Rockin Robin C (stampinsavage at yahoo dot com)
Fantastic hangers! Must go stamp some NOW!
Pretty cool hanger! Love it!
awesome idea for the hangers today....I have some lying around and I have been wondering what to do with them and now I think I know....totally going to try this! Thanks!
I haven't tried the medium yet, I'll try it when what I have is used up. I love the stickles, I'm using them on my Christmas cards.
Great hangers. I'm thinking some jungle prints for a niece.
What cute altered hangers! We've come a long way from just crocheting around wire hangers with any old leftover ugly yarn, huh?? :)
I love your easy and practical ideas for gifts. The coasters yesterday and the hangers today are just great. Easy but they have that WOW factor!
Hi Wendy! I cannot believe how much we have in common. I have the same mugs you show in your coaster example. Guess I better get busy on the coasters!!! lol
Take care...
What a great way to make wooden hangers look pretty. Can't wait for time to watch Jackie's video.
i'm sold! i've been debating about whether to try Claudine's multi medium ( i already have a brand a like),but her formula sounds like it's got some scrapbook magic to it.
TFS,
linda t :)
I love the idea of the hangers.........and what a great idea to display a vintage dress on......oh my the possibilities. Thanks.
Your projects are just to easy & cool to believe! Thanks. Keep em coming. I'm in sponge mode, absorbing it all.
The stamped hanger is the best idea ever! I'd love to win today's product give-away. I'll check out the video too!
Who would have thought, hangers, I know I never would have! Thanks for more awesome inspiration!
Love the stamped hanger!!
Happy Anniversary! Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your blog. Neat ideas for the hangers. Those look very nice. Thanks for sharing.
I'll have to check out the video.
Congratulation to Southern Cricut.
What fun, new products to play with.
Have a great day.
:)

Love the hangers and love that you are sharing your blogversary with us with prizes and what great ones at that!
Love the hangers. Making a list and checking it twice to make sure I have everything to make something REALLY nice.
Congrats to Southern Cricut and good luck to everyone. Thanks for the great prizes.
First...thanks for doing this!!!
Second...the hangers are too cute!
Third...here's hoping I get lucky...I've been dying to try some multi medium.
Have a great Tuesday.
The hangers would make great gifts! Will check out the new ranger video! Thanks for sharing your quickie gift projects!
So very, very Mommy dearest of you! It doesn't fit with the image that I have you. But your hangers are so obviously superior I think that I now have a serious wire hanger aversion as well. Happy holidays!
I have been laughing about how much you HATE wire hangers.... "Mommy Dearest"! My DH & I quote that line from the movie.
I LOVE your ideas for wooden hangars~beautiful!
Love the tree stamp on the tile and the stamps used on the hanger. Thanks for the info on the multi medium. It's good to know it's waterproof.
I think even I could make the wooden hangers! Love them.
What a fantastic idea! I especially love the idea of hanging an antique baby dress on one covered with vintage paper. I would LOVE to win some of Claudine's Multi-Medium, I have not been able to find any at our LLS, and have been dying to try it. Crossing my fingers!
Any time I see a wire hanger I think of Mommy Dearest. That movie scarred me plus the fact the wire hangers would leave rust on my clothes when I was a kid because of the humidity. The wooden one it great and I can see lots of ways it could be used. I may have to pick a couple up to hang some art quilts with.
Oh, I love the wooden hanger idea. I also hate wire hangers, but tend to replace them with plastic as wooden ones are normally rather expensive (here in the UK), but I will keep hunting for cheaper ones to alter.
what a great idea with the wooden hangers! I am needing to get some new hangers and these would be lovely!
I am loving Exhibit A, how clever! Thanks for so many great ideas Wendy!!
Fab idea with the wooden hangers. Those wire ones should be banned! Thanks for the non-stop inspirational ideas.
The hangers would be a lovely gift for a friend.... Just darling and love the different use for stamps ! I think I have most of the ones you used - great idea !!!
Wendy,
The hangers are great!!!Such a clever idea!!! Thanks for sharing AGAIN!!!
Love the hangers
quick
easy
cute
what else could you ask for?
Everything you make is awesome.
I have played with
Claudines multi medium
and love everything it
does. Want to learn more.
Thanks for sharing all
the techniques you do.
Can't wait to take a
class with you sometime.
Thanks so much. The hangers look like a quick, great idea. Easy is the word.
Great tips! I love the idea of using paper scraps to decorate the hanger.
Wendy, Thank you so much. I emailed you with my info. I am so excited to win . You are so talented. I hope some of your talent will arrive in the box with the blog candy. Thank you so much!
Tina Johnson (Southern Cricut)
Always looking at your blog, lots of inspiration. Love your stamps slowly collecting them all, will have to hurry up before the next lot arrive in the new year. Also my cupboards are heaving with maya road and idea-ology stuff (its all so addictive) Keep Making Art for us.
Hi Wendy - great idea - thanks. your ink class in madison so inspired me that i started doing tim's 12 tags today...just so i get more practice with all the stuff you taught us. way fun. can't wait to see tomorrow's idea...thanks again, nonnie
Cool Hangers!!! I am always so inspired by your cool ideas!!
The hanger is such a cool idea for man, woman or child. And it could also be painted and sanded before adding papers so the edges are covered as well. I think I will be using this idea this year. Thanks so much, ms.cheryl
What an awesome idea with the wooden hangers - perfect for stamping
Great timing. I have some of your stamp sets and I am headed to Joann's tomorrow. I see some fancy hangars in my future. All jackets and coats require wooden hangars. I must also start stamping the ones now in use.
I can't wait to make a hanger with my favorite paper-Basic Grey Stella Ruby.
wow idea with the hanger. Thanks for the inspiration
love the simplicity of your projects. keep 'em comin'.
So cute, great for a baby shower!
Who would've thought ... hangers ... what a great idea ... can't wait to see what you have planned for us for tomorrow ... off to make art!!!
Wendy -
I love your idea for the hangers. I think they would make great gifts. I also love Jenni Bowlin paper so, I think they would look really cute with that paper. I am in love with Graphic 45 papers, in particular the Renaissance line, these would look great on the hangers. I think your idea of stamping the hangers is really cool. I think I would use a variety of your stamps, and then color the images with prismacolor pencils, a little gold leafing, some stickles and then spray the whole thing with a fixative to seal everything. Oh, I think I have to go and get some hangers now.
Keep the gift ideas coming - I love them.
Thanks
Elaine Allen
Liked the "art deco" wood hanger technique: attractive yet cost effective. I think I'd paint on a coat of modge podge or something similar to seal it once it's does.
Love the hangers! Geez the things you come up with are amazing. I have never tried the multi medium but would be willing to if I can win some! HINT HINT. Thanks again for all of the great ideas and I love your stamps...now to start stocking up on the new ones...it never ends!
Jennifer
Great idea for the hangers. So original! I love Claudine's multi-medium. I wish Ranger would sell it in the little stickles size bottle. It's so much easier to use that way.
Love your helpful hints and ideas, too. One question though...does Rick have man-gers in his closet? Ha! LeAnn
thanks for sharing!
Sandra
Thanks for the great gift ideas, Wendy. Not only are they pretty & practical, they're even doable for someone like me with NO time.
WOW WEndy, the hangers look great, I have some hanging in my closet that my mother decorated when she was in home ec. class 40 years ago, she wrapped them with ribbon and they are still beautiful, I can see a shopping trip in your future to look for vintage baby dresses, that would be tons of fun!
Hugs from the beach!
Dawn
Love the hangers! Can't wait to see the dress you pick out!!
Decorating a hanger - now that is a hoot! That would be a great gift for my hubby to put on the back of his office door - instead of the metal hanger that is there... thanks for the idea!
I watched the video - hmmmm wonder what the flower would look like with yummy distressed stickles!!!
Wonderful tips love the hangers. . . way cool!
Love your work!!! so inspiring. I think the hangers are an awesome gift idea. tfs.
The hangers are a terrific idea! Thanks so much for sharing.
love what you did to the hanger and I love the multi medium too.
I think the hanger idea is great! Oh, and I'd never even heard of the multi medium until the cruise, and now I'm using it for all kinds of things.
Did you know that if you coat an inkjet image with it (very light coat, dries almost immediately), you can color the image and the printer ink won't smear or run? I was going to buy a laser printer, and I just saved myself some $. Pretty cool, huh?
Eileen in NYC
Ok first of all thank you for the links...there were so many great ideas!! I LOVE your hangers too - I have a joanns but would have never known what to do with a hanger...geez you make it look so easy, girlfriend! LOL I love the Jbowlin mini ones and want to see them when you make em up!!! (I mean in the room, not just on a counter)...gotta get the full effect, right? Thank you for always making this place top notch fun!!

I bet I have some wooden coathangers about here; I think today might be a good time to start looking for one; and if I find it, I will give it a "do."
Love the hangers... and I am now inspired to do the same technique on a few other wooden items that I have around the house. I have been using Claudine's multi medium for a while... and it is wonderful!
What a great way to dress up your closet. I am envisioning matching dresser, shelves, walls, and now hangers!! Thanks for the inspiration.
Wendy,
I forgot to say Congrats to the winner!! Thanks for sharing the new Ranger video-very NEAT!!! Thanks for giving us step by step instructions for your ideas, I wish I could spend a day making art with you!!!
The hangers are a great idea Wendy ;) Have to admit I had intended to come by and check out your first quickie handmade gift idea but unless I put reminders on my mobile (cell phone to you)I'm hopeless :-/
Anne x
Love that hanger idea. I think there are some plain wooden hangers hanging around here somewhere.
Hiya ! I'm new to your blog ! I've been enjoying browsing through your projects.
I've got some wood coat hangers in the closet right now :) Would be especially lovely, if you buy someone some type of apparel to go with it. Or even as a housewarming gift. Or just for decoration, they're so pretty !
Congrats to your winner !
Love the hangers Wendy and thanks for the Medium "clarification" :) hehe. Congrats winning post!!
Love those hangers!!
Hi Wendy,
Decided to make some of these hangers. Couple of questions...
Did you sand them before stamping? They have a shiny surface....
I assume heat seating is fine since it is a permanent ink - correct??
Thanks for your assistance
