flowers are IN style!

That makes me so happy...

While shopping last Friday I noticed flowers on everything...
purses, shoes, sweaters, scarves, headbands...jackets.

YIPPEE!!

As I passed an accessory area of my fav store...
I spotted lots of flower pins...

They caught my eye...
they were adorable...
they were pricey...

$45.00 -$48.00 for a layered fabric flower?
CUTE...but I think not...

Enter tim's new tattered floral Sizzix die...

I had a bag started for Goodwill...
things the dryer shrunk...
I'm sure that's what happened...

I fired up the Big Shot Express...
chopped up those old clothes and made FLOWERS...
lots of flowers...

This one is my fav...
because I like the colors...
or maybe it's because I ADORE the button...

no wait...this is my fav...

this one is for my friend who cuts my hair...
she dresses in black 99% of the time...
and always wears a jacket...

and another...

and if you're sitting there thinking ...
she's nuts...now she's addicted to dies...
let me just say that there are 8 more all cut, layered, stacked & ready to be assembled...
I just need to find the perfect flower center...

Hmmm...

I wonder if there is a Sizzix ANONYMOUS...

Come back tomorrow...

I'll have my post done EARLY...

really early...

You might want to schedule some extra computer blog time...

I'm just sayin...there's fun grungy stuff coming...

tomorrow!

It's a sunny Monday...

a perfect day to...

make art
wendy
ps...I WILL make kits...not more flowers

I WILL make kits...not more flowers...

I must keep repeating this...

  10. I really must go and get a Sizzix - those flowers are too darn cute. I didn't realize that a Sizzix would cut through material as well as paper. You've probably created a fellow flower making addict - so I'll see you at the group meeting.

  14. 48 bucks??? Seriously? Yours are all fabulous! I took a bunch of flower dies to my sis' house yesterday and let her play cutting fabric. I showed her how and let her go. I was too tired to do anything, but I do have some in the works. And she really, really liked Tim's flowers.

  15. This post is so funny :).I love your flowers. And if it makes you feel better, I'm a Sizzix addict too, and Tim just made it worst...

  16. I love your flowers. Boo, hoo, I don't have a Sizzix... maybe one day, if I win the lottery!

  17. Of all the addictions in the world...somehow I don't think making flowers is one you have to worry about...unless it makes you so oblivious that you don't know notice that your house is on fire!!! Great flower pins(and so green!!!). For those of us that are sort of button addicted(once made a mistake and took a class for a beaded necklace that included antique buttons...well, there my sanity went...have you ever seen such great miniature scenes? This is the addiction you really have to worry about...hours spent combing through jars and cardboards filled with buttons of all sorts...glass, metal, crystal, shell, wood, old plastic...name excapes me...newer stranger stuff. Want to have fun? Go to a button show. Then you'll have too many buttons and the flower making will really start in earnest. Just saying. Stay away. Get that tool from Imaginesce where you can make your own brads...bet that you can cover their brads in matching material...then you can have a button when you need one. A word to the wise. Unless you enjoy talking to yourself. Looking forward to tomorrow!

  18. Oh, I love them! Are you serious about the prices? I've been making fabric brooches for ages, and if I EVER should get Tim's die that I pre-ordered, I'll be using it for that same purpose!
In the mean time, I use another sizzix die, but those tattered florals are sooooo gorgeous.
Anyway, I just acquired a great button stash, so I'm ready.
My Tattered Floral die will come today....my Tattered Floral die will come today....
    Arghhhhhhh!

  36. I've seen those pins your talking about at various department stores and you're right, they are way over priced and personally I think they look cheaply made for what they are charging. But that's what is so great about us crafters/artist's, we can duplicate those things for far less and in the end they are much nicer in my opinion. I'm not saying this just because I adore you, your artwork and your products, but I truly love your flowers you made here. They have that grundgy feel to them and they are so cute. They will make great gifts to your friends. I can't wait to find some extra money to buy a Big Shot so that I can find some more extra money to buy Tim's dies. I love them all. And I keep thinking that you know from now on at each CHA show he'll be coming out with new ones,so I want to try and get all of these and not get behind once the others come out. I hope you don't mind me talking about Tim and his products on your blog? I kind of think you you two as partners in crime.

  40. Love the flowers Wendy!!! My tattered florals die (and a few others) came in the mail on Saturday. Sadly, I have not had time to play with them yet. I have an I-top, and can see using some fabric to make an I-top brad to match the flowers!! I have more ideas than I have time. Can't wait to see tomorrow's post. With all the build up..I suspect it's going to be awesome. Can't wait. Hugs, Rockin Robin

  55. looks like goodwill lost out on some great dryer-shrunken clothes. very nice flowers. my goodwill bag would not yield anything this lovely. but, my cloth scraps, lace and whatever drawer may just have some pieces that would work. must get more dies.

  63. Love your layered tattered flowers. Would you mind posting the instructions? Looks like there are at least 6 layers. How did you finish the flower so that it can be used as a pin? Thanks for any tips you are able to offer.
