for my birthday, one of the great gifts I got was a FLIP video...
this is my first try...
it's funny...
& it's NOT edited...
I had no clue what I was doing...
I can't spare the time learning it right now...
in addition to Christmas (which is also rick's BD), we're in FULL CHA mode here...
we have projects EVERYWHERE!
but I wanted to try the FLIP & see what it would do...
and since we're friends...
I thought I'd share...
don't make fun of me...
remember...
I'm old...
I ended up with this...
was I right? HILARIOUS?
the race...?
it's to get everything done for CHA!
our trip was soooo much fun.
after the holidays I'll try to do a better video with explanations of the process...
or after CHA?
just a quickie report...
we started @ the factory that makes the natural blocks of rubber into rubber that ted uses to make stamps.
it was awesome to see the whole process right from the beginning...
the big roller thing you see in the video is making the natural rubber into usable sheets...
the rubber sheet is laid over those brown boards you see...
then it's slid into the vulcanizer, which is 300 degrees & it's pressed with 50 TONS of pressure for 7 minutes...
so..."hot off the press" really means HOT off the press...
we also got to see how my books are printed...
we had no clue that it is printed 4 times, with each pass thru the machine adding another layer of color...cool!
we got to meet everyone who works for ted to make us art parts, books & stamps.
VERY FUN!!!
if you look closely...
those piles of rubber stamps are...
THE NEW ONES!!!!!
I hope I started your day with a laugh...
NOW...
it's time to...
make art!
wendy

ReplyDeleteThat was a great video!! I am a bit behind with technology so I've never heard of a Flip, but that's really cool. Don't start contemplating leaving the stamp world for a life as an "action movie" producer. We need more stamps!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just bought one for her hubby for Christmas. Want to use it at my grandson's wrestling matches instead of lugging the big one. Hope this is the first of many.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe that was a first try! Xmas isn't even here yet and I can't wait to see what's new at CHA!Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy Birthday to Rick!
ReplyDeleteThat is great! Very professional looking. I can't wait to see more. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteHave a great day Jolande from Holland
That was fun--enjoyed it very much!!!
ReplyDeleteYour video was quite cute! Very "fast paced" just like you life right now! And, in case you wonder...there was no chance of this "older lady" getting more that a glance of your "rubber babes!" Since you have so many deadlines...above, below, to the side and under you...don't forget to take a moment...relax... and "smell the ink!"
ReplyDeleteOooo, did I see FLOWERS??
ReplyDeleteWow. That is AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteWow! We're expecting great things from you now, Wendy - you have set the bar high!!
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing Christmas, and Happy Birthday to Rick, too.
Love the video! It's very slick.
ReplyDeleteThanks to you (and Ted) for the peek at how our rubbery goodness is made! Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Great job on your first flip video. Looks like you took some time doing all the titles and things. Can't wait to see the new stamp sets. I am sure there are a few I will "have" to have.

Those flips are great, aren't they Wendy! I use mine to make tutorials for my blog - will we be seeing some video tutorials from you in the future? I can't wait! :) I was just thinking "how does Wendy have her flip now, when surely it's still in the back of Santa's sleigh?", and then I noticed it had been your birthday, lol Many happy belated returns :)
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what a "flip" is...lol...but it sure was a cute video....lots of "rubba"...yum!!!
ReplyDeleteA flip is so much more convenient to carry in your purse. Maybe that will be on my wish list next year.
ReplyDeleteGloria H
Wow, that's really, really cool. However, it was a little fast to really get a good look at those stamps. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's really, really cool. However, it was a little fast to really get a good look at those stamps. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the screen the timer/clock thingy is set to all zeros so I thought maybe there wasn't a video. Clicked on the screen and there IS a video! ReplyDeleteDawn in SC
no way - that was done with a FLIP? Seriously???? In any case - it was GREAT!!!! tfs....again....and always. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you did a commendable job with the video, considering you didn't read the directions and just went with the flow! Good job! just think of the possibilities. My head is spinning!
ReplyDeleteI repeat-played and paused that video several times to catch a glimpse of those new stamps--gotta get me some new glasses!!! Great production number--but please don't leave the world of stamps for a career behind the camera in Hollywood! Can't wait to see what's in store for us in 2011. Have a great holiday and new year, Wendy! Helene
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift to get a flip camera. Loved the video too. What a fun time you will have adding to your blog and for us to see life in motion! Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!! You are just one diverse woman! :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Rick ... and Merry Christmas to both of you!
I thought the video was GREAT! Never heard of "flip" - what is it exactly? looking forward to those stamps WHEN do we get 'em?
ReplyDeleteBravo for the first video-- sneak peak with a touch of flowers--however I did not see any steampunk and I thought I remember you mentioning that at For Keep Sakes in Dec. So exactly how many stamp sets can we all expect for a new release?? I need to know how much I need to start saving now. LOL Thanks for the sneakie peak!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah for you Wendy! Was your tour that quick? I can't wait to see the new stamps! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

ReplyDeleteThat was the cutest vedio. Practice makes perfect. Rick is a Christmas baby, my husband is too.
ReplyDeleteTell Rick Merry Birthday and Merry Christmas to you also.
Guess I need to educate myself on that one. Never heard of a FLIP video. Great production!
ReplyDeleteGreat video Wendy~!
ReplyDeleteI thought that was very cool Wendy! And really good for your first try. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteOh the beauty of iMovie, the Flip, your Mac and your imagination. THAT was a most excellent debut production. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes! that is your first attempt? Scared of you.
ReplyDeleteWendy, for some reason, your comment section really does not like me. I have no problem leaving comments for others, but on your blog, it takes me multiple tries, either it doesn't like my password or the mystery word is missing or wrong. And frankly, I'm really not witty enough to warrant all the effort.
ReplyDeleteKathryn Harpold
Merry Christmas Wendy and Rick. Merry Christmas Everyone!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Tim "Disney" Holtz didn't help you with this cool video? It is fast, slick and not a first time looking video at all!
ReplyDeleteGood, now you can do video tutorials for your Fans! Yay!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Whew! I just got my computer back and was able to watch your Flip video... LOVE IT! You are an ace with it! :-)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR WENDY! I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEW PROJECTS FOR 2011 AND TO MAKING ART!
ReplyDeleteI am TOTALLY embarrassed! I have had my flip over 2 years now and yes, I've made a couple of recordings, but how the heck did you figure out how to put all that extra stuff in your FIRST EVER video?! WOW, color me impressed Mrs. Vecchi!
