I went from sad to oh so happy...
a few months ago, the key turned & my local scrap/stamp store closed...
even though it's about 70 miles from here,
it's the closest to me & I considered it my HOME store...
I LOVE the owners, LOVE the staff &
ADORE their customers, who are now my friends...
I was sad to hear of the closing...
back in May I taught @ a new (to me) store in Moline, Illinois called The Scrapbooking Studio...
it's an AWESOME store...
very well stocked with all sorts of goodies...
nice, neat & ORGANIZED...
just what I love...
and a VERY nice staff...
@ the end of the day, Amy Sprague, the owner,
asked my thoughts about opening a store in Bloomington...
she had heard that MY store closed...
fast forward...
the key will be turned on September 17th @ the same location and MY store will re-open with Amy as the new owner...
Jennifer & Malika will be working there again...
they are expert scrappers & instructors, should you need assistance or ideas to get you started...
I'm happy they're back!
rumor is Amy Coon will be teaching there too...
Amy Sprague likes full day EVENTS...
and makes it nice & convenient by including lunch for everyone...
hey... we gotta have energy to...
MAKE ART...
so, on October 29th...
I'll be back @ MY home store for a full day of inky/stamping fun...
workshop details will be announced soon...
now that little turn of the key,
will make me VERY HAPPY...
3 cheers for Amy & best wishes for continued success
since it's getting close to Halloween...
(and everything else I've been creating is TOP SECRET)
I thought I'd share a fun piece I made for tim's idea-ology booth @ CHA, this past July...
it's constructed from an art parts large creative cover, an art parts circle and 2 art parts rulers...
the creative cover was covered with the new Halloween kraft resist paper...
this piece is loaded with fun stuff...
corked vials...
new Halloween adornments...
the title is ransom alpha parts...
and Ranger's memory foil tape creates the seal for the bottle ...
and the dots on the seal are made with the sewing tool that I talked about in the previous post...
I cut the head from the kraft resist paper & used Glue N Seal to add it to Clearly For Art...
that allowed me to heat it & shape it to create a shrunken head, that's nice & sturdy...
I LOVE my spider hanging down...
that's it for today...
I still have LOTS to accomplish before I head south tomorrow to
The Stamping Place in Columbia SC...
I *hope* to be back early tomorrow morning for a quick post with a link to some eye candy...
it's a beautiful sunny day here...
a PERFECT day to...
make art!

I too was thrilled to hear that Scrapbooking Studio is opening the store in Bloomington, IL! I visited their Moline store for the first time last spring to attend one of your classes and it has become my favorite store. They have the best selection, and their classes are so much fun! I so missed having a store to visit in Bloomington and now that problem is solved. By the way, your Halloween art is just darling. Love the shrunken skull!
ReplyDeleteWAY COOL piece! Love the shrunken head, brilliant! And how cool is it that Amy is opening that store? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW!!! I am so glad that Amy is opening the store back in your "home" area!!! I think I met her at Tim's classes in Kansas. She seemed really on fire and from what I understand about her store in Moline, she "gets it" that altered and mixed media art can live harmoniously in conjunction with regular scrapbooking/cardmaking. :) Yay for you! Your Halloween piece is phenomenal! I LOVE every wicked inch of it!! <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteoooh cor blimey and thrice, that there is one seriously GORGEOUS piece of art... I am embracing Hallowe'en this year after being converted last year - us Brits just don't "do" Hallowe'en enough.... and those new Idea-ology goodies are so gonna have to come and live with me lol So chuffed that your LSS is going to be re-opened, that is goodly news indeed... have a lovely day in the sunshine, tis a sunny one here too! x
ReplyDeleteeeewww!!! Lovely my little pretty!!!! What an awesome project. I can't seem to get enough Halloween, never have, never will. Just ask my pal PKW who helped me redo my scrapbook room - I'm sworn to no more buying, well that is unless she gives me permission. lol
ReplyDeleteSO happy to hear that your store will be opening again, we can't survive on boxes and junk stores, we NEED our local stores.
How sweet having a LSS is great! Love your very spooky piece.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that another store is opening! I will be there on the 29th for sure. Yippeeeeee!!!!! Have a safe time in South Carolina since Irene is not playing nice. I wish she would go out to the ocean and leave the East Coast alone. Love your piece, especially your idea for the shrunken head!
ReplyDeleteI love your Halloween piece! It's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI also don't normally 'do' Halloween but I need to have a rethink after seeing this. Love that shrunken head & the scaredy cat!
ReplyDeleteI am another that doesn't "do" Halloween, but this is so gorgeous I may have to make an exception after seeing this!
ReplyDeleteGood news about "your" local store - wish I was in the right continent to pay a visit!
If only I was closer to IL....alas I will have to live vicariously through your blogs -- keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteWendy I live in Ohio I hope someday to visit the new store and oh how I love your project today absolutley one of my favorites ever!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool about the scrap store!
ReplyDeleteLove you Halloween art too!!
Be safe1
That's so cool about the new store. These days you only hear about closings, not openings, so I wish them great success.

ReplyDeleteAmy is the best - her store is my local LSS and helps to feed my addiction. I'm so glad she was able to buy this store and I hope to be able to take your class there in October.
