well...
sort of...
here's the deal...
I got an email that said...
" I bought your stencils with the hope of making some simple cards. I'm just a beginner & trying to find my way. Now what? Where to start?"...
I can't remember the last time I made a card...
so this was a fun challenge for me...
***warning***
no brown distress ink was used for this project...
I know...
it's SHOCKING...
even to me!
I thought it was wise to warn you...
I filled in the never enough hearts stencil with tumbled glass,
using the blending tool...
with the stencil still in place,
I used my honeycomb background stamp,
inked it with tumbled glass & lightly pressed
the UN-MOUNTED stamp over the stencil...
next, I removed the stencil &
used jet black archival to stamp this flower...
here's what it looks like so far...
to color in the flower, I used these distress markers...
I used the detailer water brush to move the color...
this works great on water color paper...
now it looks like this...
I decided to add a border with my stripes border stencil...
I used scattered straw & the blending tool...
remove the stencil & this is the result...
I traced around the heart with the bundled sage marker & spread the ink with the detailer water brush...
then used a waterproof pen to loosely doodle around the heart...
to add more detail...
I put a small amount of peeled paint stain on my craft sheet...
picked it up the stain with the water brush, then tapped the brush against my finger to add these cute tiny inky dots...
it unifies the piece...
I also added some doodle lines around the perimeter,
with a fine waterproof pen...
I almost quit there...
and you sure could...
but I decided to add some tumbled glass around the edges,
to create a frame effect...
I accented the flower with a
& added my favorite little crow too...
this took a total of less then 15 minutes,
so this is a very simple design that
you can quickly & easily create...
but it still get a great result...
I was going to mount this on a card base...
but I just might put it in a frame instead...
here's a fun idea for a Mother's Day gift...
or just a gift for a friend...
you could make several cards...
change up the color & the sentiments...
and tie them together with a pretty ribbon for presentation...
now about that winner...
CONGRATS to...

Love the card. I have (6) 4 X 6 watercolor panels stamped with large
ReplyDeleteflowers and colored in with distress
markers. They have been sitting around because I couldn't decide
what to put in the open centers of the flowers. Now I know what to use.
Blossom Berry Centers dabbed with
a little gold distress ink. Thank you.
Great card!!! I love making cards!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!! It would look equally good mounted as a greeting card or placed in a frame. Will be sure to check out FB later!
ReplyDeleteLovely card. The doodling adds so much. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove the card !! I can't tell you the last time I made a project without brown ink :) I"m going to have to try one without too. Have a great weekend Wendy
ReplyDeleteLove how easily you made this card. A few elements, a good eye for design, and 15 minutes later you've got something frame-worthy. Thanks for the inspiration to pick a few and just get started.
ReplyDeleteLove this card and great step-by-step directions! I'll take paper sunshine since I can't get the real thing!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful card Wendy! Thank you for the clear instructions - very helpful. I don't do facebook, so would love you to show your other card here too please?
ReplyDeleteI love it when you make cards! I recently cleaned out my stash of "stuff" and found several cards that I had made (copied) from your first two books... wow! I'd forgotten how cute they were and relatively easy to make. Card making is more to my liking than most other projects since they are quick to finish and so much nicer than store bought. Your card today is a beauty... thanks!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful card!!! or framed piece!!! Congrats to Dawn!!!
ReplyDeleteWow stunning card, I really love the simplicity and elegancy feel to it. Happy Crafting :-) Kezzy xxx
