happy Friday!
here's a little tip that I don't think I've shared before...
after I had my pieces all glued together for this sample,
I decided that I wanted to add a hitch fastener to accent the stem...
why didn't I think of it BEFORE I glued it all?
duh...
this area has 3 layers of art parts, so the long screw wouldn't work this time...
don't fret...
enter plan B...
use an awl to make a hole, where you want to add the hitch fastener...
put a toothpick in the hole...
cut the toothpick to the approximate length...
test drive the hitch fastener top
to determine how long the toothpick should be...
if too long...
trim off a bit more...
add a drop of Multi Medium to the hole in the hitch fastener...
the top will dry secure & will sit flush on the art,
just as if you had used the screw...
plan B = SUCCESS!
I discovered this tip before tim came out with the long screws...
I have used this method with the faucet knobs, clock keys & the curio knobs too...
and this works well on thin material,
where the screw hole would be too large...
like the thin stem above...
I love the long screws...
they are a cool tool & can easily reach thru 2 layers of art parts...
and you still have enough length to screw on the top portion...
**********************
before each new release...
I get lots of questions and requests...
more backgrounds please...
YOU BET!
how many new stencils do you have?
I could have done 40 but...
the magic number is 10!
yes...love love love stencils...
I'd love to see more of your smaller sets, for lower budget shopping...
STAY TUNED!
any new embossing pastes coming?
I *think* I SEE A NEW ONE in the studio...
can you show us more card samples?
lots of the samples I post can be made into cards...
I usually use art parts for the base of my project, because after CHA, the samples travel to all the conventions with Ted, so they need to be extra sturdy...
tag art can also be the inspiration for a card...
would you consider making "outdoor scenes"
like with trees/mountains, but your style...
sorry...it's not happening! lol...
mustaches are so popular, you should make an art part mustache...
hey...I did those about 2 years ago...
there's a mustache stamp on this set & on this one too
& I did 2 mini art parts mustaches too...
I'd love to see more of your flower stamps...
ME TOO!
STAY TUNED!
and they are so cute!
when do you show us everything?
I'm not sure of the exact date just yet...
probably around July 10th-ISH...
and a little reminder from kim
that all my products are 20% off at eclecticPaperie...
the code to enter is...

oh...and art parts too...

and I leave you with this little peek...
yep...

there just might be a prize involved...
Wow! The first to post a comment on your blog! I am so honored.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you, in advance, for more background stamps and more stencils. I am so addicted to the stencils and have found so many uses for them!
Look at how great the bricks turned out with embossing powder ... http://globecraftmemories.blogspot.com/2013/06/bricks-burlap-and-metal.html
More fabulous sneaky peeks, seriously fab tip and exciting hints of what's to come! What a way to start the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have also used the "stem" part of a Q-Tip in place of the toothpick for this technique. Tooth picks are not as readily accessible for me, but those Q-tips are always within reach!
ReplyDeleteOoh love the sneaky peeks!!! No tips.....
ReplyDeleteI love that peak!!! The colors are beautiful and I'm thinking that might be translucent embossing paste?? I suppose it could be clear EP... hmmm... I guess I'll just have to wait and see!! Well, maybe it is white and then colored???? Whatever... I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing!! July 10th will be here in a snap!!! No tips except using Studio 490 makes making art more wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the sneaky peek. Cannot wait to see all your new products. My top tip is when you are die cutting anything from card, do not bin the aperture that is remaining, use this as a stencil and apply Embossing Paste through it. Simply tape into place and apply the paste. Looks fantastic. Tracy Evans x x
ReplyDeleteLove the peeks! Off the top of my head I have no tip. I am sad. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI would say check out Pinterest and You Tube for some fabulous videos and pictures of mixed media and stamping. Helps me a lot and is just plain inspiration.

I can't wait for the new stencils and background stamps!! The newest peek looks fabulous!! My tip would be to make sure you clean the stencils after using them...I ruined a card today by not cleaning ink off of one and using it again, getting the wrong color of ink on my project :( Happy Friday :)

Can't wait to see the new stencils! That is an awesome tip about the hitch fastener...hmmm.....as for a tip, how about the old standby...odd numbers are better! Pretty lame, I know, but that's the only one that comes to mind right now. LOL
ReplyDeleteI've been busy working on covers for new binders for all my Studio 490 stamps (35+ sets and counting!), and I'd love for you to check out my post at stampwithstephanie.blogspot.com. I hope to finish my 3rd book tonight with a tutorial!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all the projects! Can't think of any tips to share.
