NEW stamps, Sisi's & stencils...

finally...
I can share what I've been working on...

it's a LONG post...so be prepared...

ready set...GO!

I have 3 new small stamp sets...

#1...

PAPER DOLL ART...

I have some fun samples with her...
she's great for cards or art journal pages...
I like her...
she's got attitude!

that chevron piece top left?
it has MULTIPLE uses...

it makes an apron for her...
or make her shorter by cutting off part of her skirt & using the chevron piece as her skirt...

use just a portion of it to create a crown...

stamp 2 & it makes a pair of cool wings...
can you see it?

stamp multiples to create a layered flower...
a good way to use up scraps...

and it's also a lampshade when used over my lamppost stamp...
ps... it's flippin'...ADORABLE!

LOVE THE FLOURISH with lots of my flowers...
and the sayings will be fun for art journal pages...

#2...

SAY IT WITH ART...

the sentiments on this set were designed & sized with card & tag makers in mind...

that lace at the bottom is sized to fit #8 tags perfectly...
Rick had to hide it so I wouldn't use it on every single tag I made...
I'm not kidding...

the little pattern has nice straight lines for easy cutting & layering...
wait 'til you see the samples!

they look like mini quilts!

how stinkin' CUTE is that mini flower? I especially LOVE it with the flower inked with forget-me-not & the stem with leaf green archival...
then I add black glaze pen dots to the flower center...

#3...

HOLIDAY ART...

you asked for holiday stamps, studio 490 style...
here it is...with a twist...

when designing this set, I wanted holiday images, but I also wanted to include some images that could be used year round...

I like versatile...

I didn't want 100% holiday specific...

so...
that frame can be used without the sentiment...just block it off with painters tape or a post-it & you have an everyday frame, that can be used horizontally or vertically, depending on your need...

cut it up to make corners...

it's super easy to emboss & then color in the little rectangles...

the sentiment is lowered in the frame so that the bow can be cut out & layered over the top of the frame & not cover up the words...
it's a quick & easy gift tag & a good way to use up card stock scraps...

the bow can be used for lots of non-holiday projects...
I'm loving it for the stems on flowers...

it's cool on the top of tags too...

and the fir tree is a basic tree, not specifically a holiday tree with ornaments...

the word tree makes a statement as a card front...

this release also includes 2 large individual background stamps...

#1...

LOTS OF LEAVES...

I've used this one whole & I've used just portions of it...

it's great for spotlight frames...

use it like shown or turn it upside down & stamp it across the top of a card to create hanging leaves...
add some small flowers...

super fun...

you'll see soon...

#2...

VINTAGE LACE...

I KNOW I shouldn't have a favorite...
but this might be my most favorite background stamp EVER...

Rick had to hide this one too...

there are so many "sections" on this guy...
mask off half of it...
to use on the bottom half of a card...

or
use just the middle section...

cut out & layer the "quilt-like" pieces...

it's fun to add bits of color to certain sections with markers...
and I LOVE adding glaze pen dots too...

it has so many possibilities & it coordinates perfectly with the lace on SAY IT WITH ART...

next up...

3 NEW STENCILS!

if you already have my ornate dots background stamp...

you'll LOVE this coordinating stencil...

#1...ORNATE DOTS OVERLAY STENCIL...

this stencil can be used alone...
or...
stamp the ornate dots background in any color ink...
then overlay the stencil...

now we can add color to just the dots...

or...

we can add white or colored embossing paste to just the dots...

or...

translucent embossing paste can be added over the inked & colored dots...

or...

it will look great with the metallic embossing pastes applied thru the dots...

flipping FUN & another way to use the ornate dots background stamp...it makes the background stamp look totally different...
which makes me H A P P Y!

here's the cutie...

#2...

BASICALLY BRICKS STENCIL...

the bricks are back & BETTER than ever!
YIPPEE!

this stencil is great to use with embossing pastes to add texture to your background...

and it looks great when inked thru, for flat backgrounds...

great for cards, tags & art journal pages...

it's simply...awesome!

#3...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS STENCIL...

I wanted this stencil to be perfect for the holidays, but I designed it to be used for other occasions too...

see those trees? they can be layered with the tree from HOLIDAY ART and also with the HOLIDAY ICONS sisi I'll show you below...

the gift is a 2 part stencil...

stencil the box in one color...
lay the ribbon portion over the box & ink...to easily create a multicolored
giftbox...

it's also fun to stencil the box & cut it out to make it dimensional...

there are 2 sizes of MERRY CHRISTMAS to coordinate with the 2 trees...

this stencil is great for cards & tags too...

next...the hugely popular...

STAMP-it STENCIL-its...
aka...SiSis...

these guys make life SO EASY!

they include a large stamp or 2 smaller stamps and the coordinating stencil...all in the same package...

I have 6 to show you below...

#1...

CHRYSANTHEMEM...

quite simply...
I LOVE this...

use it as is or combine it with other stems & leaves...

I cut out just the flower & used it with flourishes on a card...

so FUN...

the bird is a smaller version of my current bird stamp...
I'm thinking momma & baby bird?

#2...

PRETTY LITTLE POSIES...

remember that bow I talked about earlier?
it's the perfect finishing touch for this bouquet...

stamp the bouquet, lay the stencil over the stamped image...
color the flowers then add translucent embossing paste to just the flowers...

it's a great effect!
need a quick card?
this is IT!

#3...

FLORAL FRAME...

this makes a great card front...

use the stamp & stencil together & color in the individual areas with inks or with distress markers...

OR...

use just the stencil with ink...

OR...

spread embossing paste thru the stencil...

I used black embossing paste...it looks like velvet & adds no weight to the card...

gold embossing paste thru the stencil on black card stock will be so classy!  that's on my TO-DO list...

#4...

PANSY...

Rick had to hide this one too...

there are so many ways to use the PANSY sisi...

if you look at the stencil...you'll see that the flower is layered...

this makes it easy to add color to the outside edge of the flower...
then reposition the open flower part of the stencil & ink inside the petals...

SUPER FUN!

LOVE the mini butterfly, which is sized to layer over the butterfly on my current LITTLE BITS stencil...
totally changes the look of the larger butterfly...

the open flower stencil can be used alone...with some hand drawn funky stems & leaves...

I made lots of samples with this one until Rick hid it on me...

one more thing...
the flower center is a standard size office hole punch...
making it simple to punch out & create a dimensional flower center...

#5...

HOLIDAY ICONS...

this SiSi coordinates with the other trees...

this tree is taller & skinnier...
great for using with the others to create outdoor scenes...

the gift Box is partially covered by the stamp (do not open until Dec 25), but this gift box is taller than the box on the HOLIDAY ART stencil...they work well together & look great cut out...

the holly is so cool...

just stamp the holly...
lay the leaves part of the stencil over the stamped image & ink the leaves...
then position the berries part of the stencil to easily ink the .berries

it's really cool to add translucent embossing paste to just the berries...really makes them POP!

this stencil can be used all year round too...

#6...

FOR THE HOLIDAYS...

OK...this SiSi is in the top 3 of the list...

the wreathe can be a holiday wreathe or it too can be used for any occasion...

I created a congrats card using the wreathe with just the flower portion of the PANSY...

I designed the bow as an open image...

that allows us to stamp any background stamp or to stencil over the bow to change it up...
it can have text, polka dots, plaid, checkmate and never look the same...

it's an easy one to cut out & add dimensional tape to pop it up...

I thought I'd show you some samples to get YOUR creative juices flowing...

here's the FLORAL FRAME colored with distress markers...

I even cut it out & added it over the card front for a little extra dimension...

and here's a peek at the same FLORAL FRAME, with black embossing paste spread thru the stencil...

they look so different...

can you imagine the metallic embossing pastes thru the stencil on black card stock now?

the next 2 samples show the lace from SAY IT WITH ART...

this tag is completely flat & the lace is stamped with tree branch archival...

you'll see that I used just a small part of it for the bottom of the tag...

same lace stamp...but this time embossed,  colored in & layered...
this was a BLAST to create!

the BASICALLY BRICKS can be used with embossing paste like this...

and YES...you CAN layer embossing paste...
both the bricks & the wreathe are embossing paste...

you can use white embossing paste & premix the brick color in a mix & store jar, using reinkers, then add the wreathe over the DRY paste bricks...

or plan B...
spread white embossing paste thru the brick stencil then add color using archival inks with the blending tool like I did here...

I used a combo of red geranium, carnation red, some potting soil & some watering can archival...over the DRY paste...

with the stencil in place, you can also add light touches of watering can archival to the brick edges to darken them...the new round mini blending tool is perfect for this!

I like it!

oh...and I stamped thru the wreathe stencil to add some text...

tiny text...works on all projects...

or plan C...
ink & stamp thru the stencil for a flat, but dimensional looking brick wall...

that's the PRETTY LITTLE POSIES sisi...

here's some holiday fun...

this is on a #5 (smaller) manila tag...these will be super quick for the holidays...

you can see that I changed the sentiment inside the frame & turned it 90 degrees...

the holly was inked with leaf green archival & then stenciled over with the checkmate stencil, using fern green archival...

I used carnation red for the berries, stenciled words & little bird...

next is another #5 tag...
LOVE LOVE LOVE the layered gift boxes!

can't wait to use them on a birthday or anniversary card...

don't forget that you can stamp THRU a stencil with an un-mounted stamp! see the text & polka dots on the box...but not the bow?

see the checkmate stencil on the tree?

for you PINK girls...

PINK...YIKES...

use carnation red with a very light touch to create a pinkish color...
like I did for the top border...

here's how I used the LOTS OF LEAVES background stamp to create a frame...

can you see why he HID the PANSY?
haha!

I may be blonde...
but I'm not stupid...

I found it & used it again!

this next card is completely flat except for the bow...

the large word tree stamp makes it a fast one to mass produce...

dandelion archival for the star...
leaf green for the tree...
jet black archival for the trunk...
all on one stamp...

the next sample shows the tag top, stamped using just a small part of the giant VINTAGE LACE background stamp...

it's also stamped over the art parts flower...

and I used the LOTS OF LEAVES background over the art parts stem...

I'm addicted to cutting down the #8 tags to 5½ inches tall...
I love the proportions...

removing that ¾ of an inch is dramatic...
try it!

and the last one for today...
a self portrait!

and the sentiment fits...

I LOVE my life...
I LOVE my art friends...
and I REALLY LOVE to make art!

I'm so excited to hear your thoughts...

talk to me...

while I make (MORE) art!
wendy
ps...come back next week & I'll share more samples...

UPDATE!
these will start shipping on MONDAY July 28th...
so NO long wait to make art!
