day 4...celebrating more

hey...that rhymes!!

Sorry for the late post...Mr Blogger has not been one bit cooperative today...
I've been tangling with him since 6AM!!! grrr...

Here we go again...another quickie gift idea for you.

This is also a candle...
I like the kind with a glass lid...
or a metal one like this one...

Cover the top of the lid with paper.
If you're lucky to have a perfectly sized punch...
good for you!

If not...(like me) just glue your paper in place, trim the excess & sand the edge with tim's sanding grip...

Next, ink your background stamp with coffee archival & lay it rubber side up, then press the lid onto the stamp.

The benefit here is that since the lid is recessed, you can press from the inside of the lid to get a good image.

You can also stamp your paper ahead of time...but it you're trying to center an image...the first way is easier.

Ink with brushed corduroy distress ink and a little faded jeans...

Add some pen stitching...
and now the lid looks like this...

Make the rose according to the tutorial I did here...
then lightly accent the rose with rock candy distress stickles.

Stamp the large flower and the smaller onto the smooth side of the grungepaper, using jet black archival.

Ink both with faded jeans, using the blending tool.

Overstamp both flowers, front & back with your choice of background stamps and jet black archival.

I used the alphabet one on the larger & the polka dots on the smaller.

Assemble as shown below...

Next...add a bow made from netting, then add a word stick to the bow using a jump ring...

The finished candle...

What's cool about putting the flower on the lid is that once the candle is all used up...
toss it...
just buy another same sized candle & swap the lid...
and you're ready to go again!
SIMPLE!

Now for PLAN B...
You can add a trim strip of patterned paper around the jar...

or PLAN C...
you can roll the candle on a large background stamp.
That's a bit tricky...but if you have a FUBAR...
just clean the glass with alcohol blending solution...
and start again.

On to the giveaway...

nonnie DID contact me yesterday...incase you were wondering...

OK...the winner of my book, some multi medium & MORE is...

I love the rock candy on the rose...do you remember the candied rose petals from France? They also did violets. I think this would be really cool to do on a jar of rose jam (yes, there is such a thing...seems to be Middle Eastern...haven't actually had it in years...but, boy was it good on an English muffin!) And they make such pretty jam jars, sometimes. And you could do something with flameless candles...check it out if you haven't seen them. A whole other world. And no chance of fires. Well, look forward to what's next.

Great candle idea...beautiful rose...I always give candles at Christmas...thanks! Speaking of roses...I didn't have enough parts to make a metal rose for Tim's tag yesterday, so I traced the 5 petal one on grungeboard and cut out. Srayed with brushed corduroy mixed with perfect pearls heirloom gold, and it looks pretty close to metal! It's only 3/4 inch wide and adorable!

Hopefully the first of the year.
I love stamping and cutting....Congrastulation Miss Iowa.
