255 comments equals 10 prizes!!!!!!!

CHA was AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ...
what else can I say?

TOTAL FUN...and a little work...
but even that is VERY fun...

Everyone that I spoke with was thrilled with their sales which makes me believe that the economy is improving...YIPPEE!!!

It was soooooo fun to meet up with friends...
it's a BLAST to be around people who get this inky madness...

lots of teaching talk...
that schedule will be coming soon...

And the winners are...

You must be kidding...
I have LOTS of photos to show before we get to that...

Michelle (Mrs. Stampers Anonymous) made a new booth sign for me...

it's big...probably 3 feet long...

it caught me totally off guard...
and I almost cried when I saw it...

I abolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

She had the factory guys enlarge my stamps to giant size & then they were printed on grungepaper...
the card in the lower right corner is about 5 x 5...to give you a reference...

OK...
so I TOOK my camera...
and actually took 55 photos...

now guess how many look decent... grrr...

There are some projects missing...
STOLEN from the Maya Road booth...
can you imagine...

I hope the person enjoys it...NOT!

And more of my projects were stolen from tim's idea-ology booth...

again...not nice...

and then...a stamp set was stolen from Ted and 6 of my new books...

hmmm...so if you see someone who has the above items...
call the FBI!

OH WELL...there are millions of GREAT people & I guess a few rotten ones were there too...

Off the soapbox...

The new book is cool...if I say so myself...
the photography made me soooooooo happy.

I'll give some away when I get more...
in a week or 2...

Here's a sample I made for Ranger using their new product "enamel accents". This shows the white...

Enamel accents also comes in black...yippee!
here's that sample...

Here's one of the projects I did for tim's idea-ology booth...

LOVE LOVE LOVE his papers & you'll see his new Sizzix dies used for the flowers and a few new studio 490 stamps......

NEXT...
I'd like to introduce you to my new BFF...

Meet Ms. Olivia...

She's the newest member of the Maya Road family...

Whenever I had a break...
I'd run over & grab her from Caroline...

She is absolutely THE SWEETEST baby ever.
NEVER a tear...
ALWAYS happy...

I think I'm in LOVE!

I grabbed her this day too...
I kept her facing out...
I was trying to teach her to shop so she learns how to spend her dad's $$$...
Sorry David!

I told you in an earlier post (sort of) about the Ranger challenge.

The title this time was ...
"MELT ART is the HOTTEST TICKET"...

We were each given the same ingredients...
a 10 x 10 piece of wood & the wooden ticket...

lots of Suze products...

We had to use both of the wooden pieces...
that was the only rule...
the rest was up to us...

I TOTALLY waxed everything...

it took me a full month to figure it out...

I started by glueing a Jenni Bowlin paper to the wood base & went from there...

it turned into the ...
ticket to make art...

I had a hard time getting a good photo...
here's another...

Every single thing is waxed, except the metal accents...

After waxing and stamping, I added turquoise Perfect Pearls...

last one...
more waxed grunge...

NOW...
these are the 10 winners.........

catching up, a cover, CHA and a CONTEST!

catching up on details...

I spoke with Ted last night...Mr Stampers Anonymous...
the new stamps are made & will start shipping January 28th.
They're sent out in the order they are received...
YIPPEE!

He's in California already...he reminded me to bring an umbrella...yuck...

He said my book will ship mid February...so not too long of a wait.
another...YIPPEE!

Did I tell you that the cover is much heavier this time??

Ted also said that the photography is REALLY good...

he saw the book for the first time last night...

I'll get a copy either tonight or possibly on Saturday.
Even though I know what's in it...
I'm dieing to see the final...

I finished the 2 new acrylic storage binders...
they're a fun project...
Here's the first...
new papers from tim's new idea-ology release...

For the second, I used some (items) that tim hasn't shown yet...

so I can't show the second one today...

But it will be up early tomorrow morning...
it's a totally different style...

Several have asked if any of the new stamps come wood mounted...

YES, some do...I think we chose about 18 or maybe 20...
I'm old & that was a while ago...so I forgot! The Stampers Anonymous web site will have them listed, but not until after CHA...

Ok contest details...

We'll keep it simple...

just choose your favorite set...or...if you already have an idea for a specific stamp, I'd LOVE to hear what you have to say...how you plan to use it...

They're all shown in the previous post.

So...just leave a comment on this post and that will be your entry ticket...
one per person...

Now here's the deal...
more comments.. equals...
more prizes...

I'll send out a prize for each 25 comments received...

so 50 comments equals 2 prizes...
100 would be 4...

2,000 would be...YIKES!! REALLY A LOT of prizes!

5 small...7 large...

NEW studio 490 stamps...
for your viewing pleasure...

REMEMBER...you can click to see them larger!

Starting with the 5 small sets...

The storage sheet for these are about 70% of the size of the large...

you'll see the small storage sheet has 7 scallops instead of the regular 10...

they have 2 holes & still fit the acrylic binder...

OK...#1...

I LOVE houses...
had to make us a house...

use the whole stamp or cut out just the house or use the saying...

I want to use just the (DOOR) alphabet several times & make a border...

another small set ...
here's the bottle and label!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these words...
REALLY!

#4...the register page makes a GREAT small background stamp...
it's a decent size...about 2 1/2 x 4...
it has turned into a go-to FAVORITE...

Here's the heart from the tag I showed you...

and #5 has that top & MORE!
The large dots are a good filler...

SO...that's the 5 smaller sets...

On to the 7 large sets...

Lots of questions about the scallops on the tags I've been posting......

Oh my, I can't wait until we can order your book. Question- the scallop edge that you are using your new stamp on, how is that cut?

Yippee! I have the first book and love it. I can't wait to get the next one.The cut scallop edge on the bototm of the tags, was that hand cut or die cut?

stamp the scallop stitches toward the bottom of the tag...with the rounded out part toward the bottom of the tag & cut with scissors...

that stamp makes it simple to cut scallops!

The paper fastener label is sized to cut with a circle punch...

The button holes make a fun border...
add a button over the stitches...simple!

The Measure slip fits with the "Fashion Style & Art" set...
or it's fun for a collage...
or...it can be the cover for a mini book...
it's a nice size...
or just as a background...

The "SHOPPING" saying makes me laugh!

the face is @ the top of my favorite list...
and the leaves...
and the ticket...

YIPPEE...a houndstooth background...
nice & worn looking...

LOVE the weeds too!
and the long alphabet...

We NEEDED more leaves & I'm quickly becoming addicted to the PLAID background...
LOVE the large flower too...

Don't miss the tiny row of numbers...top left...
I HAD to squeeze that one in...
too cute to save 'til the next release...

These will be great fun for collages...

FUN lips for love-y dove-y cards...
Valentine's Day...

or...just a funny saying...(bite me!) ha!

WHO SAID THAT? YIKES...

and we got 2 LARGER roses!! YIPPEE...
The clock fits a circle punch...

LOVE LOVE LOVE the giant background and the saying!

and...finally...the bird!

The background is cool as is...

or stamp it, turn it 90 degrees and stamp it again to make a totally different looking...
PLAID!

Ok...there you have it...

I'm thrilled to be able to show you my babies...finally!

I'm especially thrilled because we got up @ 4am...
with LOTS to do...

however...

we had no power, due to an ice storm...
got the generator going...

then the power came back up about 7...
& went off again...

and FRIED the computer monitor...

we tried everything with NO SUCCESS...

I was panic stricken...and about in tears...
how could I leave town & not show you after all the teasing...

So Rick buzzed to Staples...got us a monitor & we're back in business after a few MORE grey hairs...

Several people asked...

love the samples! Do you have scheduled times for your demos at the Ranger booth? I am going to CHA for the first time and am so excited!!

I'll be demoing in the Ranger booth ...
Sunday 10-3
Monday 9-11 and 12-3
Tuesday 9-12 and 3-5:30
Wednesday 12-3

If you were lucky & got into Tim's Saturday classes...
I'll be there helping him.

Please introduce yourself if you are a blog friend!

I'll post the contest details tomorrow...
before we take off.

From the bottom of my heart...
thanks so much for the kind words and for being such good sports with all the teasing.
I hope it wasn't torture.

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!

While I'm gone...
YOU...

wendy

not many words...

but I do have some photos to share...

Another Adirondack dye ink sample...

and I wanted you to see how tim's new die cut flower fits perfectly with my large flower!

This gives us even MORE versatility...

I got these questions several times yesterday...
so I'll take a few minutes for just a quickie response...

I watched the pigment & pearls video and now I'm itching to try. Here you have samples with Adirondack Dyes. Here I go again: what's the difference between dyes and pigment inks??

Dye inks dry much faster...

pigments stay wet longer...
and normally they need to be heat set.

HOWEVER...Ranger's inks are unique because they are quick drying opaque pigment inks.

So... if they are used on a porous surface (cardstock, chipboard, paper, grunge) they will air dry in about 15 minutes. You can also heat set them too, instead of waiting for them to air dry.

You can also use them on non-porous surfaces & heat set them.

The dye inks are transparent...

Ranger's pigments are opaque...
so the dyes & the pigments each give a different look...
You can stamp with either.

Does one dry faster than the other?
Are they embossable?

YES...the pigments work well with embossing powders, because they stay wet to grab the embossing powders.

Can you use the perfect pearls+water mixture on dye inks too?

YES you can...mix the reinkers with Perfect Pearls...

You can also use the blending tools/foam pads to apply the dye inks...

One more question...

did you hint that Tim has a new machine coming?

YES...but he's not showing that until CHA.

Let me just say...you won't believe your eyes...
It's just what you expect from Tim...
TOTALLY innovative & over the top...
AWESOME!

It's just...pure artistic genius!
It made me weak in the knees when I saw the photo...
and I'm NOT kidding!

I can NOT WAIT to get mine!

And to clarify about his new dies...
I used them in my Big Shot & Big Shot Express...
with PERFECT results!!

but I don't have a Cuttlebug...

NOW...
a huge...

YIPPEE...

I got the final new book cover yesterday...

The bad thing is that it's a PDF format & I have no clue how to change it to a JPEG to post it here...

So, I printed it out & scanned it...

thus it's NOT a good picture...
the real deal will be cool...

but ...

since you're friends...
I wanted to show you anyway...

TA-DA...

Here's what the clarity of the REAL photos will look like...

Matt did awesome CLEAR very detailed photos...

Several have asked if book 1 & book 2 can be put into the same mailer to save on shipping $$$...

YES we (that would be Rick) can do that.

There are a few copies of book one left...
& they won't be reprinted.

On the To-Do list today...

I think this will be a fun play day.

I got 2 brand spankin' new acrylic storage binders to embellish for the 12...

new stamp releases...
yippee...

Time to make art!
wendy
more tomorrow...

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

and so the story goes...

#1...can we see this fatso book?

You bet...like I said...
it's LOADED with goodies!

#2...I saw on Donna Downeys blog that she did some sort of art challenge for Ranger. What is it? Did you participate?

Here's the deal...
Everyone gets the same box of "product" from Ranger to make a piece of art.

They give us the size it can not "exceed"...
they said "these 2 things" must be incorporated into the art...
and we take it from there.

Yes I did get to play...
you'll be surprised to see the results...

guess what? I was TOO!

I had no clue where it was headed & I stared @ the box of goods for about a MONTH...before I started...

I'll do my best to take photos to show them all.

#3...ok please say that the scallop is a new stamp!

It IS!!!!!!!! YIPPEE!

#4...awesome backgrounds from the pigment inks. Will you share the details?

YOU BET...but not 'til after CHA...no time right now.

#5...is the heart a stamp? I LOVE it. Get it?

VERY FUNNY!
Another...YOU BET! It's stamped on grunge...

#6...love the yellow flower. it doesn't look like grunge.
It's not. I used tim's new Sizzix die on a manila tag to make it...

#7....are there instructions on using the pigments in your new book?

No, but there is a project in book #1.

Book #2 focuses on more detailed projects...

more collage...

However, there is a Ranger You-tube video that I did that explains one of the techniques.

look here. Try it...you'll like it!

I have some fun new ways to use the pigments coming too...

#8...when are you leaving us? the highlight of the dayis your blog. i'll miss you.

GEEZ...THANK YOU so much!! I leave Friday morning..back late on Thursday the 28th.

And breaking news...

I SAW THE COVER for book #2 YESTERDAY...

I asked for a few tweeks...

HOPEFULLY, I can show you tomorrow.

That book got fat too...

we went from 40 pages in book #1 to I think 56 in this one.

I'm thrilled with the photography & layout...

Matt did a GREAT job!

On to the Maya Road reveals...

This is a canvas banner that I made...
it says BLOOM...

I used tim's new Sizzix die to cut the wool felt flowers...
VERY FUN!!!!!

A close look...
the flowers are a denim-ish blue...not black...

another ...

Ok...more quickie CHA demo tags...
These guys are all done with Ranger's Adirondack dye inks...

I almost trashed this one 'til I stamped the background...now I LOVE it...

This background is soooooooo pretty...kind of watercolor-ish...
You can't really see the Perfect Pearls...

Maybe the Perfect pearls show better here...

I'll show more tomorrow...
the camera battery needs a jolt...

I have one showing one of my large flower stamps with a tim Sizzix die cut flower as a layer...
I LOVE it when things work together...

Now this is hard to believe...
but...

I'm headed out for a haircut/bleach job...which is no big deal...
except that Rick told me this morning that I have not left the house since we celebrated Christmas @ my brother's...

not once...

seriously...

let's see...that would be the 25th of December?????????
Holy cow!

And if it were not for CHA & the haircut...
I'd be more than happy to stay here 'til spring!

So...I'm off to blow off the stink...
and get a new do...

not...

make art!
wendy
ps...I LOVE when you talk to me!
THANKS SO MUCH!!!

EDIT @ 12:55pm...to answer emails...
YES...tim's embossing folders & dies will work in the Big Shot.
NO PROBLEM!!!
but word on the street is...hmmm..better wait on that thought!

Monday, January 18, 2010

it was a wild & INKY...

weekend in studio 490.

Since one of my demo assignments for Ranger is pigment inks...

I wanted to have all new samples to show @ my demo table...

I wanted them to have a fresh new-ish look...

Let me tell you...this was a TOTAL inky blast...

There are LOTS of different ways to use the pigment inks...

They provide complete opaque coverage, if you apply them directly to a surface...

or you can do this...

my favorite...

this looked spring-ish...
makes me happy!

The Maya Road company blog has OVER THE TOP samples today...
you best be sitting down!
Katie's dressform banner...will make you drool...
the giant birdcage...OMG AMAZING...
and Lisa has a mini hanging...
that I just may swipe...
it's brown & VERY classy vintage looking...
I know just where I'd hang it!

Caroline is also showing their stamps today...

She sent me these...
and you know me...

I saw FLOWERS!

My sample...

You might spot a FATSO album there too...

what is wrong with me?
I talked to me before I started & reminded myself...
it's small...
keep it fairly flat...don't overdo it...

Didn't work...

The little cutie is about 2 1/2 x 6 inches or so...
small & VERY CUTE...

when I got done with it...
the little cutie weighed in @ about 80 pounds...

Oh well...that's what happens when you...

make art!
wendy
ps..more tomorrow!
TALK TO ME!

Saturday, January 16, 2010

You better grab a beverage...

we got lots to cover today!

Starting with some answers to some questions...

#1...I stopped over at the Maya Road site to day - let's hear it for the HUGE bottle caps!!! Will you be making a project using them????

Hmmm...no flowers (see yesterday's post!) ...no gigantic caps either! I'll see if I can snag one or 2 @ CHA and a photo of a sample...

#2...OMGoodness!!! Love the 1st booth sample!! What is the 2nd layer?

This was a question about the classic label coaster in the earlier post...

The second layer is a Maya Road scallop frame that I altered with a rusting solution...and then covered with Rock Candy Distress Stickles...I LOVE the look...

I have a project in the new book, using "that product" on different chipboard...

#3...where will we be able to get this stuff ASAP? I have things to make girls! need it NOW...or yesterday even lol.

Ok...here's what I know so far...

Tim's new distress ink colors will ship right after CHA...

My book...shipping in February.

Tim's new book...ready to ship!

My stamps & Tim's are done & will ship after CHA...

95% of Maya Road is ready to ship right after CHA... just a few things will ship later.

Tim's Sizzix dies...YIKES...I'll have to ask him & get back to you.

#4...Wendy...did you ever get your birthday cabinet home? Did I miss the photo(s)?

NOPE...it's still @ the MIL'S...It won't fit in the studio, so we'll redo the office...paint etc...then bring it home.

It's #1 on the priority list as soon as I get back from CHA. I WILL show you...I promise!

#5...Tell us about uses for the Maya Resist stuff...

SORRY...didn't get any of that either! But it's on my order. I think it will be fun. I have an idea...not sure if it will work...but I want to try! I'll keep you posted.

#6...I ran over here ... just been to Tim's place ... fell and grazed me knees and everything .... is it you???? Is it???? The ticket stamp??? Is it??? huh???? Is it???

NOPE!!! Not me!! Must be "you know who".

#7... Love the minis and I'm so in love with your blouse stamp and I also love the mannequin mini. And is that a tape measure/ruler stamp I spy with my little eye? Oh yummy!

That is a stamp from Maya Road & lucky you...
it's available now! No waiting on this one! I use it lots!

#8...I have birds all over my house...I'm BEGGING...please show the whole @%*& bird...I want that bird now!

OK OK...hold your horses! YIKES! I'm scared!

Here he is...stamped on grungepaper & inked with the NEW tumbled glass...

#8...Will you be showing a sample using the new Maya Road soccer ball book?

Nope...that wasn't one of my assignments...
I'm betting that one of the other design team members did...I'll TRY to get a photo for you @ CHA...

#9...as you say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the visionary. is the text stamped over her?

Nope...that's built right into the stamp...
Here's what she looks like...
she just started getting ready to be added to a project...

the only thing that I added is the NEW alphabet stamp...

#10...you said larger rose...how much larger?

How about 2 largers???
That gives us more options...
to make not only roses...
but flowers like this...

#11... Ideology art... we want to see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please promise you'll show us what you created today!--

SORRY...no can do! Tim hasn't shown any of "this" yet...so I can't.

But I will say...prepare to be amazed!
Have I steered you wrong yet?
Trust me! COOLLLLLLLLL STUFF is coming soon!

#12...will tim show us his design team samples on his blog? has he ever? i'm always needing ideas to get started

Hmmm...I do remember that he did a video from his Advantus booth and that showed lots of projects.

As far as individual pieces...

Guess we wait & see...but I will show you after CHA, for sure.

#13...any more sayings for that bottle stamp?

I only made the one specific label stamp(for now)...but you can make then by combining words...

using the labelmaker etc...

using just one word from a stamp...

there are LOTS of possibilities...

#14...I'm on the fence about the fillable pens but I love what you did with the bottle. I wondered if that was vellum or a transparency.

It's stamped on a Hambly transparency, which is much thicker than the regular office type.

The fillable pen is AWESOME...I especially love it for changing the color of bling. Because it is like a pen, you have perfect control & can ink just a single pearl...or gem to make perfectly coordinating embellishments.

SIMPLE!

#15...what is the curly stuff coming out of the visionary hat? Looks like it sticks...what did you do to it to let it be free flowing?

It's bling from Prima...I LOVE IT!

I chopped off a piece to fit...and made it less sticky by tapping it on my jeans. It's on a clear carrier? that keeps the scroll shape. It's COOL stuff!

#16...Question: On the artful voyage cruise, I think you gave us a tip on how to refill our small squeeze bottles of Claudine Hellmuth's multi-medium. If you did, I've slept way too many times since then and would love to know what the trick is again. I got the lid off the bottle, but made an absolute mess trying to get additional multi-medium into the squeeze bottle! Is there an easy way? thanks.

There sure is...just pull the tip off....the whole plug...you have to pull pretty hard...

fill it & put the plug back in place.

REMINDER...save your empty stickles bottles....wash them out & you can fill them with glossy accents or multimedium.

I like the distress stickles bottle better for the multi medium, because the tip has a larger opening.

#17...ooooooo, that bottle stamp is simply fantastic! i can NOT wait for my LSS to start getting your wonderful line. where will i be able to purchase your new products online?

These places have GREAT customer service...
and they will be @ CHA...
so they'll be among the first to have the new things...

eclecticPaperie

Simon Says Stamp

#18...can I get all the new inks from you or can I buy them from Ranger to get them quickly?

NO...sorry...I don't sell products...(only my books)
and Ranger sells to stores only, not individuals...
BUT...I do see some AWESOME package deals

HERE... and HERE...

#19...I know you are busy, but can you explain sometime how you do CHA work...
I guess my question is do you do what projects you want? Do you have to follow a specific theme? How do you decide what to demo?

It's a little different for each company...

For Ranger...they will send a list and say that they need new samples for "these certain 25 products"...
then I can look thru the list & choose which products I want to work with. So, basically, I can choose my own assignments.

For the demo part of it, I'm assigned specific products that they would like me to highlight. So, this CHA I'll be showing lots of fun ways to use the Adirondack line of products...I really like to combine them with Perfect Pearls, in some new ways...so that is a fun assignment.

I'll be making some tag samples today to have on my demo table. Maybe I'll share them here...

Maya Road sends new products...like say the "minis" or a new coaster album and I can use them however I want on a project. They don't give a specific theme to follow.

For Tim's idea-ology...he sends cool stuff & says...make cool stuff in your style...simple!

My stamps...I just do what I want...

Ok...we better come to an end for today before your little eyes get tired...

But, before I go...I wanted to show you this...
using NEW and current stamps...
and tumbled glass & bundled sage...
My new favorite combo...

And this is fun...I really do use up scraps of grunge...

this photo is in the book...
and it looks like a portion of the house stamp???????

Come back on Monday...the Maya Road peeks will continue...
You'll like what you see...for sure!
and maybe more studio 490 reveals here on Monday too!
Enjoy your weekend...
I'm off to make (Adirondack) art (samples)!
