introducing...9 NEW studio 490 stamp sets...

happy Monday & again...
THANKS SO MUCH
 for your enthusiasm...
sounds like lots of you have been wanting individual background stamps...
we aim to please!

before we start, I got quite a few questions...

some I have answers for...
some not...
let start with

question #1...how much are the backgrounds?

answer...$10.95

question #2...how will we store them?

answer...I haven't seen the final packaging yet...
but just as soon as I do, I'll post the scoop here
but...
for sure
4 backgrounds will fit on the white storage sheets,
that my stamp sets come on...

they have NO images printed on them & you can store 2 backgrounds on the front & 2 on the back...

so all 8 new backgrounds fit on just 2 sheets,
that are the same size as my large stamp sets...

the plain sheets are also awesome for keeping track of clear stamps...
again they hold a ton,
because you can use both sides...

it's quick & easy to flip thru the pages...

question #3...will there be a binder for the smaller sets...

answer...yes!
we have had a small binder since I introduced the first small sets a few years ago...

question #4... what is the cost of the small sets?
answer...$17.95

question #5...when are the stencils, stamps & new art parts shipping?
answer...I don't have that info just yet...
but I do know they are working really hard in Cleveland...
just as soon as I get a shipping date from Ted,
I will let you know for sure...

question #6...please tell me we can purchase ALL your backgrounds individually now.

answer...I don't have a definite answer...
but...if you think about this, there's only so much room for stores to display product...
with this release of 8 new backgrounds, that brings the total background count to close to 50...
that would take a large display area...
but, as my mom used to say...
we'll see what develops...

question #7...will you be doing a project book again? if now now when? soon?

answer...hmmm...
no plans for that right now, but never say NEVER...

NOW...

TIME FOR NEW STAMPS!!!
ok...
instead of telling you how much I LOVE each one...

I'll get this out of the way now...
I LOVE ALL OF THESE SETS...
A LOT!

phew...
ok...

remember...
these are all the small sets today...

first up...
art comforts...
fun sayings & a cute bunch of "weeds"  with a flower...
good for all occasion cards...
and to create a scene...

this set is...

the purpose of art...
a wonderful large flower, that's easy to cut out for layering...
 and plenty of sayings...

check out...
sassy art...

I squeezed 7 sayings on this set...

check out the top left corner...

I have to say the second from the bottom has been so fun!

this next set is called...
forever art...

look...
yippee...
NEW FLOWERS...
and my most favorite...
geranium...
along with some lovely sentiments...

introducing...
metro art...

Edgar is one handsome dude
& everyone loves a conductor...
it must be the uniform...

I REALLY LOVE the large vintage train schedule...
it's dated 1901 & has someone's handwriting on it...
she wrote "underground of Paris",
so this is cool with the Eiffel Tower stamp
& art part & a whole lot more...
I've been using it as a background for my art parts flowers & leaves...
and as a filler for art journal pages...
the tiny text is perfect!

more vintage finds inspired this set...
it's called
 new york art...

I've been using the "red book" as a background for small art parts flowers...
stay tuned...

I LOVE the graphics on that one...
we can use the "school of art" as a big background or use just portions of it...

I will never have enough LOVE sentiments...

this set is called

lovely art...

I think this cute couple is
wait for it...

charming...

I'm on a roll & LOVING needing wanting more flowers...
this set is...

garden art...
so much fun to color with the distress markers...

I did a small art journal using all these new flowers...
I had so much fun...

I've been wanting "you've got mail" for a long time...
so I squeezed it in on this set...

never send a naked envelope...

tags are HOT...
so I thought we needed some fun tag stamps...

this set is the last new set & it's a goodie...

it's...
tag art essentials...

I totally love this set to bits...

for those who are concerned with messy tag backs...

you can stamp...

"please excuse the mess...
I'm very busy making art"

or...if the house isn't spotless...
this stamp will come in handy for conveying your thoughts...

I did a framed version...
lol...

so that's my 9 small sets for this release...

I can honestly say that sample making has been
 a flippin' BLAST...

***********
I have a GIVEAWAY...
it's a seat in Claudine's big picture class...

cute printable recipe cards...

more new studio 490...

today's post takes a bit of an intro before we get to the stamps...

we're changing things up

big time

listening to your requests...

you asked...

so...

my giant background stamps will be sold individually!

so many people who are not really stampers...
but love the gelli plates,
have asked for just background stamps,
to create patterns & texture for gelli plate art...

these backgrounds are red rubber & cling,
just like all my stamps...
and they are the usual giant size...

the cling style allows us to use them thru stencils easily...
perfect!

backgrounds are probably my most favorite stamps...

without further ado...

introducing...

top left...
is...
fancy florals...
and bottom right fancy flourishes...

click to make the images larger...

top left is called
from A to Z...

and the bottom right is ornate dots...

next up...
top left is
reverse dots

and bottom right is vintage mesh...

and the last 2...

top left is the
vintage pricing chart
and bottom right is called
vintage tapestry...

have I had fun with them?
OH YES!!!

do I have samples of each background to share...
boohoo...
not quite yet,
because there's too many "secrets" on the samples...
but soon!

so...how does this change affect my new stamp sets?

in addition to these 8 new backgrounds...

I designed 2 large stamp sets and
9 of the smaller sized sets...

you'll see on the storage sheet that
the large sets have LCS preceding the number and
the smaller sets have SCS preceding the number...

today I'll share the 2 large sets...

remember my new favorite word?

this set is titled...
charming art...

it's 3 lovely ladies with attitude & 7 fun sentiments...

click to enlarge the photo to read them...

and the second large set is called...

art chronicles...
it's designed for art journals...
cards and more...
I love the bar codes for the backs of our art...

this set is loaded with so many cool images...
there are so many on the sheet
that Zach had to squeeze the large splat
way up in the top left corner...

this set is
so
much
 fun...

****************************

since I'm not able to share new stamped samples today,
here's a photo of
the gold & silver embossing pastes thru the 2 new stencils...
you can see that the flourishes
work well with just the flower from the "lovely large flower" stencil...
I didn't use the stem...

the metallics are dramatic on a black tag...

and...

have you heard about the new distress markers?
hello...shaded lilac & mowed lawn...
I LOVE you with this flower stamp!

that's it for Friday...
have a wonderful weekend...

I'll be back on Monday with the 9 small stamp sets...

until then,
I'll be waiting to hear your thoughts on the individual backgrounds & the 2 new stamp sets...

I'm off to...
make art!
wendy

STOP THE PRESS!!

I'll have a jar of my new translucent paste

 for a random commenter...
yes...
bribery to comment!
lol...

new studio 490... for CHA S 13...

THANKS SO MUCH
for sharing your comments & enthusiasm...
I am so happy to finally share & not have to keep these secrets...

I sincerely appreciate the time you take to leave comments & send "special" emails...

OH and many THANKS
for the FACEBOOK comments too...

you make me HAPPY...

you guys are THE BEST!

and if you would

 that would be super nice...
thanks again!

today I have 5 new stencils to show...
and an extra at the bottom of the post...

stencil #1...
create a flower...

this cutie has interchangeable stems/leaves & flowers...

use them together...
or alone...

or pair them with an art part...
they are mixable/matchable with other stencils too...

they are so easy to use with multiple colors,
because they are separate...

the openings allow stamps to be used thru the stencils for endless combinations of stamps & flowers...
or embossing pastes...

these are perfectly sized for cards or an art journal page...

like this...

#2 is a basic I keep reaching for...

it's the honeycomb...

it a great background & an excellent "filler" anytime you need a little something extra in the background...

I'm thrilled with this guy...

below it's paired with the new wreathe stencil I showed yesterday...
the art parts word is a perfect fit...

stencil #3...

3 flourishes...

another that I love because it has 3 size choices...
it's perfect for so many projects...
ink or add embossing paste thru the stencil...
or just trace the outline & then doodle inside the lines...

I'll use this one a lot...

stencil #4...

artful words...

I have used these on art journal pages and mixed media pieces...

LOVE the irregular font...
with 15 words to choose from...

yippee...

for some reason...

CHARMING
is my new favorite word...
I just find it...

simply...

you got it...

charming!

and the final stencil...

#5...

I knew this would be a favorite,
but I had no clue that I would love it so much...

the 2 fancy flowers stencil
is over the moon FUN...

below, I used it with some distress inks...
and some masking...

it's a completely flat art journal page...
but the layering/masking really makes it look dimensional...

can you see how much fun we'll have with this one?

keep it simple & use just one beautiful flower to make a statement...
or add some leaves...
or a stem from the 3 fresh flowers stencil...
or some leaves with the lovely leaves stencil...
or have a blast & fill a whole page...
like I did...

and speaking of fun...

I LOVE distress & archival inks with stencils...

but to create added texture,
my new embossing paste totally ROCKS...

it's translucent paste...
be still my heart...
I AM in LOVE!

if you have the black & white embossing pastes
you know that they are a matte finish & they are kind of spongy when dry...

the gold & silver pastes are much firmer...

this translucent paste dries with a very hard solid surface...

and it does have some shine...
you can "gently" heat it with the heat tool to speed up the drying time, if you are like me...

with ZERO patience...

you can tint it with lots of Ranger products...

you can easily stamp over it with archivals...

Ted has this is IN STOCK and ready to ship!

look how cute...

I used it with the stencil after I had added my color & stamped thru the stencil...

I used the translucent paste only over the flower to really make it stand out...

this new paste LOVES tim's distress products A LOT...

I have 3 of my very first experiments in the photo below...

the sample on the left is the translucent paste, applied thru the "yikes stripes" stencil
then I sprayed the distress stains while the paste was wet...
(I put the stains into misters)
I blasted it with the heat tool to cook the colors into the paste & create this cool textured/mottled background...

the middle example is the translucent paste
thru the "yikes stripes" stencil (on a black tag),
dried,  then lightly & randomly painted with distress paints...

the sample on the right is the translucent paste
dried & then completely painted over with distress paints...

you might not want to try this...

what I *thought* would be a 20 minute EXPERIMENT, turned into a whole AFTERNOON of play...
and new technique discoveries...

I was so busy experimenting that I couldn't possibly cook dinner...
oh darn...
you have been warned! lol...

it is totally addicting & so many products you already have will work with this new paste...

it's completely flexible, when dry & it does not flake off or crack...

it's pure MAGIC!

here's my samples...

that's it for "CHA summer 13"...
 volume 2...

thanks for visiting...
tomorrow...
volume 3!

ok...
you've seen all 10 of my new stencils...

I'm wondering...

which is your MOST favorite?
ready...

set...

go!

talk to me while I...

make (more CHA) art!
wendy
ps...hmmm...
what to show tomorrow?
maybe stamps?
