yikes...stripes!

it's funny how things work...

I totally LOVE polka dots...
always have...
always will...

but my newest love addiction is stripes...

my yikes stripes stencil has really gotten a workout in the last few days...
you'll see stripes on lots of my CHA samples...
(coming soon to a blog near you)

the sneak peek below is a portion of a new art journal page...

it's the bomb for mixed media art...
because it takes a ton of abuse...

the page is in a cute small journal,
made from my art parts small pages...

you can create 3 journals with the 6 pages...
or make a fat 6 page book...

this is a nice size for testing ideas & techniques & for when you don't have a lot of time to spare...
the smaller size makes you feel like you've completed a project...

you'll see "some new for CHA" products below...
I am IN LOVE...

now here's the funny thing...

over at Simon Says, the challenge for this week is...

STRIPES!

if you're looking for inspiration...

then visit each of the artists' blogs...

you WILL be inspired & you WILL see lots of cool stripes used in their art...

to EVERYONE on
 the SSS & SHOW DT...

I'm cheering for you!
BRAVO!
WELL DONE!

coming up...
more stripes!

I wanted to thank STAMPINGTON
for the 2 page feature in their summer Gallery issue...

the article is all about Ranger's CHA Winter designer challenge, using Dy's spray inks...

we were each assigned one color & the rules were to use only that color with black & white...

I got the yummy london blue...

but seriously?
NO DISTRESS?
NO brown?

yikes...
for me, this truly was a challenge...

but, I guess that's the purpose...
to make you THINK...

it's a large piece...
the base is an 11 x 14 flat canvas...
I normally work much smaller...
like a quarter of that size...

I had the guys at the factory laser cut some giant art parts, proportioned to fit the large canvas...

GIANT CANVAS?

another YIKES...

and again...
NO BROWN?

after a few sleepless nights...

here's my project...

with...
STRIPES!

if all this stripes talk has you wanting needing
some stripes...

Kim (eclecticPaperie) has a special code for you...

she's offering
20% off ALL my products...

she has recently restocked all the Blossom Bucket cuties
and I see that she has the "yikes stripes" stencil
the polka dot/stripes border stencil back in stock too...

and she has lots of art parts to choose from...

and of course stamps...

the code to enter at checkout is

WENDY20

are included in the sale & they are cool,
when used with the stripes stencils...
especially the black paste...

ok...back to the studio for me...

CHA is fast approaching so I NEED to...

make art!

texts, tweets and a twit!

whoever would have thought??

ME...the techno challenged old lady is now texting & tweeting....

Some things never cease to amaze me...

Here's my dear brothers comment...
"welcome to this century!" LOVELY...

The tweeting also prompted a name change for me...

Rick has called me "blondie" for years...

it has to do with winning a blackjack tournament in Aruba...

but now he calls me a TWIT!

How sweet...or NOT!

I have my friend, Leandra to thank for that!

NEWS FLASH!!!

Next...

This make me oh so happy...

The UPS notification...

for the RANGER GIVEAWAY...

Scheduled Delivery Date:
02/18/2010
Shipped To:
OGLESBY, IL, US

Another YIPPEE!...
HEY...that's TODAY...
***
GIVEAWAY...get it? when? we'll see...
***
Now the answer to an email that made me laugh...
everyday I go to your blog, see that house header and wonder how in the %**# you got those houses to stand on the ruler. today I'm asking...do tell, please
***
Here's what I did...
I added an extra scrap of chipboard to the back of each Maya Road house to attach it firmly to the ruler.
*
Then...to make the ruler stand, I added a wooden block.
The front looks good...
the back ...not so much... but it works!
*
I've used this idea several times.
It's SIMPLE, but effective.

This has me over the top EXCITED...
It should be out the end of MARCH...
I'm totally thrilled with the photography & layout!
THANK YOU STAMPINGTON!
*
Now...
it's back to arranging flights & other inky business for me.
Have a great day and...
PLEASE...
make art!

new art...new Q & A's...

I present to you...
the first sighting of my new stamps...

What a thrill for me to see this cool art...

It was made by Kathy Tucker...
She lives in Ohio & I met her on the Mexico cruise last October.

I LOVE everything about this piece!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how she added the tiny leaves from the border & cut them out...

The perfect detail...

GREAT JOB, Kathy!!! You made my day!!!

Check it out...

Pretty cool...huh?? LOVE the colors too...

Ok...on to the questions...
1. When you get back from CHA can you show the difference in the green inks...I know you say we'll need them all, but if you show them, I'll know which is the first I must have...
OK...here's the swatch I made...
They really are all different and you will want them ALL...trust me!

#2...Can we preorder your book to get on the list?
I have a file started for book orders...
but I'm not sending the PayPal requests until I actually have the books here & ready to ship...
I'll post here when they arrive...

#3...Hey U R holding out on us...I see in this issue of Stampers Sampler that U R the neaxt featured artist.

YIPPEE! What an honor.

Amanda Crabtree asked @ CHA last summer...
so it's been in the works for a bit.

I'll be excited to see it, since I don't even remember what art I sent to Stampington...(but I made all new pieces)

4. I have seen that fish stamp at my favorite stamp store. For Keep Sakes, in St. Louis. I will have to see it they still have it. By the way when are you coming back?

It's in the works...stay tuned!

5. LOVE the spool!! How big is it? Congrats to Linda!!! The can is fabulous!! When you do samples for CHA, do you get them back?

The spool is about 4 3/4 inches tall and the overall height of the finished piece is about 13 inches.

If you make something similiar, make sure it has a large base so it won't topple over.
Another trust me for tall flowers with kind of heavy centers...

About the CHA samples...

sometimes yes...sometimes no.

It just depends who I make them for. But, mostly yes...

6. will you & tim be @ the Carson convention. if so, can we do make & takes again. that was fun.

Tim is @ Ranger U that weekend, but I'll be there to demo.

No make & takes this time, since we're not both there.
Sorry.

If you live in Ca...turn the heat up and turn the sun on...
I HATE cold weather...
see you soon!

7. I see some of your stamps come on a wood block. Are they a different size than the clings on the sheets?

No...the wood mounteds are the same size as the images in the sets.

We do some mounted on wood, because some people prefer wood.

8. any chance you will sell the background stamps on wood?

No & here's why. Since they are so large, the price would be about $17.00-$18.00.

Considering that the complete sets are $24.95, they are a much better value.

So you get LOTS more stamps for a few $$ more.

9. Thank you again. The stamp set arrived today. I am hoping far a snow day tomorrow so I can play with it.

Good luck on the snow...

I hope you live no where near me! ha!

Have fun...make art!

10. i'm confused. i see the 2 new binders, but they have vol4. where are 1-3?

Here are the 4th volumes again...

I've made storage binders for each set release to keep them separate for me...

I made 2 this time, because I didn't realize that all 12 new sets would fit in one binder...
but they do! COOL.

I'll look for photos of the other 3 and post them next week.

# 11... any plans to teach in Arizona?

NOPE...nothing planned there...

#12... will you ever come east for classes?

You bet...some locations are in the works...
Stay tuned!

#13...anything in NDakota ever????

Nope...but I think Iowa is close??
Stay tuned. ***UPDATE*** Just added...Memory Bound in Ankeny Iowa!

Shopping alert...

looks like my 12 new sets have arrived here!

tim's new stamp sets are in here and here...

Time to shop & then...

I'll
make art!

More tag art...

I spent yesterday preparing for my Saturday classes. As I was planning, I was thinking about how I could thank the gals who took the Ranger tag technique class. So...I decided to make a cover tag for each person, to add to their sample tags. Now each person will leave with their tags, printed instructions and a little "thank you" from me. Ah...Life is good.........
Here's a little helpful shopping info...
The flower stamp is from Stampington...
The alphabet is from Maya Road...
and the little Tag Art stamp is from Limited Edition.
ALL inks are from...of course...Ranger. Bet you knew that!
Time to scrub yesterdays ink from my fingers and get some fresh ink on again. Inky fingers make me happy!
Remember...do something creative EVERY day!
Wendy
ps...if you've made some similiar tags, post a link in the comment section & show us. SHARING is good! Some lucky soul might even get a little gift from me!
