new art...new Q & A's...

I present to you...
the first sighting of my new stamps...

What a thrill for me to see this cool art...

It was made by Kathy Tucker...
She lives in Ohio & I met her on the Mexico cruise last October.

I LOVE everything about this piece!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how she added the tiny leaves from the border & cut them out...

The perfect detail...

GREAT JOB, Kathy!!! You made my day!!!

Check it out...

Pretty cool...huh?? LOVE the colors too...

Ok...on to the questions...
1. When you get back from CHA can you show the difference in the green inks...I know you say we'll need them all, but if you show them, I'll know which is the first I must have...
OK...here's the swatch I made...
They really are all different and you will want them ALL...trust me!

#2...Can we preorder your book to get on the list?
I have a file started for book orders...
but I'm not sending the PayPal requests until I actually have the books here & ready to ship...
I'll post here when they arrive...

#3...Hey U R holding out on us...I see in this issue of Stampers Sampler that U R the neaxt featured artist.

YIPPEE! What an honor.

Amanda Crabtree asked @ CHA last summer...
so it's been in the works for a bit.

I'll be excited to see it, since I don't even remember what art I sent to Stampington...(but I made all new pieces)

4. I have seen that fish stamp at my favorite stamp store. For Keep Sakes, in St. Louis. I will have to see it they still have it. By the way when are you coming back?

It's in the works...stay tuned!

5. LOVE the spool!! How big is it? Congrats to Linda!!! The can is fabulous!! When you do samples for CHA, do you get them back?

The spool is about 4 3/4 inches tall and the overall height of the finished piece is about 13 inches.

If you make something similiar, make sure it has a large base so it won't topple over.
Another trust me for tall flowers with kind of heavy centers...

About the CHA samples...

sometimes yes...sometimes no.

It just depends who I make them for. But, mostly yes...

6. will you & tim be @ the Carson convention. if so, can we do make & takes again. that was fun.

Tim is @ Ranger U that weekend, but I'll be there to demo.

No make & takes this time, since we're not both there.
Sorry.

If you live in Ca...turn the heat up and turn the sun on...
I HATE cold weather...
see you soon!

7. I see some of your stamps come on a wood block. Are they a different size than the clings on the sheets?

No...the wood mounteds are the same size as the images in the sets.

We do some mounted on wood, because some people prefer wood.

8. any chance you will sell the background stamps on wood?

No & here's why. Since they are so large, the price would be about $17.00-$18.00.

Considering that the complete sets are $24.95, they are a much better value.

So you get LOTS more stamps for a few $$ more.

9. Thank you again. The stamp set arrived today. I am hoping far a snow day tomorrow so I can play with it.

Good luck on the snow...

I hope you live no where near me! ha!

Have fun...make art!

10. i'm confused. i see the 2 new binders, but they have vol4. where are 1-3?

Here are the 4th volumes again...

I've made storage binders for each set release to keep them separate for me...

I made 2 this time, because I didn't realize that all 12 new sets would fit in one binder...
but they do! COOL.

I'll look for photos of the other 3 and post them next week.

# 11... any plans to teach in Arizona?

NOPE...nothing planned there...

#12... will you ever come east for classes?

You bet...some locations are in the works...
Stay tuned!

#13...anything in NDakota ever????

Nope...but I think Iowa is close??
Stay tuned. ***UPDATE*** Just added...Memory Bound in Ankeny Iowa!

Shopping alert...

looks like my 12 new sets have arrived here!

tim's new stamp sets are in here and here...

Time to shop & then...

I'll
make art!

CHA photos, a HERO ARTS thanks and book update

I wanted to share a few more photos of some CHA projects...

This tag uses a brand new technique for the background.
It's hard to believe, but it's Ranger's pigment inks and Perfect Pearls...

It's kind of hard to photograph, but it's really pretty in person. I'll do a "how to" as soon as I have a little time to spare.

The rose is made with the 6 petal flower on my dimensional rose set of stamps.
It's stamped 3 times...and turned into this fun flower.

Another "rose how to" is in the works. SOON!

Here's a better look @ the rose & leaves...

The mini butterfly is from this set and they are covered with Ranger's new rock candy distress stickles.

Hello Ranger? I'll be buying a gallon of these stickles.
They are AWESOME!
*EDITED*to answer emails......they're shipping in AUGUST!

NEXT...
Here's a total grunge hanging...made from just one page of tim's grungeboard book and embellished with lots of his idea-ology trinkets.

I'll be ordering 100 packages of the new film strip ribbon.
OMG! I LOVE IT!!!

It's shipping @ the end of August & I'll let you know when it's in stock @ eclecticPaperie.

It was simple to attach with the tiny attacher.

I LOVE my flower, stamped on grungepaper and used as a pumpkin...and you already know I LOVE the snaps.

The game spinners make perfect butterfly bodies...or flower stems....or even spinners!

The border stamp is here.

NEXT...
Hero Arts was our neighbor booth @ CHA and I was gifted with some very cool stamps from them.

THANK YOU HERO ARTS!!!

Here's a card I made...especially for you...
It's stamped on kraft colored cardstock...
and then...

I stamped the large flower 3 times on grungepaper and covered it with the new rock candy stickles...
I stamped the smaller flower twice.

NEXT...
make art, studio 490 style book update...

It's being printed THIS WEEK!! YIPPEE!!

I will have a limited number of copies for sale on the blog...
HOPEFULLY by next week...

Stores told me they are expecting them in 2 weeks...
I'll keep you posted...

and will there be a contest with a giveaway when it arrives??

YOU BET!!!

THANKS for asking!

That's the Monday news from here...
Time for me to...

a few hints...a peek and some NEWS!

The begging has begun! Our cruise gals are BEGGING for some hints...

I'm happy to oblige...and put an end to your misery....

From me you can expect...

tim's distress inks ...
and
grunge...
and...for sure...
Maya Road chipboard!

There you go...ha!

Now for the CRUISE projects...
that's a story for another day...and today is NOT that day! SORRY!

BUT...here's a little new studio 490 stamp peek...to tide you over.

To give you a "perspective"...the staples are from tim's tiny attacher, which are 1/4th inch long...
thus the name...TINY!
He's a Genius!

Or as my UK friends say...BRILLIANT!
That makes me laugh!

Looks to me like the screen stamp is on some grungepaper???
and.........a leaf or 2 & a stem?
Ok...that's enough for today...before I get carried away!

Now it's...
*********************

DRUMROLL time...
*********************

I am so very excited to tell you that I'm doing something that I've had LOTS of requests for...
I've had this on my mind for over a year.

I tried REALLY hard to get this done for CHA-W, but no go...

It came about because I get lots of emails from gals saying that they'll never make it to a class...they live too far away...
and want MORE info...

So...I made this an ART PRIORITY!

Coming soon...VERY soon...(like in a few weeks)...

I did an idea book! JUST FOR YOU!!

It's called...
make art...studio 490 style!

It has 17 projects...nice color photos...

complete supply lists and...

complete step by step instructions on how to recreate each project in the book.

It's like 17 workshops!

I also wrote several pages of helpful hints and tips.
Things to make your "arting" easier.

I also tell you about my favorite products and why they are my absolute favorites...and there are plenty of tips on how to use them.

I LOVE to teach in person...and I wasn't sure how this book thing would go...
but I actually had fun, once I got the ball rolling.

I liked the fact that since it's being printed by Stampers Anonymous...

I had no editor...

you get me...the real me...just as I talk...
I got to do exactly what I wanted...
If you remember a few posts ago...
I always want to be "in charge"...so...

I got to write things like this...

"Buy the reinker when you buy the pads…TRUST ME!
You’ll be happy that you did.
Dry pads show up @ midnight when the stores are all closed & you NEED it NOW!
Like I said…TRUST ME!"

I'm expecting it to be ready for sale @ the Carson, California convention in July...
then stores can place their orders @ CHA thru Stampers Anonymous.

There will be a special GIVEAWAY when the release gets closer...
we'll be giving away a book or 2 for sure and some
"art supplies" too....
this will be something SPECIAL!
I PROMISE!

Maybe we'll have another contest of some sort...
hmmm...still thinking...

Well...that's my news & I hope you are as excited as I am...

Please tell me what you think...

then go...
make art!
wendy
PS...OMG! I made a HUGE mistake...the Maya Road warehouse sale is NOW thru July 10th...YIKES! I thought it started July 10th...
SORRY! So much for new glasses...

old as the hills...

no...not me, silly blog friends...

OK...I AM old...I KNOW that...

but that's not what this post is all about...

I was looking in a drawer the other day & came across this...

It's a 2005 issue of Altered Arts...

Hmmmmmm...
I wondered why I would save a magazine that's SOOOOOO old...

I don't like trash sitting around...
(unless it's cool vintage stuff!)...

so I usually toss magazines after I've looked at them...

This might be why I saved it...

I flipped thru to see what else was in that issue & found this...

HA! Totally forgotten...

This is when I first started this art adventure...
It's one of about 6 things I've ever submitted...

As you'll see...still lovin' the same color pallette...

The deal opens on the left & inside is a tiny file folder...

I remember thinking...pure genius...ha!

And on the left here...a little card pulls out...

Looks like I have a THING for putting stuff over eyes...
here...

...and here ...
like on my art chick...

I wonder what a shrink would have to say about that!

So the moral of the story??

FATE!

In GOOD company then...

In GOOD company NOW!

We chatted last night & all I can say is...

get ready for some REAL FUN!!!!!

Yep...all caps...

we're TOTALLY EXCITED!

I don't want summer to end...
but we're counting the days 'til the FUN begins!

What else before I go???

quick custom embellishment...

This is hanging off a...?????

YIKES...I better not show it...

But...I can show this...

I needed something small and square to add to a CHA project...
I like custom stuff...
*
Hmmm...what could I do?
*
Enter...Ranger's Memory frames...with the new "cute as snot" memory capsules.
*
I cut the pin part off Maya Road's trinket pin & used just the cool leaf. It was a perfect fit for the 1 inch square memory capsule.

YIPPEE!
Just exactly what I needed...small, square & perfect coordinating color.
I LOVE it when things fit as planned.........
*
Here's the simple how to...
*Cut a 1 x 1 square of cardstock & stamp a background...
I think studio 490 would look the best...
but that's just my opinion! ha!
*
*Cut the sharp metal from the pin
*
*Glue the leaf to the center of the cardstock square
*
*Make sure nothing is larger than the glass
*
*From the bottom...layer a piece of memory glass, your art & the memory capsule on top
*
*Lift the tiny tab on the side of the memory frame & open the frame just enough to allow you to insert the art sandwich
*
*Insert the tab back into the slot & close
*
I cut off the rings that came attached to the frame & used 2 jump rings to attach the memory collage to my...??? ART!
To embellish the bottom ring, I used a washer, a long fastener and a spinner.
*
It couldn't be easier...
***
Some of you have been asking about sneak peeks of new studio 490 stamps...I'm HAPPY that you're excited too!
***
I'm just saying...
if you've been paying attention...
***
And that special announcement is coming later this week...
Something that you've asked for...
it's "in the works" as we speak...
my part is done...I THINK!
I'm EXCITED...very excited to tell you the juicy details!
***
I'm just saying...later this week...
stay tuned and
make art!
wendy
ps...THANKS from the bottom of my heart for the SWEET comments & emails about my last post. I sincerely appreciate it!

and the winner is........

THANKS SOOOOOOOO much to everyone for the sweet comments and for playing along with us.

We thought this was fun...and...

we just might do it again! (hint!!)

I was worried about choosing a winner...
I didn't want anyone with the correct number to be disappointed...

but ALAS...

only one person guessed the correct number.
SHOCKING for sure!

From what I can figure...

This set is what changed the odds...

Make Mine Mini Art has 14 mini stamps ... and one nice long border stamp!
The sheet is FULL of minis!
It's the stamp bargain of the century! ha!

So...without further ado...

DRUMROLL...............

This contest is to celebrate the association between eclectic Paperie & studio 490...YIPPEE!!

We're sooooooo excited to share these fun goodies with all of you!

Below is the prize package donated by Daisy & Joy...eP owners...

WOW!

A LUCKY someone will win...
one of my MOST favorite stamp sets...dreams of art!

and...grungePAPER!!

and...a blending tool

Like the infomercial says...

But wait!!! There's more!

The package also includes the following:

Maya Road - Fresh Clipboard (chipboard collection)

Ranger - Stickles Baby Blue

Ranger - Distress Ink Aged Mahogany

"so you think you can stamp"
I think it's soooooooooooo cute!!

Now are you wondering what I'm donating for the winner??

HA! I'm not telling!
It will be a surprise...you'll have to suffer!!

I LOVE suspense and being surprised!!
I hope the winner does too!

So...here are the rules and how you can enter to win...

I currently have 14 studio 490 stamp SETS...
a SET is a page FULL of stamps.

It looks like this...

This SET has 5 INDIVIDUAL stamps...
(it's currently SOLD OUT @ eP...but they did reorder!)

NOW...what you'll need to do is go to the eclectic Paperie site...
look @ the other 13 studio 490 SETS ...

COUNT the INDIVIDUAL stamps...and write down that number...

Here's the fun part...

studio 490 will release 7 new stamp SETS in July...
7 pages FULL of new stamps!!

You need to GUESS how many INDIVIDUAL stamps there are in the 7 new sets...

and add that to the total you found on the eclectic Paperie site.

THEN...
leave me a blog comment with the TOTAL number of individual stamps.

That means all stamps from the current 14 sets PLUS take a guess on how many NEW stamps I designed.

EASY?? FUN??
We hope so...

Don't try to suck up to Daisy & Joy!

We'll have the total number figured by TUESDAY morning...
and we'll choose a winner then.

If there is more that one correct entry...we'll have a random drawing...

studio 490 sightings and a few random things...

What a thrill it is for me to see studio 490 stamps used by others...

On my lunch break yesterday, I popped over to the Hero Arts blog & found these cards...done by Lin...

This one immediately caught my attention...
I loved the pastels & the layout too...
It's simple & so VERY effective...

and of course...
I LOVED her choice of studio 490 stamps!
This card could be used for any occassion, just by changing the sentiment...

Then I spotted my leaves...on another...
How COOL...

and another color scheme below...
Thanks Lin! GREAT cards!!

Next...more art from Lynne Forsythe...
We attended Ranger U together, the first time I went...
You've seen her art here before...

She used my stamps with Copic markers to make this awesome journal page...

Here's a better look...what WONDERFUL colors...

Thanks for sharing LYNNE!! I LOVE IT!

Like the infomercial says...

But wait... there's more...

This is from my friend Daisy Sparks...she's the mom of cute Samantha...

and owner of eclectic Paperie...

These cards are just amazing...

She has a you-tube video showing how to make great...simple backgrounds with alcohol inks...

check it out....then go shopping @ eP!
I bet you'll need some alcohol inks and maybe a new stamp or 2...
Hey...it's NOT my fault! Blame Daisy!!
I'm just the messenger!

The tree stamp is one of the most popular, from release #2...
I may be a bit prejudice...but I love it...go figure...

Here's a tree tip...
Turn it upside down & use just a portion of it to make a cool border...

I've said it before...
my goal when designing my stamps is to make them VERSATILE...

Hmmmm...What else???

About all the BIRD requests...

YIKES!! I guess you guys like birds too!
My mailbox was LOADED!!

After I'm done teaching the "build a better bird class"...I'll offer any leftovers to my blog friends here...

but first I want anyone who takes this class to have the opportunity to get a spare...
Believe me...they are really a FUN project!
You can't make just one!

And speaking of alcohol inks...
did you know that just a few drops of the blending solution on a paper towel will quickly & easily clean your acrylic stamp blocks?
It's a quick cleaner for your craft sheet too...

And this is NOT sanctioned by Ranger...
but...
I wanted a small container for traveling, for my eyeglass cleaner.

I found that the mini mister is just PERFECT!!

I mentioned this is a class & one gal had been looking for something for her perfume...yep...try the mini mister...

just watch where you spray it...

I put a tiny red dot on it, so that I could see it without my glasses. PERFECT!

And I heard this in a class...
again...not from Ranger, but a student...

She found that Ranger's bubblegun stamp cleaner reactivates the Cricut cutting mats...

I was amazed...but everyone in the class already knew it.
She said she mists the mat...then takes the craft scraper & gently scraps the mat & somehow MAGICALLY the mat seems to last longer. Interesting...

DISCLAIMER...I have not tried this...but others have...

That's it for today...

We're off on a road trip...to visit some antique stores...I can't wait! I LOVE treasure hunts and so does Rick...
I hope he buys lunch!

We need a day out & I NEEEEED more stuff so I can...

Timi, Emily & Samantha...

Phew...what happened to Tuesday??

It's gone...I was very BUSY here...and I accomplished a lot...
just NOT a blog update...YIKES!

Today I'm sharing art from friends...

Timi Taylor, co-owner of For Keeps Sake in St. Louis, brought her studio 490 acrylic storage cover to show me...

Sit down & take a look...WOW!
I LOVE it because it's full of grunge, studio 490 stamps and graphic 45 papers.
Just my colors too...
THANKS Timi...It's PERFECT!

Now if you're a blog friend, you have heard me talk about my new little friend Emily. She's 8 years old.

Emily sent me a photo of a fragments journal that she made for her teacher, who is retiring.

How CUTE is this??? I REALLY like all the embellishments.

My motto is...

If one is good...20 is better!
I see Emily agrees.
What a wonderful keepsake!
GREAT JOB Emily.

And this is from 12 year old Samantha. You must watch her video.

Her mom is co-owner of eclecticPaperie...a GREAT online store...

What a fun technique...it's actually a BLAST.

I HAD to say that...I KNOW it's corny...

This technique blasts canned air on alcohol inks...get it??

Daisy said that Samantha chose the music for the video...and did the demo.

You'll LOVE it...guaranteed.
I am TOTALLY impressed!
Keep up the good work Samantha!

Here's the You-Tube link.

That's it for today...

More packing, more kits and then I might get a little time to...
