metallic Clearly For Art...

today I wanted to share another fun technique that uses

it creates a very cool metallic effect...
and adds a fun twist to CFA...

this is one of the techniques I demoed @ CHA.
Christine & Mark from Scraptime, in Canada,
filmed the video...

THANKS Christine & Mark!
check out their site...
there's tons of videos & inspiration there...

I wanted to share a few close up shots, so you can really see how cool these turned out...

the first sample shows the CFA blackout flower on a card I did for the Ranger booth...

the flower was created with my flower stamps...
the smaller flower was stamped with my
using jet black archival...

the cute center is a new Blossom Bucket piece...
oh...
new art parts flourishes are there too...

the next shows the new clicker cutts small journal pages...
and this flower was made with the new clicker cutts blackout flower...
I don't think the clicker cutts have shipped just yet...

the gold center flower is new from my Blossom Bucket line...
this one is my MOST favorite...
seriously...it IS!
this is what it looks like right from the package...
very vintage...

and here's a close up of a whole sheet of CFA blackout...

that has been painted with a layer of Glue N Seal...
use the matte finish...

then I added both silver & gold metallic mixatives...

you can really vary the amount of each mixative you use & get lots of cool looks...

in the video I also show how you can add other colors of alcohol inks over these layers...
and you get yet another totally different result...

try it...this is so much fun!

ok...

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts...

while you watch a video...

I'll...

make art!
wendy
ps...I see a "DELIVERY" is scheduled for today...
guess what?
could it possibly be BOOK #6?
I'll be back tomorrow when I actually have them in house!
yippee!

faux crazed porcelaine...

a few weeks ago,
I showed how Ranger's Glue N Seal
could be used with tim's
to create this cool vintage look on glass...

the post is here...

here's another fun & EASY effect, using the same products...
this time it creates a faux vintage porcelain surface...

I started with this metal plaquette, which was too stark for the art I'm working on...

so...I applied a medium coat of matte Glue N Seal ...
then let that dry...

then I painted on a medium/heavy coat of rock candy crackle paint & let that dry...

when the paint had completely dried & cracked,
I rubbed the coffee archival ink pad right over the paint to accent the cracks...
they are barely visible until you add the coffee ink...

I just wiped off the excess with a paper towel & dried it with the heat tool to set the ink...

and the finished plaquette now looks like this...

it's very vintage...
with those little crazes resembling vintage porcelain...

it will be added to a CHA project...

you'll see it in January...

and speaking of CHA...

I'm expecting my new line of Blossom Bucket embellishments to arrive today or tomorrow...

YIPPEE!

so if you hear about an earthquake in Illinois...
don't be alarmed...
it's just me jumping up & down...

I contemplated sitting out on the driveway to wait...
but it's mighty cold out there...

all the projects are finished for book #6 & the instructions are completed too...
YIPPEE...
check that off the to-do list...

the projects will all be sent today so that the photographs can be taken for the book & the insert that's included in each stamp set...

and last but not least...

from the bottom of my heart...

A MILLION THANKS
for all the birthday tweets, Facebook posts, cards, gifts & emails...
you made my day!

I hope you know that
I SINCERELY APPRECIATE
YOUR KINDNESS & FRIENDSHIP!

happy holidays everyone...
I hope you have a great weekend...

the LAST before Christmas...
YIKES!!!

ok...back to the studio...

gotta

make (more CHA ) ART!

art, fit for a queen...

I'm celebrating good news!!!!!

my CHA W-12 stamp images are finished & sent off to be magically transformed into real rubber stamps...
for release late January...

my CHA W-12 ART PARTS are finished...(almost)...
I just need to decide on what's included in the packages...

I been working on *a little something* & it's moving along well...

so... I *thought* I deserved a play day...

and play I did...

the idea has been brewing since tim introduced the rock candy crackle paint...

I wanted to use it on glass...

but since the crackle paint needs "tooth" to grab onto...
the glass was too slick for the crackle to do it's job...

believe me...I did try...

I sanded the glass...or so I thought...
then painted the crackle on the glass...let it dry...

it looked beautiful...

UNTIL...

I picked it up to inspect it...

then it all fell off...
lol...

so I knew it would be a cool effect...
if I could get it to work...

and I did...

the glass bottle below is right from the store...
(a Marshall's find)

I painted on a thin layer of Ranger's Glue N Seal...
I like the matte finish...

and let it dry...

when it was completely dry...

I attacked it with the crackle paint...

I was bound & DETERMINED to make this work...
I don't give up easily...

I wanted big cracks...
so I painted on a pretty thick layer...

then added some extra strength drips...

then I sat & crossed my fingers...

and stared @ the bottle...

pure MAGIC!!!!!

I am IN LOVE...

I used pumice stone distress stain to accent the cracks...

and a bit of espresso pigment ink,
added with the blending tool...
for a little more color...

here's the finished bottle...

a total transformation...

from brand spankin new...

to very vintage...

with the addition of a little lace,
and some rhinestone trim...

the crackle effect is flippin cool, if I say so myself...
it's even better than I expected...

it's now...

art...FIT FOR A QUEEN!

I think this new awesome cracked glass technique
has LOTS of possibilities...

I've got an idea-ology corked vial drying now...
it's looking really good!

and speaking of awesome...
makes you drool...kind of AWESOME!!!
what beautiful colors...

I hope you can grab a generic bottle, some Glue N Seal...
this is the big bottle...no brush...
but more cost effective to refill the small bottle (that has the brush)...

same thing here...large bottle to refill the small...

this is just too much fun...

I hope you're inspired to play along and

make art!
wendy
ps...it's NOT TOO SOON...
to start making your holiday gifts...
YIKES! it's Nov 1st...

pss...I realized why I'm shaky...
I made a project WITHOUT a rubber stamp...
I thought that was IMPOSSIBLE...

I better remedy that NOW...
phew...

believe in art...

here we go...

NEW studio 490 stamp set #11...

"believe in art"...

I loaded up this sheet with so many images that we had to put some sideways on the storage sheet...
YIKES...it's a stamp overload!

the tour starts on the left...

another flea market find...
this "vintage ad" has so many elements/words that can be used alone...
you can bet I'll be using "plants & flowers" as a sign...
the mini clothes are fun to cut out & layer for dimension...
this works with the steampunk craze too...

"she opened her eyes"...
a fun saying for altered projects...

"who you are"...
simple but true...
I used this framed in the square art parts book plate for one of the projects in book #5...
this is a good stamp for using the individual words...
and it's fun to color in the open letters...

"she always felt different from the others"...
another fun saying for edgy art...
I *think* I'm liking the word edgy...
do you?

"she was certain she could, so she did"...
I wanted more sayings to use with faces, birds & butterflies...

it's also good for a graduation card...
promotion @ work etc...

"she believed she could be"...
another fun altered art saying...
like above, good for a graduation card...
promotion @ work etc...
or just a pep talk...

and finally..."normandy lace"...
another vintage find...
this is a large background/border...
good for stamping on a large area or use it as a background stamp for small art parts pieces...

here's "believe in art"...
the set with the sideways stamps...

moving on to #11 art parts package...

this is called "potpourri of parts"...
and it is LOADED with 20 art parts...

as you can see, there are flowers, a stem with leaves that can be used with these flowers or any flower...

the leaves @ the top are sized for these stamps, or they can be stamped with any background stamp for unlimited possibilities...

I LOVE the layered lamps...
I love them so much I HAD to do 2...
one smaller than the other...

same with the flower pots...IN LOVE...

and the flourishes...I thought we needed 2 sizes...

this is indeed...
a potpourri of parts!
oops... WAIT... the bottle...
it's 5 1/8th inches tall...

it was designed to fit the new SERUM OF ART label...

I like to ink it, then crackle it with tim's rock candy crackle paint...
and then to make a seal with Ranger's Memory Foil Tape...

here's a mini peek of a project I made for tim's Advantus booth...

.

the editing is DONE for book #5...YIPPEE...
(yuck job!)

I'll get the BOOK prototypes @ CHA...
can't wait to see it in person...

and I'll try my best to snag one to give away here...

the cover looks like this...
with the SERUM of ART label I mentioned above...

after CHA, the art adventure starts again...

first stop is a brand new store for me with a cute name...
it's Cafe Crop...

it's located in Crown Point, Indiana, which I understand is not too far from Chicago...

so I can drive! I LOVE that!

I hope to see some Illinois & Michigan friends there too...
since this seems to be a good central midwest location...

Here's a link to the classes...
just scroll down to see them...
hope you can join the inky fun on Friday evening August 12th & on Saturday August 13th...

after that, I head farther east to The Stamping Place...
it's in West Columbia South Carolina...
a GREAT store...
an awesome classroom...
& a fun staff!

tomorrow is FINALE FRIDAY...
the last of the new stamp sets...
and the last art part reveal...
kind of sad that's it's over...

I *think* Friday's frame is my most favorite art parts LARGE frame...

and that's why I saved it for last...

thanks for stopping by & leaving comments & sending emails...
I LOVE hearing your thoughts...

see you tomorrow...
for FINALE FRIDAY...

I'll show you a project
that will bring back memories & I HOPE...
make you laugh...

until then...

make art!
