notes & quotes & canvas

As promised...another Maya Road CHA project...
this one is called "notes & quotes".

The base is their new classic scroll frame coaster.

Notice how "notes & quotes" is a perfect fit for the Maya Road scroll frame...

that's the advantage of designing stamps...
I get to size them to fit!

So, those large studio 490 background stamps that completely cover the Maya Road mini album pages...fate??

I think not...
PLANNED!

Back to the art...

the back cover...

Here's more bonus photos...from another NEW Maya Road release...
*
If you think it's EASY being on a design team...
think about this...
you'll see why I needed that mojito!
*
Maya Road sent me this AWESOME CANVAS POCKET BINDER album...
*
HOWEVER...since it's a brand new product...
you only get one...
ONE!!
*
If you mess it up, there's no running out to your LSS to get another...no one has them!
YIKES!!
SCARRY!
It took me a month to get the courage to dive into this project...

Here's the back cover...
*
tim's mask stuck to the canvas perfectly, which allowed me to apply plenty of distress inks...
*
The flowers are colored with turquoise metallic Maya Mist...
then stamped.

So...the moral of this story?
Working with the canvas is MUCH easier than you think...
just dive in!!

It was REALLY FUN!!
*
One more thing...
I used Ranger's jet black archival for stamping on the canvas...
***
and speaking of RANGER...

the grand prize contest starts...
tomorrow!
A BIG BOX of Ranger goodies for some lucky someone!

stickles, samplers and Maya Road goodness

did you see tim's BIG announcement about his new Ranger products??

I've been waiting for the rest of the Distress Stickles to be ready for us...

Now we'll have them & MORE...

Picket fence AND metallics?? YIPPEE!!
Think of the possibilities!

My MOST favorite is the Rock Candy...OMG!

Here's a holiday hanging for the Maya Road booth @ CHA...

I used the rock candy on the berries, snowflake and buttons...

Here's a close up of the ROCK CANDY DISTRESS STICKLES on my holly berries...

Let me just say...OMG!! I'm in LOVE with the effect...
The holly is stamped on grungepaper...
It looks exactly like...rock candy! Imagine that!

This is the PERFECT accent for holiday projects and more...
I'll be buying this stuff by the case!!

Ok...I showed the cover of the Maya Road sampler yesterday...
here's the inside pages...

The distress ink colors are brushed corduroy and broken china...

Combined, they make a wonderful custom teal color...

These papers are graphic45...YUMMY stuff!

the numbers page...the green is peeled paint...

Here's the back cover...
ignore the yuck in the top right corner....
I forgot to crop it out...duh!
Anyway...the papers are again...jenni bowlin.

This sampler was a lot of fun...
and it was a thrill to use my new studio 490 stamps for the very first time.

We're one day closer to FRIDAY...the start of the RANGER GIVEAWAY!

Tomorrow...more big Maya Road peeks...

nice big photos today...

Forget the peeks...
lets get right to some LARGE photos...

This is one of my favorite new releases from Maya Road.
It's called the square scroll frame coaster.

This is the first CHA project that I dug into, when my box arrived.
I knew immediately what I wanted to create with this cutie...

It's titled...ART SQUARED...
see the little 2?

I did little square mini collages and had a BLAST...

The cover...it's embossed. The inside pages are flat.

inside...

more fun...

and another...

See the MINI HOUSE? I want a million of these guys...

The kraft colored base is new too...
they're called journaling tags...

On to more NEW releases...

More MINI chipboard alphabets...YIPPEE...
You KNOW I LOVE mini...

They're sprayed with the metallic turquoise Maya Mist...
Couldn't be easier...

New stamps from Maya Road...
The bird & the cage...
It's FATE...in my new studio 490 release, "just a note" was a PERFECT sentiment for this card...
The birds are stamped on grungepaper....

hmmm...What else can I share??

A while back I showed you an idea I had brewing...
These are some jenni bowlin papers...
it's pre art...

Here's the final result...

Again...I LOVE the new BLACK gingham flower.

That's the Tuesday update...

The grand prize contest starts Friday...it's the Ranger giveaway!!

I think you know what's coming next...

3 photos...3 peeks

Ah...there's NOTHING like a "Mario mojito"...

He's an AMAZING chef...and mojito maker too.

FRESH mint...the whole shebang!

I had a total blast in Prescott...the treatment was sooooo awesome that Rick had to call tim & say...quit spoiling my wife!
SERIOUSLY...SPOILED!

Gourmet food...

marvelous mojitos...SHOPPING...arting...
CRUISE PLANNING...TOTAL FUN!!

A HUGE THANKS to TIM, MARIO & MICHELLE for your hospitality...

CHEERS!

So, the relaxing is OVER for now...

I'm in rush mode for last minute CHA prep...

still lots to do...

I had to show you how we spend about 15 minutes each morning...watching this baby play.

It makes us smile to see( him? )having so much fun running, jumping & playing...

We see him growing by the week...

As promised...3 Maya Road peeks...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE gingham...

I stamped the naked Maya Road chipboard flowers with

snow cap white PIGMENT ink...(hey! I see it's ON SALE! cool...)

dried them & then inked them with brushed corduroy distress ink...

The stamped image is barely visable...
but once you add enough distress ink, the stamped image magically pops.

One more Maya Road peek...

I LOVE gingham even more when it's...BLACK!

See the glasses? tim's new film strip ribbon is a perfect fit for the face!
It's held in place with the tiny attacher...a cute mini staple.

More Maya Road peeks every day this week...please come back!

Now about that RANGER box of goodies...the final "book celebration contest" starts on Friday.

The big winner gets the above box...

I just need to think of something fun...any ideas?

I'm off to...

make (CHA) art!

new stamps...new storage binder...

Here's volume 3...new studio 490 stamps
...in their new binder...

ALL the flowers are stamped on grungepaper...
the giant scroll is from tim's grungeboard elements.

Did you notice the cool corners on the right side?

They're from tim's idea-ology line.

they were the perfect fit.
Like the background papers?

It's graphic45 and Jenni Bowlin...my 2 all time favorites!
I'm IN LOVE with their papers!!!
*
Here's a closer shot of the flower made with the dimensional rose stamp.
The small flower center is made with tim's foliage.
*
I'll be back with a "how to" make the rose after CHA...
let me just say...
be warned...it's addicting!!!
*
Right now I'm up to my ears in assignments & the deadline is CLOSE...
*
I'll leave for CHA next Sunday...still LOTS to do...
More Maya Road projects and samples for my demo for Ranger...

book "cover" art and a winner...

One of the most FUN things when working on "make art, studio 490 style", was choosing the art for the cover of the book.

This is my favorite project...(I think)...
so this is what I chose...

I liked the colors, the abundance of flowers and especially the saying.

The base is a page from a Maya Road new summer release...
I LOVE the shape!

The "book" has now morphed from 40 pages to 50+++ pages.
I'm DIEING to see it finished...we're getting close.

A limited quantity will be available here on the blog...

I'll let you know just as soon as I have them...
My guess is early August...right after CHA.

Next...

Here's a stamping tip...
If you look @ the mini butterfly on the lower right corner, it doesn't look the same as it does on the "make mine mini art" set.
I stamped the butterfly on the BACK of the grungepaper & cut it out, then overstamped it with the numbers background.

That gives you more options...
you get the butterfly shape, but not the polka dots...
so now the butterfly can be any pattern...

this works the same with lots of other stamps too...
I've said before...
I like versatile!

Now about that $25.00 eclecticPaperie gift certificate....
THANKS for sharing your ideas...
I'm impressed!

the random generator chose...
#5...that's carpediem!!

Here's the comment...

carpediem said...
I am planning on making some mini albums using your new stamps. They will be titled "notes & quotes" and on the first page I'll have your rules to live by and the subsequent pages will have the quotes from your new sets and previous sets. I'll add areas for journalling and photos and, of course, lots of grunge flowers! Not too innovative but I think they'll make wonderful gifts!
July 15, 2009 9:52 AM

CONGRATS to carpediem!!!
Send me your name & I'll pass it along to Daisy & Joy...
Let the shopping begin!

Want another contest next week?
OK...come back!

Until then...

I LOVE fresh rubber and FREE SHOPPING!

If you've visited before, you've heard me say that I wanted to make my stamps versatile...

Here's an example...

This set is called "lower case art".

Here I used the flower as the obvious flower...

The grungepaper is bent up to create dimension...

For another option...and totally different look...

Turn the flower upside down, curl the grunge back...

and now you have a pumpkin!

Another idea...no photo YET...
the idea is still in my head...

Cut it in half...
scallop the edge, add a handle & you have an umbrella!
get the idea?

OK...to enter the "book celebration" contest...

and have a chance @ a $25.00 gift certificate to eclecticPaperie...
Here's what you need to do...

Choose ONE NEW studio 490 stamp & tell us your idea for using it.
SIMPLE!

Just leave a comment ...

emails don't work with the random generator...

You have until 7am on Friday to leave a comment with your idea for using one new studio 490 stamp.
Click the link for photos of the stamps.
Get your thinking caps on!

I'll announce the winner on Friday & someone will win a $25.00 shopping spree.

Shopping is FUN...FREE shopping is even better...
GOOD LUCK...send your ideas & be entered to win a gift certificate!!
It's ...
make art...
time for me!
wendy
ps...that Ranger box of goodness is still here...
it's the grand prize for later this month...and MORE will be added to the box!
