A little art, the contest details & one by air...3 by land

I couldn't sleep the other night & had to make a choice...dust the shack or make art. Above is the choice! The decision didn't take much thought... anyway...When I bought this antique book, Rick asked why I would pay $1 for an old book with no cover. Well...check out the color of the pages & the page titles...I found it PERFECT for art. This is another reminder to ALWAYS keep your eyes open for ART PARTS! They're everywhere.

I stamped Maya Road's new wing stamp onto grungeboard and added them to the chipboard gal. FUN combo. That teeny-tiny heart and the arrow are from the microchips tins, from Maya Road.

Here's a better look @ the wings. The paper on her dress is from Jenni Bowlin. I added just a bit of magic mesh.

Three by land... Classes coming to.....

Scrapbook Friend'z in Bloomington Illinois on Saturday March 8th. The class is called Goin' for the grunge...it combines glass & grunge...FUN stuff!

March 14th @ the SSAT convention in Rockford, Illinois, for Stampers Anonymous. Class details aren't finalized quite yet...but, how can you resist a stamping class?? Or possibly 2!!

And a weekend event @ the end of the month....I'm joining my friend Linda Cain @ For Keeps Sakes in St. Louis on March 29th & 30. I'll teach the Distress ink technique class first on Saturday. Linda's class will be her cool framed houses. Check out her blog!

On Sunday Linda will start with a fragments book class & then I'll do grungeboard...combined with other fun stuff.

We'll bring plenty of art samples to give you additional ideas and a surely there will be some chocolate...hey...arting takes energy!

This WILL be a great fun weekend. We'd love to see you there.

Goin for the grunge!

The keepsake box isn't new...but the butterfly stamp is. I wanted a really dimensional piece and grungeboard was the perfect choice.


Here's the inside, which shows Maya Road's new chipboard butterfly, that is a perfect fit for the butterfly stamp. Didn't use it though...I'm loving the calendar stamp as a background....AGAIN!

Here's a closer look...

The knob & the metal trim are made by 7 gypsies...both are totally COOL! I used up some scraps of the K & Co paper that were left from another project.

I'll be back tomorrow with the contest details and some info on classes in Bloomington Illinois, St. Louis Missouri and Rockford, Illinois. Yep...March is REALLY busy. I LOVE IT!

Pink was shocking, so back to the real me................

This was so much fun to make...that I can't believe was LEGAL! I expected the ART COPS to pop thru the door @ any moment and haul me away. If you think flowers are addicting, just wait 'til you play with these guys.They are mounted on the antique ruler, so the whole piece will stand for display.

This set is called Heart & Home. There are other styles of houses included in the set, but this is what I got to work with. The microchip scallops are a perfect fit for the windows and the microchip stars worked well too. The flower on the house to the far right is from the Journey East Primrose clear stamp set. The tiny star stamps can be found in the Stamp Seals set. I used a circle punch & used only a portion of the stamp, from the Postcard set, on the third house.

Other products...The papers on the first 3 houses are by Jenni Bowlin. I LOVE them!! 4 inches square & absolutely adorable. I can't wait to see her booth @ CHA in the new vendor section.

The 4th house has a background that I made & it says...be it ever so humble.

The words... passion, creativity, volume 1, paper and artist are made by Julie VanOosten.

This little bit of art is in my top 3 favorite CHA projects that I made for Maya Road.

PINK???? ME??? How did this happen??

Where does ART come from??? Hmmm.....interesting question.
I LOVE colors, both brights and pastels, but never use them. Believe me I've tried, but usually my attempt heads straight for the trash. SAD, but true.

In our latest box of Maya Road goodies, we were gifted with some papers from Daisy D. For some unknown reason, I just HAD to try pink AGAIN. Above is the result.

Here's a closer view of a totally cool NEW clear "admit one" stamp. LOVE IT!!!

It hangs by some fun velvet ric rak, which is another addicting product.


So there you have it. My first acceptable pink project. Once I finished this one...I HAD to do a few more...in pink...but that's info for another posting.

Let me know what you think. BE HONEST! Keep this in mind...If you make me cry, you'll be disqualified from the upcoming contest! HA! Just kidding!! Hmmm...but then again...maybe not......

Happy Birthday to my friend & mentor...LISA PACE! She's co ordinator of our DT @ Maya Road and has the really big task of keeping us all in line! I hope this arrives in Texas today...HAPPY BD LISA!! She's 43, if you NEED to know that & a Memory Makers Master for 2008. She teases me about having an accent...I live in Illinois...she lives in TEXAS...now who do you think has the accent?? HELLO...

This is her BD tag. It started with a Maya Road 5 x 5 square chipboard book. What was really fun, was using the calendar stamps as a background on the MR letters. VERY fun. The tiny crown is from the motifs chipboard set & it was a perfect fit for U4-1149 Paper Scallop stamp from Stampers Anonymous. The background paper is my new favorite from K & Co & it's called Typography. I just bought 12 MORE sheets earlier this week. God forbid I run out...And, my latest addiction is pearls. For some unknown reason, I've been adding them to everything. It's odd how this art stuff works. Never used a pearl before...

Since I started using the flower business cards, I've had some really GREAT things happen. I think they're my lucky charm! A HUGE THANKS to Maya Road, Ranger and Stampers Anonymous. My idea last night was to create another style card using art parts from those 3 companies. This is the result.

The scroll is a clear stamp from the Maya Road SCROLLS stamp tin & I'm sure everyone knows by now that faded jeans is made by Ranger. The base is a chipboard blossom coaster from Maya Road.

Going to CHA??? YOU BET & I'm counting the days!! Come visit us in booth 1987...MAYA ROAD! You won't believe your eyes when you see the new goodies...I'm VERY impressed!

Background paper for the photos?? I ONLY have one sheet & it's by Jenni Bowlin. God forbid...only ONE sheet...I can't cut into that beauty until I get more. I LOVE IT! She also makes adorable packs of 4 x 4's that co-ordinate with the 12 x 12's, but are scaled down patterns. TO DIE FOR CUTE. I hoard them too. NUTS!

The screen background stamp?? Sorry. It's an unmounted I got years ago & I have no clue who made it and that's probably why I left that one out of the last post.

On to other random news...

Don't forget about the consumer challenge sponsored by Maya Road. Details are in the posting from Saturday. Some gals have emailed me their submissions & I'm glad I'm not responsible to choose the winners. That will be a hard job. I was asked to participate in a designers challenge for Ranger, with the art to be shown @ CHA next month. I'm one of 24...and THRILLED to be among some REALLY FAMOUS NAMES...More details when I can. Anyway, my piece is done, Fed-Exed & has arrived in New Jersey. Robin's comment was..."Exactly what we were looking for". YIPPEE! Sure made my day!!

Finally...a REAL FULL photo or even 3 !!

This is up on our DT BLOG now, so it's safe for me to post the whole photo. This was a sneak peek from a few days ago, if you remember one of the famous CRACK posts.
This started out as a plain wooden tote that I initially painted white. I added the yummy Daisy D's paper first & then the fun started. The chipboard letters and snowflake were painted with fired brick Distress Crackle paint.


To make the scalloped border, I cut the foundations chipboard circles in half, covered them with paper & stamped each one with our clear acrylic scroll stamp and accented each with a tiny dot of Stickles. If you live in cold weather, you understand the chipboard arrow and the words "SURVIVAL KIT", which are done with Maya Road Noah rub-ons. Winter in Illinois is NOT fun!


This photo shows the inside bottom of the tote. The frame is from our chipboard foundations set and is colored with fired brick distress ink. I stamped the scroll again, accented it with Stickles & added the adorable microchip heart and a little pen stitching. These micros are just soooo cute.
Filled with some goodies for that special someone, this makes a fun gift!

Start with a paper mache box...

add some Distress inks (vintage photo & faded jeans..my new addiction), some cool Maya Road chipboard flowers, a Maya Road corner scroll, some Maya Road Rub-ons...and this is the result.
The second photo is the bottom of the box. Same inks...Maya Road acrylic stamps( from the Signed sealed & delivered set, scrolls set, and the postcard) and Maya Road rub-ons. The line stamp is from Mrs. O'Leary's.
The box is filled with little treasures & will be my gift to my Ranger U roomie...Sure hope she likes it. She's from the UK & I think she's on her way, so it's safe to post this.

How cute is this little guy??

So...I hear you don't like sneak peeks...Hey...it's better than a post with NO photo!! How boring would that be??

This little microfelt guy makes me smile. Add him to some Maya Road chipboard, stamp some tiny flowers, add a little Ranger Distress ink and this is the result. FUN!! I'll show the whole photo just as soon as I can! It's a promise!!
