painted paste backgrounds...

and a GIVEAWAY!

since I seemed to have missed Halloween…
here's a late treat…

I thought I'd share this fun project & offer you a chance for a treat…

a NO-CAL fresh rubber treat that is…

here's what I made...

it started like this…

I misted some peeled paint distress stain onto the art part…
(I put the distress stains into misters)
then changed my mind…

so, I added a random thin uneven layer of my white embossing paste

as you see below, the paste absorbed the fresh stain…

while the paste was wet, I misted the background stamp & stamped into the wet paste…it's the dotted lines from LCS022…the set is  called "let your art have wings"...

make sure to clean your stamp before the paste dries!

and had this...

you'll notice in the following photos, that as the paste dried the color lightened…

the paste dries with the texture from the stamp...

after shaking the evergreen bough distress paint, I added some to my craft sheet, then used the blending tool to apply the paint over the dry paste…

I dried the evergreen bough, then added a bit of broken china distress paint around the left side & dried that…

I had intended to paint over the bottom of the base…but the colors looked good, so I left them…
so far it looked like this...

next, I added gathered twigs distress ink with the blending tool & misted it with water to create the drips you see below...

I finished off the background by using potting soil archival ink to stamp the ornate dots background at the top & bottom…

the gold edge is done with the tarnished brass distress stain
a small detail…but it frames the background…

I also added some random text from the New York school of art background, with watering can archival...

once again, I got carried away playing…thus no photos…

I inked the hand stamp with jet black archival & pressed the coordinating art part onto the inked stamp & dried it…

I used brushed corduroy to lightly ink the hand & the sleeve & the broken china distress marker to ink the shirt cuff…

to add a pattern only over the sleeve, I created a post-it note mask to protect the cuff/hand…

I inked the herringbone background stamp with watering can archival & then stamped the pattern to the sleeve area only…

you'll see that in the top photo…

I also added a bit of Glossy Accents to his fingernails...

to create the flower, I used Glue N Seal to add a vintage dictionary page to some Clearly For Art

using the blending tool, I inked thru one of the layered flower stencils with cornflower archival ink & then placed the second stencil over the inked area & added tumbled glass distress ink to create a multicolored flower…
(place the second stencil so that it masks the ink from the first stenciling)

I then cut out the flower & heated it to soften the CFA, so I could shape the flower...

(I like to put the paint onto the craft sheet & add the paint to the art part with my fingers to create a really awesome chalky effect…)

I dried it, then used my fern green archival ink on the reverse dots background to stamp over the art part…

if you're following along…
make sure to dry this...

and here's the finished piece again…

I used my Blossom Bucket black/gold flower to accent the CFA flower…

and added some of tim's star remnant rubs on the stem & on the background…

***YIPPEE*** the rubs do stick to embossing paste!

that was fun so I used the 3 guys rub on the sleeve…

and the Blossom Bucket crow has a good spot to sit...

and just like potato chips…
I couldn't stop at one…

this one is drying…

I'm planning to use the distress paints over the whole background this time…
not sure what else will develop…
stay tuned...

before I get to the giveaway scoop, I have a little Pinterest issue to correct…

I  signed into Pinterest on my iPad using my Facebook account & somehow that created a second Pinterest account on Saturday…

YIKES…since Saturday, over 100 have signed up to follow my boards, but there's nothing there…YIKES again!

the correct Pinterest link is this…

sorry for the confusion! I told you I'm not a tech person & this proves it…
I'm not sure how to delete the second account & not loose my beloved boards…

in other breaking news…

this is a place where you can chat, if you desire…
ask questions & participate in monthly challenges too…

I'll pop in from time to time with little tips/hints...

and to kick it off…
I'll be giving away some rubber stamp sets from my latest release…

you'll have 5 chances to win…

I'll give away 3 sets to 3 people who leave a comment on the FACEBOOK PAGE

and the other 2 sets will go to 2 people chosen from comments left here, on the blog…

ready…set…GO!

you comment while I…

make art!
wendy
ps…GO BEARS!
I bet I'll be ending a mojito tonight to settle my nerves...

OK-I have an Embossing Paste Addiction-is there a 12 step program anywhere? I have resorted to using my fingers-since I can't seem to locate the knife I brought home from the last workshop-maybe I need to clean off the piles on my workspace?Nah-I'd rather play!
