CHA was...

 was over the moon…

SUPER AWESOME!

like maybe my most favorite CHA ever…
the vibe was good…
the people were excited…
it was just plain SUPER AWESOME!

it's a really busy fun experience that just flies by too fast…

I didn't walk around at all…
I had to come home & search the net to see photos…
I AM NOT KIDDING…

between demoing in the Ranger booth & at the Stampers Anonymous booth…
I had a spare 30 minutes per day!

I did get to meet up with friends from all over the world…
it's so much fun to talk with people who GET what I do & to share their excitement for the new products…
it's energizing...

my new crackled texture paste was a huge hit…
Ted has already ordered more…don't fret...

seeing photos on the net is one thing, but seeing how cool the paste is in person makes a big difference…
we heard that comment over & over again…
I'll be posting some projects & some tips/hints soon...

SiSi's (stamp it stencil it) got rave reviews…so many people asked how we are pronouncing it…we say SEESEE

I was thrilled to demo my new archival inks
I am totally IN LOVE with the new colors & I'm happy to have lots more color combos, now that I have 12 colors in my archival palette…
the first 6 work well with the new 6…just as I planned...

my main demo was showing another way to use the archival reinkers…

obviously reinkers are made for reinking pads, but they are fun for techniques too…

I used them for the specialty stamping paper background on my Ranger designer challenge…

we were given an 11 x 14 flat canvas & were told to use distress paints…

the only other rules were to make the canvas, so that it could be displayed vertically & nothing was to hang off the canvas…
oh…and to stay true to our own style...

I painted my canvas with black soot distress paint & also used the distress paints on the art parts large ferns & the flower that's made from clearly for art

those splats in the background were also stamped with distress paint...

here's a closer look…

I LOVE heat embossing…
it's such a simple thing, but it adds so much detail & interest…

you'll see it on the painted art parts ferns and I also used it on the background with my vintage mesh background stamp...

I used my new sunburst stencil to create the large flower from clearly for art...

you can see in the photo below that the distress paint looks great…
it doesn't chip off & it changed the cfa from transparent to opaque…

I stamped the ornate dots background over the dry distress paint with orange blossom archival & for the new checkmate stencil I used jet black archival

the flower center is the center of my new vintage doily background stamp & the mini star is a tim remnant rub...

if you're a frequent blog visitor,
you know I like to use products more than one way…
so I wanted to show you that I used the same starburst stencil as a cool tag topper…

2 totally unique uses, in addition to using it as a stenciled flat background…
I like that!

I used the SiSI ZINNIA…stamped a second image on a scrap & cut out a portion of the center to create a layered flower…

that beautiful blue is my new forget-me-not archival…
and the green is the new leaf green…

the new checkmate stencil was stenciled with the new tree branch archival ink, the butterfly is orange blossom & my main sentiment/stars is always jet black archival…

it's on a #8 manila tag that I cut down to 5 ½ inches tall...

I used tim's wrinkle free distress with tumbled glass & scattered straw distress stains for the background…

here's some links to
really well done videos by paperclipping.com

this one shows all the entries from the Ranger challenge…up close…so you get a good look...

and here's the video to show you how to

this is the technique I've been using on my large art journal pages...

this video also shows how to use the archival inks over the new crackled texture paste…

so grab some popcorn, sit back & get ready to…

make art!
wendy

ps…I'll be back on Monday with some (3) GIVEAWAYS for a really cool ON LINE class…see you then!

AND...let me know if you try the archival reinker background…I'd love to see what you create!

Oh, to get to a CHA... it looked truly amazing from the photos/videos and the samples were incredible as expected. Your Distress Paint piece is gorgeous - and so VERY you - definitely one of the few that didn't need a name under it to identify the artist. The tag is also wonderful and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. Have a great weekend, Jenny x

Wow, wow, wow, the canvas & the tag are completely STUNNING.
I'm glad you enjoyed CHA, even though you didn't get to walk around - but the great thing about that is that everyone else had to go to YOU. :)

Have played with the background technique and it is awesome. I have to get a little bottle so I can dribble the alcohol on. I have been using a pipette to put alcohol on the paper. Hope the crackle paste ships soon! Want that!
