hello...
I'm back from Orlando!
in just a few short hours, I went from 85 degrees to a balmy...
52 in Chicago...
UGGG...
lucky for me I'm headed back to Florida on Thursday to teach at
Pictures in Time in Fleming Island...
today I thought I'd share the fabric gift bags I made for my students at the Collin's event...
their class kit was in this bag...
archival inks are AWESOME for stenciling on fabric & they are permanent when dry...
actually archivals are AWESOME every day! lol...
this is a muslin bag...
it's about 8 inches tall & 5 inches wide, to give you an idea of the size...
I chose muslin because it has very little texture, but it's sturdy...
I started by masking off the top half of the vintage lace background stamp, inking it with tree branch archival, removing the tape, then stamping the lace at the bottom of the bag...
next...
I stenciled the large tree with fern green archival toward the left, then masked off the lace with painters tape & stenciled the large tree again to the right of the large tree...
but this time I lowered it to make it much shorter...
the tape protected the lace area...
masking off an area
allows us to make the trees multiple heights...
next, I stenciled the small tree 3 times,
to make the grouping...
and then...
I used dandelion archival to stencil the star 3 times...
I also used dandelion to add the spatter stamp randomly to the background...
the spatter background is a new individual large background stamp & it should be shipping soon...
the order number is wvbg017 & your stores can order it for you
from Stampers Anonymous or Ranger...
if you have my very first stamp set LCS001...
it's the same stamp...
but it's an individual because of the faux graniteware technique I've been using..
I used jet black archival to stamp
"merry christmas" over the lace, right below the trees...
and the bags look like this...
inside the bag were the stencils & stamps we used for the gift tag class I taught...
the happy holidays stencil & the holiday icons SiSi (stamps & stencil in the same package)...
when stamping on fabric, I always reink my pad
(jet black) so it's not too dry...
I also like to let the stamp sit on the fabric for a few extra seconds to allow the ink to completely transfer to the material...
the stenciling is very easy, because you can see exactly how much ink was added...
the mini blending tool is PERFECT for stenciling...
here's a closer look...
don't you think this would be adorable stenciled on a T-shirt or hoodie?
I'm on a mission to find the perfect one...
keep in mind that
smaller fabric bags are perfect for gift cards...
and are fun & quick to complete...
I've done a few...
coming soon to a blog near you...
you could go further with the larger bag if you're only making a few...
you could stamp or stencil on each tree...
add buttons...
and lots more...
but with the quantity I made...
this was fine with me...
I couldn't get carried away...
***BREAKING NEWS***
since I had 43 in the class, but always make extra kits, I have one to share with BLOG FRIENDS...
and I'll give away another
on my FACEBOOK PAGE...
