to see a fun fall tag I created for them...

here's just a tiny peek...

you'll find the tutorial and the full tag HERE...

more new studio 490/blossom bucket...

phew...
blogger was giving me a bad time this morning...
but I think I won...

welcome to day 4 of the new products reveal!

today's new stamp set is called...

a flair for art...

the first image and the background stamp came from a cool vintage find...

it's from a 1902 Woman's Institute book...
it appears to be a home study booklet...
*I think*...
the owner wrote her answers to the questions in it...
it's an adorable book...

take a look @ a flair for art...

the gal is so much fun...
I hate to play favorites...
but I've used her about 10 times already...
she's 4 1/2 inches tall...
and she is an art part too...
yippee...

she's great as the full stamp...
and she's perfectly sized for peeking out of windows & doors...

WHAT WINDOW? WHAT DOOR?
coming soon to a blog near you...

for the photo below, she's stamped on the coordinating art part...
then I restamped the dress onto Claudine's sticky back canvas, which I added over my clearly for art...

this allows you to add a bit of dimension...
and the clearly for art makes those skinny straps very sturdy when you cut them out...

the canvas is inked with fired brick stain,
then stamped with the polka dot border,
using jet black archival...

this time she has a marmalade dress...
again, I added the paper over clearly for art...
with Glue N Seal...

for this sample, you'll see an extra layer of trim @ the top & bottom of her dress...
and those pieces are accented with rock candy stickles...

I TOLD you I LOVE her...
this time she's sporting some polka dots, compliments of tim's retro grunge paper stash...

*do NOT pay any attention
to the large art part she is attached to*

moving on...
hooks & eyes card...
is another vintage find...
and it was made in England...
HELLO...UK friends!

her domestic skills were quite limited, but she sure knew how to shop...
this is my new motto!
it describes me perfectly...

fashion fades but style is eternal...
I like this saying used with this gal & it has huge potential for altered art...

she had a flair for fashion...
I see this used with photos of children playing dress up...
it can also be humorous too...

some considered her aloof,
but she was actually just shy...
when I first found this lady image,
that was the first thought that popped in my little brain...
I thought she looked aloof...

and here she is again...

chandlers label...
remember the stamp from the other day...
take 3 & call me in the morning?
they go together so well...

and finally...
the large Woman's Institute background stamp...

guess I'll just say that I LOVE it...LOTS!

now here's 2 more embellishments from Blossom Bucket...

the bird!

I adore him...
like all the other pieces,
he's flat on the back, but dimensional on the front...

he's simple to alter to any color you want, using alcohol inks & archival...

and the vintage telephone...

this is over the moon stinkin' cute...
it's much smaller than the stamp/art part I showed the other day...
it's 1 1/4 inch tall...
perfect for cards & ATC's...
in addition to altered art...

on the sample below, I very lightly hit the high spots with the sanding grip & added some coffee archival over them...

I'm in love with this guy...

take 3 & call me in the morning

with this cute phone...

so there you have day #4...

I'll be waiting to hear your thoughts...

for me it's time to...

make art!
wendy
ps... I heard loud & clear that you liked the mini clear resin bottle & the yellow flower...
just you wait to see what I have coming soon...

a star is born...

oops...

TYPO...

a STORE is born...

and actually...
there's 2!

the first is my new HOME store...
it just opened a few weeks ago...

just 70 miles from here...

I LOVE that I can drive there & avoid the airport madness...

Amy also has a store, by the same name, in Moline, Illinois.
I taught there back in May...
and LOVED it...

it is STOCKED to the max...very neat & organized...

I'm expecting the same in Bloomington...

I'll be there this Saturday (OCT 29th) for a workshop called...
the artist collectible shelf...

we use art parts to construct this project from scratch & then make embellishments too...

the. cutest. shelf. ever.

in this workshop we even make our own custom background, using Claudine's sticky back canvas, her gesso & tim's distress stains & inks...

oh...and then we stamp over it using my giant background stamps...

I recently taught this class in NY & Maryland & what was really exciting @ those 2 stores, was seeing the creation of each attendee...

everyone had access to the same ingredients, but each had a totally different result...

and each was totally wonderful...

it's fun to try new things...

I'll try to do a video about this soon...-ish...

anyway...
here's the project & I hope you can come join the fun...

& spend the day getting inky, visiting with friends, learning something new...

making ART & having lunch brought to us!
perfect!

now for the SECOND new store...

If you check the top right sidebar...

this makes me happy...

since the response to the hoodies has been so great...

THANK YOU ALL...

the graphic design folks have set up a mini store, to make ordering EASIER & QUICKER for you...

now instead of sending the hoodies/totes to me
in Illinois, from Arizona...

the order gets shipped directly to you...

I'm thinking that will save a week! YIPPEE...
I hate to wait!

it's simple...
just click the hoodie & you'll be magically transported to see the color choices & the sizes available...

I have also added a really cool tote...

I HAD 2 samples...gave them away...

NOTE TO SELF...

NEED to order another for ME...

they too are the pigment brand...sort of worn looking...
with the same graphic...
they are excellent quality too...
nice straps...durable heavy material...

the teal color is much prettier in person...
MUCH!

oh...I see they added more color choices for the tote too...
cool!

(hint...great gifts for friends!) and since Christmas is 2 months away...
YIKES!

let the shopping begin!

ok..I'm off to put the finishing touches on some ***things***
for CHA...

***they*** are coming along quite nicely...
I'm pleased...so far...
yippee!

as always...

I hope you have time to...

make art!

a looming deadline...& an enabler alert too...

September 16 is THE final day...
all my art has to be in Ohio @ Blossom Bucket...

so...that explains my lack of blogging this past week...

YIKES...BUSY...
my poor old brain is on overload!

let me explain...

our initial plan was for 12 pieces of my art to be magically transformed into gift items...

however...
the plan changed & the boss said...

DO MORE!

so I completed 21...
a huge YIPPEE!!!

those 21 ***things*** will be released in July...

and...there's more ***ART*** that is top secret...

I'm telling you...I've been VERY busy...

I ***think*** the top secret stuff will make up for my lack of blogging, when you see it...

believe me I'll spill ALL the beans just as soon as I get the word from the BOSS, Cindy...
this is KILLING me...........

SERIOUSLY. KILLING. ME.

ok...I wanted to pop in & let you know that my friends over @ Simon Says are having a 15% off Ranger sale...
SATURDAY & SUNDAY ONLY...

ALL RANGER PRODUCTS!

so if you've been NEEDING tim's NEW STAINS....

or some of Ranger's new cool KRAFT TAGS...

some of the NEW ARCHIVAL INK colors...
my most favorites...

if you don't have coffee or olive...
they're on sale too...

anything RANGER!
do you need some of Claudine's Gesso...
it's COOL STUFF...

I'll be posting about this soon...

and don't forget the NEW Perfect Pearls Mists...
bling in a bottle...

and last but NOT least...

how did we live without this little gem?

they make GREAT guy stocking stuffers...
they remove grease from hands like MAGIC!

it's never too soon to start the holiday ideas...

ok...I'll be back next week with the WINNER from the last post...
and hopefully I'll be able to include a photo of something...
arty...

until then...

sending healing thoughts to everyone affected by 9/11...

now...

make art!
wendy
ps...GO BEARS!!!

from the bottom of my heart...

THANK YOU ALL
for the hundreds of emails, comments, Twitter & Facebook birthday wishes...
YOU ALL made my heart so happy...

we had a very fun FRIGID day...
SHOPPING of course...
we braved the brutal Illinois weather...

HUGE thanks to the guy who invented cars with butt warmers...
I REALLY love you...
seriously LOVE YOU...

as we were driving, Rick asked what was going on with all the dinging from the IPad...

well it was message after message...
and then more messages...
WOW!!!

THANK YOU AGAIN!

and speaking of hearts...

here's a holiday gift card holder I made for my friend...

the base is grungepaper covered with Claudine's sticky back canvas...

I must admit that when this canvas first was released...
I was a little intimidated...
but now that I've used it & found out that it's not hard...
I'm REALLY enjoying it...
& now the ideas are brewing for more canvas projects...
and there are 5 sheets in the package...
so a good deal...

and...
the color washes are PERFECT for canvas...
just my opinion, but it's quick & easy...

anyway here it is...

and here's a little quick HOW TO...
I made just for you...
my blog friends...

cover a piece of grungepaper with sticky back canvas...
I used the natural again...

die cut 2 hearts...

PLAN B, if you don't have the Sizzix die...
would be to trace 2 hearts onto the grunge & cut them out...
or even 2 squares would be just fine...
2 pieces of the same size are the ingredients to start with...

mist the hearts with red pepper color wash, then mist with water & a squirt or 2 of heirloom gold Perfect Pearls Mist...

dry with the heat-it tool...

use the blending tool to add red pepper PIGMENT ink to the edges to accent them...
I frayed the edge just a tiny bit...

use the red pepper PIGMENT ink to stamp polka dots across the top of the heart...

use coffee archival to stamp the lower heart with this background...

tip...you'll also want to color the insides of the heart, because they are visible & everything should be colored for a more professional look...

hey...
how did Ranger sneak in here?
this guy thinks he's a dog...
he follows me everywhere...
this is the bathroom...

on a funny note, since he thinks he's a dog, I'm training him to come when I call...

if he DOES...
he gets a bit of COOL WHIP...
I work for stamps...
he works for Cool Whip...

we're quite the family here...

ok...back to business...

put the 2 hearts together & use the Crop-a-dile to punch holes to attach the link chain...
(this is a great tool...ask Santa to bring you one)

add eyelets in the holes...

add pen stitching detail around the heart...

it's simple to make perfectly coordinated ribbon...
just start with a piece of tim's trimmings...

moisten with water, scrunch it up, mist with red pepper color wash & a blast of heirloom gold perfect pearls mist...

dry & then randomly stamp with the text stamp , using jet black archival...
I keep it all squished/crushed up & just stamp randomly...

attach the ribbon with the tiny attacher to the front...(another tool to ask Santa for)...
then wrap around the heart & tie on the right...

add 2 rhinestone swirls (ZVA, I think?)...

add grunge holly...
I highlighted the berries with barn door distress stickles...

add an initials to personalize...

add the link chain to hang & a vintage button or 2 @ the top of the chain...

stuff with black tulle...
(JoAnn's)

note to self...
don't forget the gift card!

here's the final again...

and a closeup...
I used this tiny text on the leaves...

the die really makes it a quick project...

if you're a blog friend, you'll see that I use polka dots a lot...
I like them...

a lot...

but I DO NOT like polka dot windows...

stay warm & be merry while you...

make art!
