art by hand...

today I have another brand new,
hot off the press,
studio 490 stamp set to give away...
compliments of Ted & Michelle of Stampers Anonymous...

this is...

art by hand...

this set has 3 coordinating art parts, perfectly sized for the scissors, the thimble & the mini spool stamps on this set...

the scissors are in the top 5 of my most fav new art parts...

it's fun to paint them with Ranger's Adirondack metallic paint dabbers,
I used silver...
dry the paint...
then use jet black archival to ink the scissors stamp,
press the art parts scissors onto the inked stamp,
lift off & dry...

I like to make a tiny hole & insert one of tim's mini fasteners in the screw area on the scissors...

tim's cute drill punch is perfect...
or use an awl...

that one tiny detail makes all the difference...

and a cool discovery...

you can mask off the words on the giant background (with a post-it note)...
and the word "spools" is a perfect fit on tim's spool die cut...
it's part of the large "sewing room" Sizzix Alterations die...

I love it when things are unplanned & simply...WORK!

below is a shot of the art parts stamped thimble too...
that stamp has so much detail...

if you'd like a chance to win...
art by hand...
just leave a comment & I'll choose the winner @ 7am tomorrow...

are you wondering who won yesterday's 2 stamp sets???

#1 goes to...

Darling art "peeks." Would love to see more of the piece that was shown in the 2nd pic... so cute how you wrapped the different materials around the spools. Hope these are part of your latest book! As was mentioned in one of the previous comments, this stamp set reminds me of my grandmother and her old black "pedal-activated" Singer. Sweet...

This one's on my list...what is it about thread? The Chinese have "red thread" which connect two lovers that are fated to meet. We talk about the "threads of our lives". And thread is a pretty magical invention...after all, the Native Americans used buffalo sinews for their thread. The invention of spinning fibers to make something strong enough to hold scraps of material together(let alone the weaving of the material....). Spiders are connected to weaving and storytelling...maybe you should add your little spider to these works...the Fates both spin and cuts the threads of our lives. Our language is so filled with sewing metaphors...a stitch in time, saves nine. Made out of whole cloth...though sometimes I'm a little unsure of what seems a metaphor crossing over into an idiom. The Gate of Jerusalem being referred to as "the eye of the needle". We must be hard-wired(or perhaps...hard-threaded) for this connection! So, congrats to this day's winners and good wishes to all. And with that, I will use my invisible scissors to end this tale!
